The staff was really friendly, and accommodating. I really can't praise them enough for how nice and helpful they were. This Motel 6 is pet friendly, which is the main reason we stayed there. However, it is in a location that is a bit run down, directly across from the Fairgrounds, with an adult bookstore and theatre on the same block. We did not let our teenage son walk the dog alone after dark, nor anywhere but along the main street during the day. This location is fine for adults and their pets on a tight budget, but I would not recommend it for families with children. The rooms were clean but very small. There was no clock, safe, refrigerator, hair dryer, or coffee maker. There were no "in room" amenities except soap, toilet paper and towels (i.e. no shower caps, lotion, Kleenex, shampoo, etc.). There was access to coin operated laundry, ice and vending machines. There was quite easy access to places to eat, within walking distance or a 5-15 minute drive. Most of these places were reasonably priced and had decent quality of food. Right across the street, the wood-fired grill restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. The WiFi worked well, but was not included in the price of the room. There was an option to purchase WiFi for $2.99 or $4.99 per day, and the lower priced option had a reasonable connection speed. Only one device can be connected at a time, though, so we had to buy two codes each day, since we had two laptops. The air conditioner worked reasonably well and the shower was fine. The plumbing did seem a bit old, and both our toilet and our sink backed up once during our stay. The staff were apologetic and we simply asked for a plunger, which took care of the clogs. The TV worked well, had a lot of cable channels, and was a "smart TV" so we could connect it to our laptop. So, over all, it could have been worse, but it could have been better. I might recommend this motel as an option to someone as long as I let them know what to expect. If we had known more about the neighborhood, we probably would have booked another motel. It was very close quarters for 2 adults, a...
Read moreI WISH I could give 0 stars. Came here from another motel. Must be the motels around here. I don’t recommend any of them honestly. Loved the hotel we stayed at in Santa Cruz, unfortunately it’s too far from the base jobs here.
We are military and have service animals. Have all the paperwork and everything. Told them we had service animals. They didn’t ask how many we had , (we have 3 between us) Day before we were told to leave. They had an issue with ANOTHER family because of their animals. And they CLEARLY HAD put they had 3 animals traveling with them. (The lady came to talk to me and SHOWED me her reservation). I could have started an issue then, because Motel 6 was in the WRONG COMPLETELY. And the woman was very upset. But I stayed out of it, since we still had to stay there. For days we stayed here and had no issue. Because our dogs are not issues. And usually in kennels if we are gone without them. Not until we came up with all 3 at once because my husband went back to work. Was it an issue. Tried to tell him they were service animals. He DIDNT CARE. (Yet him and his entire VERY LARGE family, live in the back with their screaming kids… okay..)
NOT UNTIL I cleared the room and walked up there to formally tell them I was leaving. And had him read my dogs tag that I have on my phone, did he ACTUALLY listen and then was worried. But that wasn’t until I told him I had a call in to my lawyer.
But if you wanna stay where they sell drugs out the back. And the room are DISGUISING. Than this is your place. Not until we turned out the lights at night the first night, did we find THIS GEM. 💎 thanks Izzy and crusty for this interesting end to that night. This is interesting… 🤔 . It’s on the wall right by the door.
But WE were the problem🤣🤣🤣 WOW. Monterey has truly lost its touch.
And my brother still hasn’t gotten his money refunded, so now will be going on to dispute that charge with the bank. We left quickly and quietly. When we could have done the COMPLETE opposite. But if you wanna also play with money, I can add it to the list of issues I’ll be dealing with.
Will also be making a complaint to the...
Read moreReally they should get 5 stars but I will explain my four star rating. First lets start with the Pros : The location is central to everything and the property is very clean. Second Pro : The price and quality I really do appreciate being able to prepay for my stay next I had requested a room with a tub on the interior second floor because I read other reviews. Guess what I got an interior room on the second floor with a tub. Thirdly, the property is next to an airport and guess what I did not hear a plane once. Fourth the coffee was really good and the vending area was clean I used the microwave and it worked heating my food up fast. Finally as I mentioned quality the sheets and the heater in my room worked and were super comfy. Okay, the Cons are few but significant in just a few missteps and probably nothing they could really control. First one, My room had an adjoining door. Probably no big deal but again single white female not thrilled that a) I wasn't made aware of this room b) I had to take a chair and block it Second, granted its hard when you are booked to the rim but I didn't have four towels in the holder. Again not a deal breaker because its just one person I just found it a minus. Final reason for the Con. I didn't have a car and I am visiting so while this is a plus this one item really annoyed me as I thought about it. I have two bags with me and about five hours before my transportation leaves when I ask the male desk clerk if I can keep my bags there he replies "the bags have to be picked up by noon" Really? REALLY? Like I am suddenly going to leave you with my worldly possessions for the hell of it. I admit I could have asked differently or explained my situation but I was more annoyed by that then when I stopped by to drop off said bags I was told the check in time would be 4pm instead of three. Admittedly, I will live and I will stay here again and I totally will recommend this hotel over the outrageously priced other hotels in the area ( I talking about you Comfort Inn ). Does everyone deserve five stars yes but the reality is you...
