The Fremont Inn — Hotel in Monterey

This hotel is NOTHING like it's portrayed. We had a horrible experience. There was bodily fluid stains on the sheets. The carpet was filthy, old and ragged in spots. The bed was like sleeping on concrete. The heater was VERY noisy and extremely hard to regulate to the desired temperature. The lighting in the room was dim and inadequate. The motel is also located right next to an adult book store which we were not aware of when we booked the room. After the first night we were not going to stay for the second night we had booked. We tried to explain to the front desk clerk about the problems with the room. He was uninterested and instead kept telling us there are "No Refunds". I explained to him that the bodily fluids and stains on the sheets and bedding were nasty and unsanitary. His response was that He Did Not Own The Motel but would speak to the owner and call us. We stayed at this motel several months ago and that is when I wrote this review. As of today 06/18/2019, I see that all the photos I posted (except one of the sign) of the bodily stained bedding, filthy floors, ect, has been removed from my review. Guess seeing the truth was just too much.

DO NOT STAY HERE! The owners (Indian couple Man with glasses and woman) are the rudest , meanest, and MOST unprofessional people I’ve EVER MET. From the moment I checked in, they were already yelling at me and lecturing me, and talking to me like I was a child. it’s as if they were upset that I was giving them business! and then to top it all off they have their little kids outside, screaming all day long running around the parking lot and they give anyone nearby a cold, hard stare as if you’re about to try and kidnap their kids or some thing so come Sunday my mom and my nephew come by to say hi and we’re standing outside your car and they yell at me no kids allowed but their kids run around all day long and make noise and scream!! And finally when it came time to check out, they were banging on our door at 9:30 reminding us that we needed to check out and every 20 minutes they will come by and tap on the door and then walk off so when I answer it there’s no one there just to hurry us up and get us out of there. Do NOT waste your time or money here. Creepiest and dirtiest place I have ever experienced. Stains / body fluids on the sheets , the top cover as well as the bottom ones. Toilet seat was dirty and not wiped down, lamps covered in dust , strong stench of smell you just can’t stand. Owners rude and disrespectful said they will not be giving any refunds. We left and then the woman decided to call us and act like she was the “ room service “ saying how our room was cleaned and we checked in at 11 and trying to complain at 6…. We checked in at FOUR PM!!!!! And there is a big sign check in 3pm, check out 11am. So she called us basically lying and trying to argue … what kind of owners do that. We were very respectfully and calmly asked for a refund so we can go our ways but that woman talked like she was ready to get whatever coming for her … so unprofessional , disgusting, disturbing , and creepy !
