I was bummed when I visited this place with my family because the reviews were so good... Unfortunately, the service from the host wasn't very good. We were seated, and he was supposed to go back and get us a high chair. He never came back with it. We were sitting there with menus, but no silverware, no water, and no high chair.
The waitress wasn't aware of us because the party that was seated 5 minutes after we came in was immediately helped, and their orders were taken right then. We asked the waitress if the host was able to find us a highchair, and she seemed surprised that we weren't given one. She grabbed the host, who brought the highchair after 20 minutes of us sitting in confusion. We almost walked out, but then the waitress asked us if we would like to order. Im not sure why it took them so long to get to the point of ordering because it wasn't even that busy, and there were several employees standing around and chatting. The waitress, Vanessa, actually turned out to be very nice. She deserves 5 stars and not 2, but unfortunately, the overall rating is low due to the experience we had before she took our order.
We then ordered, but we're confused that they didn't have iced tea. Who doesn't have iced tea? We got our food, which was good, but we didn't have silverware, so we had to ask for that. Overall, our experience didn't reflect the 4.9 star rating at all. At the end of our experience, the waitress asked us to type a Google review right then. Maybe some people feel pressured to overly exaggerate the quality of their experience. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but the staff seemed to be rather nonchalant about recognizing me and my family just sitting there in the middle of the restaurant twiddling our thumbs, looking all confused for some reason. Maybe they found it entertaining to see how long we lasted until someone just started...
Read moreDisappointed after seeing so many 5-star reviews. Felt overpriced and left with a bad taste — not just from the food.
ATTEMPTED OVERCHARGE: We had a $20 coupon from another restaurant and showed it to our server when we ordered. He said to just include it with the check. We did — but he returned saying he’d already charged the full amount because he "didn’t see it," then went on about how hard it would be to cancel the charge. It felt like an attempt to discourage us from using it, which was disappointing.
AUTOMATIC 20% TIP: They add a 20% gratuity automatically, which is fine in theory. But the staff didn't mention it. It was a very small disclaimer at the bottom of the menu. Most places at least give you a heads-up, which avoids confusion or double-tipping. This felt sneaky.
$10 REGULAR WATER WE DIDN'T WANT: We asked for regular water, but our server brought out a bottle instead. I tried to stop him before opening it and asked to switch to Jamaica water instead. He ignored it, opened the bottle, and served it anyway. It ended up being $10. For water.
Food? JUST OKAY The tacos al pastor were good. Everything else was average. For $118 (6 tacos, 1 guac, 2 Jamaica waters, and that bottle of water), we expected a much better experience.
Overall, we left feeling like things were just… off. The lack of transparency, the intent to discard the cupon, and average food make it hard to justify the price...
Read moreCharged 10 dollars for water. Did not even drink it, he asked us after we ordered drinks if we wanted water. Would not have even got otherwise. I Asked if chips n salsa were included with dinner 20 mins after being there. (I'm use to chips n salsa just coming out before i eat im from the south).
About 10 chips and overly tiny over spicy salsa finally came out.
He kept rushing us to order (he goes we close in 40 minutes) no joke...his exact words.
Before we could even finish the chips n salsa he took it from our table because it was about 15 minutes until closing...
Multiple tables still their and one large table just got their food.
Then at the end. Did not give us back our change. He goes "did you want your change back? 10 dollars was the remainder our change. Ironically if he gave me my change back i was going to at least do a 15% tip. Even though it was a bad experience he would have got another 7 dollars out of me if he didn't do that. This Italian guy may have seemed nice waving people in to come on in and eat but it was just an act to nickel and dime.
I am a steakhouse owner/operator of over 12+ years and I would never do that or teach my employees to do anything he did.
I Never leave bad reviews but it was just alot for a Mexican place with sub par food, drinks and they don't even offer Mexican rice..only white rice.
It sucks because I'm going to be here all week and this place was right next...
