Sushi quality was very bad. We ordered the lunch special and the fish choices the chef selected looked and tasted awful. First choice a crusty dry piece of Tilapia. OMG I was in shock. Then a piece of Salmon that looked like it was frozen since the beginning of time. The last piece this chef selected was a thin piece of shrimp that was so limp I think it died around the bronze age. For the salad it was iceberg lettuce with some purple cabbage submerged in a sauce that reminded me of baby food. For the main course they brought out these 8 little rolls that seemed so autistic and awkward on the plate. Even the fish inside were very strangely colored. The tuna was dark purple and the yellowtail was red like chicken liver. The meal was absolutely a disgrace to sushi and if I was involved in that restaurant I would sell and move on because it's obvious the motivation is gone. The highlight of the lunch was a lukewarm miso soup that actually had an interesting fish flavor. Im thinking it tasted good because it has been sitting around for sometime. The hot tea we ordered tasted like nothing, and the service was a smile and that was the end of the show. We left and went to another sushi restaurant and had a great time. Toro in Carmel exceeded our expectations and turned this disaster of a Saturday start into a beautiful day. Please understand that I love sushi and I was shocked when we stumbled across such a...
Read moreWe got there around 7:30 the lady server sat us at the tables in front of the sushi bar by the glass door. She took our order and brought us our food. When delivering the sushi she brought no soy sauce, no straw for the soda and I wanted some salt but she did not check on us. So since the nice sushi man was right there i asked him for everything we needed. So when it comes to customer service, the sushi man is always right there to serve you and make sure you have everything you need. The lady seems like she could care less about checking on her guest to make sure everything is alright. When she does come back it's a bit to late. I really felt like the sushi man deserved the tip since he was there for our needs and made our sushi rolls. The sushi is great but the teriyaki beef is paper thin. If I go again definitely sitting at the sushi bar. If you want a bento box O Sushi Restaurant down the street has a much bigger and better...
Read moreParading as a Japanese restaurant (serving many items a traditional Japanese restaurant would) this is an American restaurant, and not a good one at that, serving sushi and "ramen". I ordered a couple rolls and the ramen. The sushi rice was well overdone and sushi was drowned in sauce, the real crab in the roll was dry and had no flavor, (canned?). The ramen was actually terrible, a cup o noodle is more enjoyable but a lot actually. The broth lacked any depth, clearly just a shelf bought stock with some seasonigs thrown in, the pork was some sort of dry piece of leather with no flavor, the soft boiled eggs were marinated and underdone and I've never had noodles that just tasted like eggyolk. Overall, yuck. Not going back, would not recommend. The second star is because they were friendly. Oh and the draft...
