This place is clean and nice. The 1 thing you need to know about this place is there is no AC units in any room. The nice lady downstairs told me that the weather in Monterey is fairly cool and a lot of places just don’t use AC around here. That’s great for them but when you’re someone like me that sleeps at about 60° it ain’t cool enough with the window and a fan. Because all they give you is one little osculating fan.
Also with the window open at night, you hear all the traffic right outside your window waking you up and then there’s planes taking off flying overhead powering up and that wakes you up about every time in the night.
Here is another big problem, so having to leave my window open all night with no blankets on , little did I know that someone outside in the parking lot would be smoking Marijuana at 5:30 am. The stink filled our room with in seconds. I will never stay here again.
This is a comment for the management and OWNER. I’m not trying to give you a bad rap, but this is not the first complaint about this problem. It would be nice if you would put in the description of your place here and on Google maps that you do not have AC. I realize folks around here, maybe used to that but for any of us traveling through that have never been here, It would be respectful, If you would let us know ahead of time. Especially when I pay $200 a night. You can even purchase portable ac units that your customers could choose to use. They’re are many affordable options on Amazon, go check them out.
Also, if you look across the street at the Motel 6, they have air conditioning units.
Another complaint is that at the breakfast there are no meat or eggs for protein, I don’t think they even serve those. Just waffles and cereal and they had one hard-boiled egg left. The coffee was empty.
If you wanna firm mattress, don’t stay here, it was like laying in a bowl, now my back is all wrecked.
Like I said, I’m not trying to give you a bad rap, but if you care about your business and more importantly your customers, then you need to fix this. I leave reviews where I go to help others and to help businesses improve what they...
Read moreI wanted to provide some feedback as our stay hasn't been enjoyable. We stayed 3 nights at this location in July 2025. We had two rooms, so everyone could have a bed. Husband and 2 kids in one room. Myself and another kid in a second room.
Our first night was okay. There was some street noise and a car alarm or 2 went off but not bad. The second day/night was HORRIBLE! I went down for breakfast the first day. As I was getting breakfast (around 7:30am) a staff member at the front desk asked if I was checking out that day. I said no. She said, are you checking out tomorrow? I said no. I told her we are leaving July 30. I told her I didn't need housekeeping. I also told Rachel at check-in I didn't need housekeeping for the time we were staying here.
On July 28, we left to the aquarium and got back to the hotel around 2pm. We were surprised and concerned to see Best Western employees in my husband's room. The man said they were replacing a mattress. This wasn't communicated to us and we were upset as we keep our belongings in the room.
The night of July 28th was horrible. A man was arguing with someone in the parking lot around 9 or 10pm. He was using a lot of profanity and sounded angry. Then I woke up to loud rap music, banging and the smell of marijuana around 2am. This went on until I called the front desk around 3:22am. It sounded like it was above us. We didn't sleep well and were upset that another guest would be so inconsiderate and disrespectful.
We have also been very disappointed with the breakfast. The menu downstairs mentions yogurt, hard boiled eggs, etc. many times these items aren't available and the muffins taste borderline stale.
Also not having a/c in the hotel rooms isn't comfortable. My husband couldn't sleep because of this. I don't plan on staying here in the future.
I attempted to text the number listed and the hotel said they never received it. Also it's clear no smoking all over the property so why did my room smell like marijuana!?
The only good thing about this hotel. The rooms were very clean and everything did work (TV, lights, shower, toilet). Also the size of the...
Read moreThat star is for the staff- very helpful. Until DeAnza does an entire renovation do not go/stay here. I needed just a few hours close to the Monterey Regional Airport-so when my search came up this place-the website was misleading-I had booked suite 111- just GROSS NASTY floor in the living room space-no CENTRAL AIR-no ADA toilet fixtures-the heat source is old wall heaters-the sliding door and sliding windows were not locked as I took possession of this place for a few hours. I asked the front desk where is the AC- he said open your windows and your doors-shock-this place is on a very busy road Monterey/Seaside-no way is that SAFE-I walked back to 111-went in decided to just get through the time I needed & go- there was no hairdryer or iron/ironing board-it is supposed to be a suite-the bathroom lights would not stay on. There were four chairs all horrible to sit in. The desk area was covered with non Monterey/Best Western magazines-cluttered. The lights were awful and not enough of them for the space. I asked how do I get access to my email/twitter- he handed me a paper but my phone kept showing no signal-again I decided to suck it up and try to sleep-I kept smelling this gross body odor nasty coming from one of those pillows- I didn’t address any of this with the staff because I was not staying- if I were going to be staying in that suite for say my vacation-I would NOT BE staying there because I will be completely moving to another entire different hotel. DeAnza Monterey-I think they know they are beyond dated-the paint on the wall I was in was thick- yuck....
