Terrible experience from start to finish — do NOT stay here!
I was beyond excited to book Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites for a very special one-day vacation with my toddler before our baby is born. Being very pregnant, this trip was especially important to me and my family — a rare chance to relax and enjoy quality time before our new arrival. Before booking, I spoke with Caleb on the phone, who promised me a top-floor corner room facing the lighthouse, assured me all my cleanliness concerns would be addressed, and guaranteed a late check-out at 12 PM if I signed up for their free membership. Trusting his word, I did just that.
The day after booking, I called to confirm we would still be in the promised room, and the woman I spoke to assured me we absolutely would be.
When we arrived, Caleb checked us in and confirmed we had late check-out. But when we got to the room, it was NOT the one promised. When I asked about it, Caleb just shrugged and said it wasn’t available — no apology, no alternative offered, no care at all.
The room was unbearably hot — the thermostat read 80 degrees! Because the AC didn’t work, we had to keep the blinds closed, ruining the oceanfront view we paid for. Maintenance came twice, wasting precious hours of our one-day stay for which we spent $450, completely destroying the carefully planned itinerary.
When I called the front desk for help, Aaron was shockingly rude, hung up on me mid-call, and then became unreachable. We were forced to move to a downgraded room that reeked of dog urine and had no phone to contact staff. When I requested fresh towels and linens, they brought us the ones from the previous room in a garbage bag — so disrespectful and unacceptable.
The pool was filthy and nothing like the photos — I found used bandaids on the chairs and pool edges. The pool area looked like a construction zone. I felt uncomfortable letting my toddler swim in such conditions.
On checkout day, despite the clear promise of 12 PM late check-out, someone knocked on our door at 11 AM asking why we haven’t left yet. Then two staff members, including the manager Tiffany, showed up 15 mins later and told me I was not signed up for late check-out and that Caleb must have “forgot,” even though I told her I had signed up for the membership for the late check out. When I asked to speak with Tiffany about our horrible experience, she promised to call me later, specifically Wednesday. It’s now several days later, and I still haven’t heard a single word.
This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. They made false promises just to secure my booking, then utterly failed to deliver on every single one. The rude, dismissive staff, disgusting room conditions, and total lack of accountability not only ruined the one day we had for a special family vacation but wasted hundreds of dollars and caused my toddler distress — and added stress and discomfort during a very vulnerable time for me, being pregnant.
If you’re thinking about booking Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites, don’t make the same mistake I did. Save your money, time, and sanity — book anywhere else. You will regret it otherwise.
In response: The AC was only working bc it was being repaired after we had already checked in the room, wasting part of our 1 day vacation. This should have been addressed before our arrival. Staff interactions were unprofessional — Aaron hung up on me, and Caleb made promises (including room preferences and confirming late check out multiple times) that were not kept. I have no reason to fabricate finding used bandages at the pool. In hindsight, I should have taken photos, but I would expect that a guest’s word would be taken seriously. To top it off, towels and linens were handed to me in a garbage bag, which was both unhygienic and disrespectful. Rather than taking accountability or offering to make the situation right, your response feels more like an attempt to discredit my account. That experience alone has confirmed that I will not be booking with Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites...

Read moreSuper brief overview: Overall, we loved our stay! Before booking your own, few quick things to be aware of.
Be aware, this isn’t a five star hotel, nor is it trying to be. I would classify it more as a higher quality Best Western/Comfort Inn, so on. The price is reflective of that. Also, I noticed there are a few other points in other reviews that seem to be with how the hotel deals with COVID, which I disagree with. Regardless to your views on the pandemic, any change made is all in the name of cleanliness, so I appreciate these changes even though they are just slightly inconvenient. Also be aware they’re a little short staffed as a lot of places still are, but the only thing we noticed in that regard is that it isn’t daily housekeeping, but you can ask for it if need be.
Breakfast is all packaged stuff like breakfast burritos, muffins, granola bars, yogurt and such, so it isn’t a full kitchen, but that’s fine. Also, due to COVID, you have to have someone hand the food to you. I view it as a positive since it means less hands rifling through your food.
Service is great! People were very friendly, and the maintenance staff that was walking around always had suggestions about where to eat and what to order. Very friendly.
Rooms have a gas fireplace and are decently sized. Great view! Be aware that the balconies are a little slanted downward, but I think this is more of a drainage thing since it’s the coast. Very sturdy, but for anyone that is scared of heights, as some in my family are, it can be scary to them. Overall, the rooms are very clean, but if you’re the super nit picky type (which I’m not), you’ll notice one or two things. I noticed that the ceiling in the shower was a little dirty and cracking somewhat. Nothing too bad, and it doesn’t impact me in any way. I saw no indication of any sort of pest issue, including the beds.’ The beds were just slightly too firm for me, but I know some people prefer that, and it still wasn’t too bad. They come with the standard microwave, mini fridge, and plenty of space for suitcases and such.
Parking has a lot of spots and is two levels, but because of it being right on the beach, the ramps can be a little bit of a beach. Also, the garage is pretty compact.
Definitely make sure to try the salmon chowder! It does go quickly, but it’s easy to see why! Fresh salmon!
You won’t find a crazy ton of amenities such as a spa or anything, but there is a really nice viewing area outside, along with a pool and a hot tub.
Overall, great hotel, which I...
