Esquina Mexicana — Restaurant in Miami Beach

I’m on the fence with this one. It’s a really nice restaurant. Love the effort put into the decor and the whole atmosphere. It seemed very clean and tidy. The hostess was very attentive and professional. You feel welcomed as you come in. We stumbled upon this place as we were heading back to our hotel. We had to pack and get ready for our flight and didn’t have time to dine in, but figured we would take something to go. The hostess and the gentleman in the green t-shirt provided excellent service and even offered us a table to sit while we waited for our food. Even brought us water. That was nice. The gentleman in the black t-shirt was also nice, but not as attentive. But I get it. They work for tips, he wasn’t interest if we were not gonna eat there. We inquired into some items from the menu, (my favourite pick was the flan, as the gentleman kept saying it was kind of their specialty). We got our food and headed back to our hotel. We enjoyed the meal as we got ready to head to the airport. The food was really good actually. I would know a bit about it, I’m half Mexican. Great portions. I did find it a bit on the expensive side, but being the food so good, I figured it was worth it. It also had quite a few sides we didn’t know came with it so that was pretty cool. I was loving it until I got to the bottom of the bag and realized, you guys forgot my flan. Not cool. You raved about it. I paid for it. And it was not cheap. I was really disappointed to find that you hadn’t packed it. By then, nothing I could do as not only I was pretty far away, but I also checked the schedule and it said you were closed. You must understand how a simple detail like this, ruins the whole experience. I just hope you’re more careful in the future with...

Came here straight from the beach (bathing suit is fine. I had shorts on when I entered and a big donut floaty and had no issues being sat so 10/10 there)

Paula was our server and was very helpful and attentive, 10/10 service.

Food was very tasty I had the 3 meat burrito and my bf had the 3 meat quesadillas (both were $30). You have to ask for any sauce (red or green) on the side which isn’t a big deal but just to note. 9/10

I do wish there were more customizations available. I came in wanting tacos but if you choose tacos as your entree it would’ve had to be all the same kind of taco. And for the burrito/quesadilla options you had to choose 1 meat or all 3 meats (steak, chicken, shrimp) so if you have a shell fish allergy you only have 1 option. 7/10

The biggest negative to me would be the drinks. We ordered the strawberry margarita, a mojito and a passion fruit juice. All VERY bland/watery. Paula was very accommodating with our dissatisfaction in our drinks and took our drinks back and requested it to be stronger. I saw them POUR more alcohol in both and I promise you not when we tasted it again it was barely a difference! So I’m not sure what kind of alcohol they have back there but it is not strong. They didn’t charge us for the “extra alcohol” request which was great but definitely would not recommend or do back for any drinks. Also water automatically comes in a glass bottle and was $9 each so just fyi. 2/10

The food at this restaurant was absolutely amazing! We ordered the birria tacos and the calamari, and both dishes completely exceeded our expectations. The birria tacos were packed with flavor and perfectly cooked, while the calamari was crispy and tender—not chewy at all like in some other places.
