I go back every year! As a professional photographer of nearly 15 years, I was skeptical about attending yet another workshop. Still, Joey Wright's workshop proved me wrong. Within minutes of the introduction, I was writing pages of notes filled with new tips and tricks I will forever use in my process. Joey Wright is an approachable and friendly instructor catering to each attendee's skill level. Joey genuinely wants attendees to learn, sometimes stopping everything to answer a question or pointing out something the attendee may have overlooked in their composition. Some attendees were just starting out, yet everyone seemed to get portfolio-level images every day we shot. The workshop covered a range of new information, including settings, composition, and directing models. Despite being a three-day event (four if you purchase the optional Sunday shoot day), the value of the first day alone was worth the cost. Each day's lectures and presentations proved highly valuable, the professional models on shoot days being an added bonus. Joey chooses the swimwear, the model it goes on, and the spot they are modeling in so that everything is perfectly coordinated. His top-tier crew includes still-active models who manage the talent/food/transportation and next-level photographers from Miami who assist with the shoots. The agency-level models were true professionals, and all were having a great time. I've made new friends every time, with most everyone involved, with whom I still keep in touch. Did a 1:1 with Joey today and its definitely worth noting how impressed I am with the information he delivered. I contacted him with a retouching problem that I was not getting corrected as quickly or as well as I knew I should. Within the first 15 minutes he had walked me through a simple and effective fix for the problem and we had already moved into how the tools actually worked to accomplish that fix. My issue solved, we continued talking to fill out the rest of the hour discussing numerous aspects of photography - from some basic philosophies and work flows all the way to his final advice directed toward pulling more clients from internet searches. Generous with his knowledge both to models and fellow photographers, easy to talk to, non-judgemental, offering constructive, concise, direct answers. What more could yo ask for. My coaching session with Joey was absolutely next-level. In just a few minutes of editing guidance, he showed me how to take my images from “good” to attention-grabbing with just a few precise moves. He also introduced me to Evoto on the call, which will easily save me hundreds of hours and dramatically improve my editing capabilities overnight.
