This was my first time in Miami with a friend and the second time staying in a hostel. After our stay here I wish I would have stuck with getting a hotel. First thing that went wrong was when we were checking in the person checking us it seemed more concerned with everything around except us and wasn't very helpful at all. The first hostel I stayed in showed me around and told me about everything and events. Rock hostel didn't do that at all we checked in and it was basically find your way around by yourself and find your way to your room too by yourself. Second thing was our room was clean, but not the clean I was hoping for, it looked like they didn't change the bedding or anything to put bunks, and the mattress are literally just for sleeping they aren't too comfy but they work along with that the room had a certain smell to it that wasn't pleasant. On top of that they have plugs on every bunk, unfortunately mine of course didn't work nor did my light which was also inconvenient, since I had to find somewhere away from my bunk to plug my phone in. Our entire stay there I'm pretty sure they didn't clean our room once which includes the shower that is used by eight different people. In all of their bathrooms they have soap but they don't have any hand towels to dry your hand with, which was a tad bit inconvenient. They do have a nice kitchen and rec area with a dart board and pool table unfortunately not a single pool stick that could properly be used since they didnt have tips on them. I didn't try to use their wifi so I'm not sure if it worked or not. They do charge an extra $1 if you need a new towel which I found to be weird, since the towel I received checking in looked like it was used to clean the floor with and had stains all over it. The worst part was I wasn't expecting to get too much sleep of course since its south beach and it was spring break and Miami music week, but this place was extra noisy and their whole policy of not having outside guest obviously doesn't work well. I was awoken at around 5am having to wake up at 7am for an event and I woke up to the person in the bunk below me having a friend stay with him, so he was trying to hang a sheet using my bunk mattress to hold it down, and after that they proceeded to have sex and on a bunk bed well it shakes the entire thing. Needless to stay I won't ever stay in the Hostel again it was a terrible stay...

Unresponsive and irresponsible host. We arrived to the place realizing we were given the wrong room, we book for 2 bed but only get 1 bed. There is no one in the building that could help us, we texted, no response. After getting someone on the phone, we were told the issues was caused by system error, and they ask us “please give us few minuets to check with the team”. We waited more than 2 hours to get the response “we do not have any other units, we are fully booked :( “ No suggestions or any support were provided. They ask us to waited 2 hr for noting. At that time it was getting dark and we are stuck with a room that won’t fit our party. And I don’t understand why it took them 2 hr just to check if their room is booked. After realizing we can’t get the room we booked for, we requested for a refund so we can go to a different hotel that has rooms that will fit our group, and get the response “I will be checking further on this” from the host. And this time, we never get a response after that, till the next day, “I just wanted to make sure everything was okay with your first night in the room.” Lol, I understand system has issues, and that’s fine. But the hostel makes no effort to resolve the issue, other then pretending it don’t exists and wasting our time waiting for them to “check with team” but no solution, is...

I stayed in a 10 bed mixed dorm for 4 nights and it was great. I have been to many hostels, both domestic and international, and this has to be one of my favorites. I think it's the little things that make for a great hostel, such as plenty of shelf space (for clothes, personal items, etc.), outlets near each bed. A hostel that has personality, walls decorated with artwork and photographs. It's the details that make a big difference. The Rock Hostel has all of that and more. I know it's Miami and I'm sure lots of establishments have air conditioners but seeing one in a hostel dorm room was complete eye candy. Not only is there lockers available but an actual safe for each guest in the room which was awesome. Something also worth mentioning is the lift this hostel has which is rare to see! The whole space was clean, location is fantastic, public transportation nearby, easily accessible to get to Downtown Miami or Wynwood. The only con I have is the wifi connection didn't work well in my room but I had near flawless connection in the common areas on the main floor. There isn't a bed assignment, you get to choose your bed when you check-in which I liked. So I recommend if you have a preference of top or bottom bunk to check in right at 3pm. Overall a great value and I can't...

Rock apartments managed by Lowkl is unfortunately a less than 2 / 5 star experience. There is no lobby. There is just a door at the end of a short alley carpeted in green artificial turf with a gutter running down the center. To get inside the building and your room, you enter a code on a key pad. This system works about 50% of the time. Since there's no lobby or onsite staff, you have to call the service team for assistance. The rooms are only cleaned between guests by a non english speaking lady so you're pretty much SOL if you have issues. For instance, THERE WERE COCKROACHES IN MY ROOM. I killed one in my bed. I had to repeatedly call the service team after emailing them photos of the dead bug to request new sheets, towels, etc. Many hours and many calls later sheets, towels and bug spray were left on the table. The room wasnt even recleaned. Rooms are not as advertised. They are not light, bright or clean as shown in the photos. They are noisy. The kitchens are not well stocked. They are not recently renovated. Management is lazy and slow to respond. They do not care about the hotel guests or providing a pleasant experience. I DO NOT recommend staying here. Refer to photos.

Room was not clean, had bugs and smelled of mold. There was old food bits and lots of sand on the floor, someone else’s hair and more sand in the bed, and the shower hadn’t been cleaned in a long while. The worst was the smell and the bugs though, there is a mold problem somewhere and the bugs are thriving because of it. When we reported all of this to management, they reported the room was “properly cleaned”. When we provided videos of the issues, they stopped responding. They did offer to clean the room - that would have fixed 5% of the issues. The noise was another issue - Collins is a LOUD street. People rev their engines until 3am, at 4:30 a jet-powered street cleaner came by causing others in the area to yell at the city staff. The windows are single pane, it’s like you’re sleeping with them wide open, you hear everything. Location is central to tourist attractions.
