Fairgrounds located in Monterey, CA. Also serving the immediate marina area that has a nice Boulevard connecting the two fine Coastal Town.
If you're coming down from up North or up from down south you can take highway 1 through Big Sur to get here and also coming up you can take Highway 101 then Highway 68 .It's located in a very safe and well lit (alby night) area of town,L;friendly and welcoming Vibe.
Always a pleasant experience attending any type of musical events, fair, carnivals or even Expos. I recently attended in Monterey county fairgrounds 2023 and it was organized and very clean. Various types of vendors and food concession stands. You can find anything from french fries, corn dogs, barbecue, icecream and cotton candy. Refreshments range from everything in between. Even though the food meets cooking and safety standards, it is very pretty much standard and average; nothing really stands out or be considered a superb plate. If the fairgrounds food isn't your fancy you can always visit any of the local restaurants outside eateries that are available at a footstep away within arms reach of the fairgrounds in the proximity of many restaurants and Cafes at very fair and reasonable prices
There's plenty of free outside parking if you don't mind taking a small walk. And if you're a little tired and don't want to walk you going to also pay for parking in the exclusive fairground car park.
Year-round the fairground collects fairly nice. Never too Hot because it is next to the Coast, get a nice Central Coast breeze, if it's too cold you can get where a nice fancy warm jacket or coat and some headwear. Based on the event, it can get crowded and difficult to traverse amongst the tight sardine packed attendees. Staff do their absolute best to organize and maintain order. Staff and security are pleasant and always helpful when needing directions on not only the fair grounds but the local scene.
Like i mentioned before various beautiful beaches at just a drive away. I would suggest parking at a mega lot and taking rideshare service around the Central coast, or a rental of a bicycle or scooter. The fairgrounds itself is elongated so it has a nice long layout , sometimes separating the Food CourtYard and venues/rides. The entrance at the gate and ticket booth flow with ease and even though there are significantly longer lines there are plenty of staff assisting at both entrance and Ticket booth If you are carrying a bag be ready for bag check and pass through a metal detector.
Monterey Bay fairgrounds is the place to be if you are in the Monterey county and looking for plenty of food, fun and entertainment such as The County Fair , Cali Roots ,Jazz Festival ,Tattoo expo and plenty more. Come dinnertime population doubled, couldn't move, couldn't leave to eat, use restroom, escape required Force and confrontation. Any attempt at viewing a show was destroyed by all the overpacked craziness. Every head decreased the sound(accepting the lack of actually being able to see the band or a screen). If we didn't know the content by heart, we would have no idea what song was playing. We left disheartened, sad for those who hadn't seen them before, many we talked with who'd traveled 2000 miles for this garbled version of awesome. So Sad. Maybe we need to stick to amphitheaters like they had figured out by the times of the ancient Greeks. NOT rodeo grounds which Always disappoint. God people, good vibes, good music, but with no crowd limits(greedy), bad setup(sound flat across flat ground & tons of people with no view) you lose a great experience. Props to the guests though, very minimal trash, friendly(until after dinner if trying to retrieve your blanket from where crowds rushed in suddenly) and bathrooms and portapottys clean😳 hand wash out of water mid-afternoon though... Kinda gross. Big underestimate on someone's part....
Read moreReally enjoyed our stay here. The camp host was super sweet and has the cutest dog, Emily who will happily greet you at check-in. The check in process was fairly simple with only one form to complete.
Our spot was huge and had a lot of room, even with two other trailers on either side of us. We were in the gravel portion of the campground which had a lot more space in comparison to the sites closer to the check in office, although those were on asphalt. The gravel was not an issue at all for us. The site had full hookups and was very clean as well. Trash cans and recycle bins can be found at every spot making it easy to keep your site clean.
I would like to note that you are directly in the flight path for the Monterey Airport so if you are sensitive to noise, this is not the place for you. It did not phase my family at all and we actually enjoyed watching the planes take off from the airport.
On another note, you are warned at check in that since the golf course is next door, if you are parked in the upper campsites, you run the risk of your rig being hit by golf balls. That wasn't something we knew but since we had a spot in the 30s sites, we were...
