THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING AND UNSAFE!!! Hilton Corporate or the location itself cares about cleanliness or customer experience so do yourself a favor and stay someplace else!
Upon our arrival, our anticipation quickly turned to dismay when we entered the room on the 19th floor, only to be greeted by an oceanfront balcony covered in pigeon feces and inhabited by several pigeons. To add to this unsightly spectacle, we found unsightly stains on uneven carpet that would be easy to trip over. Our immediate request for a room change led us to the 18th floor directly below the previous room, where we were confronted with an even worse situation – the balcony was again covered in pigeon feces, and the fridge bore the evidence of an uncleaned spill.
Despite our patience and understanding, our persistence was met with an astonishingly indifferent response from staff. We were told, "this is it," and that the system wouldn’t let us change rooms again and we would have to endure the night in these subpar conditions before possibly receiving an adequate room the next day.
Our subsequent relocation to a room on the 12th floor did nothing to improve our experience. The room had an offensive odor, a bathroom sink that refused to drain, and unsettling brown liquid droplets around the toilet's base. The kitchen lacked basic utensils, with only two forks provided, and the dishwasher held a spatula covered in mold, which had severe consequences for me, because I suffer from mold allergies. My exposure to this hazardous situation led to a severe asthma attack, nearly landing us in the emergency room. Valet staff was smoking cigarettes in the parking garage and putting them out on the roof of the elevator. The forced smell of cigarettes in a non smoking building further exacerbated my asthma.
Despite reporting these issues to your management, the response was inadequate. The moldy spatula and dishwasher remained unaddressed, and for the maintenance attempt, they dumped Drano down the wrong sink and left the trash behind and scum from the drain. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the hallways and elevators was questionable, the hot tubs were not properly heated or maintained, and the pool area was infested with biting flies. One hot tub was out of order, full of gross stagnant water. No wonder there were biting flies!! The walk to the hotel from the parking garage was disturbing and disgusting, garbage everywhere, vagrants hanging out.
However, it is the elevator incidents that stand out as the most harrowing experiences of our stay. On multiple occasions, the elevators malfunctioned, exposing us to serious safety risks. The first incident occurred when we went to the lobby to obtain our first room key. The elevator dropped suddenly and forcefully to the "M" basement floor, nearly causing me to lose my balance. It then took me back to the ground floor, but not without a heart-stopping jolt.
The second elevator mishap was even more distressing. One of the three times we had to switch rooms, the elevator dropped precipitously to the fourth floor. The emergency brakes engaged abruptly, knocking my luggage off the cart, and the elevator doors refused to open for several agonizing minutes. This near-death incident left us shaken and terrified. It is incomprehensible that such blatant safety violations are allowed to persist within a Hilton property. To compound matters, the elevators did not even display proper inspection notices, raising grave concerns about their maintenance and safety standards.
The culmination of these distressing events, combined with the emotional and physical distress experienced by my wife due to the mold, cast a dark shadow over what should have been a celebratory occasion. These circumstances essentially ruined our vacation and have eroded our faith in Hilton's commitment to guest safety.
Hilton offered us an apology and 60,000 points for causing me have an asthma attack due to lack of cleanliness and almost killing us in the elevators. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY APPALLING CONDITIONS AND...
Read moreThe hotel and room were beautiful, but not well cleaned. Our room was on the 2nd floor and had 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, full kitchen, dining and living room, and a full balcony. Our suite was one of only two higher priced suites in the building and they are both the only two rooms on the 2nd floor. We felt like VIP lol We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast every morning. Dinner was prepared well and was delicious. Customer service from all staff was friendly, but one younger restaurant staff member was on her phone behind the cafe counter and seemed to be annoyed guests were there during breakfast, while the more seasoned staff helped replenish food and take care of guest requests. The cafe dining area was cleaned consistently during breakfast, but during dinner our table was dirty from previous guest drink spills when we arrived and our waitress only used a dry towel to clean it. I appreciated her effort, but I wanted it disinfected, so I discretely grabbed soap and a towel from the restroom to clean it myself. The waterpark was fun for our family, but it was disappointing that only one slide was open. The hotel is right on the beach, but during the hours the pool was closed, before 9 am and after 10 pm, you have to walk around the side and front of the building to get to the beach or hotel. The workout room was great and had a variety of useful equipment and gym needs. The gaming room was fun for my children, but they could not enjoy it for long after I observed how dirty the equipment was. The valet parking was more of an inconvenience than a help due the lackadaisical and smug attitude of the drivers and slow service, but they kept our vehicle safe which I guess is all I should expect from the low customer service standard these days. The biggest problem was how dirty the hotel was. We noticed accumulated dust on our 2nd floor lobby floor the first night that only grew throughout our stay, it was never cleaned nor swept. Our suite was a great size, had updated furniture, had a private view of the waterpark, a wonderful view of the ocean, amazing floor plan... awesome potential!... but was unenjoyable because of how filthy it was. More attention needs to be spent on maintaining this great space. The horrible smell hit us as soon as we walked through the door, but all surfaces looked clean to the eye, and even the floors seemed clean at first glance. After looking closer at the space, we noticed dirt accumulated on the floor and even mold on the one baseboard spot, which combined, likely caused the unbearable stench in our suite. The floors seriously seemed as if they hadn't been mopped in weeks. We had to purchase cleaning supplies to clean and disinfect all surfaces in our suite ourselves because I didn't trust the cleaning staff to do the job well enough since they didn't do it before we checked in. Note: ALL housekeeping (removing trash, making beds, towel service, cleaning, etc) is only done by request during your stay and must be made 24 hours in advance. Even the games in the gaming room were filthy and had piles of dust inside them. We didn't leave because we didnt want to jump from the frying pan into the fire and end up in a worse situation. We were more comfortable after cleaning the space ourselves, but shouldn't have had to do that. I promise- I am not a clean freak, but who wants to vacation in grime and filth? Overall, the hotel was beautiful, but it was seriously neglected as far as cleanliness in the living and gaming areas. The room was well designed and updated, but I would not stay here again because of the poor...
Read moreI would not suggest staying here. First, I will comment on the hotel itself. But then I would like to discuss the location.
I am not a fan of this hotel. I felt "bamboozled" when we showed up, and was very unimpressed with this Hilton Hotel. First of all, the pictures of this Hilton Hotel are NOT representative of the current condition of this hotel. Sure, the main desk and lobby are all brand new and clean. But the rooms and the rest of the hotel are banged up and worn. I'm pretty sure this hotel had recent renovations (maybe?) and it hardly felt that way.
Our bathroom had black mold and water leak stains on the ceiling. The pipe below the sink would drip profusely onto the floor anytime we used it to wash our hands, etc. The room was stuffy and did not feel "clean." I felt uncomfortable sitting on the couch because it all felt dirty. The shower curtain wouldn't close all the way because the curtain rod was sloped downward. There was a zip tie on the curtain rod that I figure was intended to be used to clip the curtain to, so it would stay? Not sure. The shower and sinks would not drain. They would back up and water would just sit there. Not a big fan of showering while having the dirty water sit there around my ankles. The pool gave me DIRTY vibes. It looked, smelled, and felt dirty. And let's not forget that they provide you with ratted up tiny towels the size of a hand towel for you to use...not ideal. They need to invest in new towels.
I decided to give 2 stars because the staff was very friendly and the lobby/breakfast area was all clean and new.
Now onto the location. Sure, this location is great if you want to be close to the main Myrtle Beach boardwalk with the SkyWheel. But Myrtle Beach is just a NO GO you guys. It lives up to its name as the redneck riviera. As we looked out from our hotel deck, we could see rundown/abandoned hotels, trashy stores, and more. It all looked so dirty. After more research, I learned that this area is super super unsafe. Myrtle Beach City advises people to stay on the boardwalk at night because of the significant crimes that happen in this area. They suggest to avoid the beach at night. Also, I really really really really really really think it is important for this hotel to include the beach water safety advisories. From the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, they have issued a Long-Term Swimming Advisory along this stretch of beach. From their website, this means, "Long-term swimming advisory signs are posted at this location. Swimming is not advised within 200 feet on either side of the sign because high bacteria levels may be present, especially following rain due to storm water runoff. Wading, fishing, and shell collecting do not present a risk. Health problems typically come from swallowing the water." What kind of bacteria? Oh yes, bacteria from sewage waste. I was very disappointed that I had to find this information myself, instead of it being given to me before even booking this hotel. Of course it makes sense that the hotel doesn't want to share this information, but this is putting people at risk for gastrointestinal illnesses. Let alone the fact that people don't realize they are swimming in sewage water.
I am very disappointed in this stay and I left as...
