SLOW SERVICE. We will not return. We were met at the door and told to sit down and someone would be with us right away. Took 8-minutes before anyone came to our table, while 4 employees stood behind the bar chatting, very few customer, it was just after 4pm. Chicken & mushrooms. Chicken was overcooked, The sauce was ruined by the fresh thyme. The dips for the avocado fries and the regular fries are too spicy. Chicken enchilada had a foamy sour white sauce, not your typical enchilada sauce. Couldn’t help thinking it had gone bad. Found a long black hair in my dish. They took it off the bill, however, if they want a fancy expensive place for people to eat, they need to give better customer service and they should’ve given us our meal for free. I mean, how disgusting to find somebody’s hair in your food!?! The waitress asked if we wanted to borrow water and yes, we did please bring more water, but it never came. When we asked for to-go containers she brought the containers, never offered us dessert (as they had offered others) and didn’t bother to bring our bill so we had to keep trying to flag someone down to get our bill, and that was after several attempts the flag someone went down because it was a long black hair in our food, we had to raise our voices, while waving our arms around (being clearly ignored) to get any of them to pay attention (or respond) and the first one that responded just sort of tipped her head and then went and asked who’s table that was, instead of finding out what we wanted, and why we were forced to yell out to get anyones attention. It wasn’t that busy. They were too busy chitchatting just inside the kitchen door and behind the bar rather than waiting on their customers.
We did not leave a tip because your tip is for good service even mediocre service, but our waitress was super slow and there was no other reason for it except that she was busy chitchatting with other employees, she didn’t bring us water even after asking us if we wanted more water, didn’t bring our bill when she brought the takeout containers, just overall poor customer service overall.
This is the first time and probably the only time we will go to this restaurant, because the service was so slow, well, that and the ling black hair in our food, and we still had to pay after being grossed out and sending the dish back. They should’ve asked us if we wanted to try a different dish, and they should’ve comped our entire meal, perhaps offering us a cocktail on the house, because that is how you get return customers after such a huge screwup as long black hair wound around the food. Barf. The french fries were the only thing that we would ever order again. The avocado fries were fine, except for the coding was way too thick and the sauce was not correct for avocados, it should’ve been a smooth, white sauce, mayonnaise, sour cream, something like that, not a spicy, burn your mouth, red sauce. We timed the food and they did not have time to cook it after we ordered it, before it arrived at our table, (either time they brought it to us) and that would account for the extremely tough, overcooked chicken and the high temperature of the food, it was precooked and heated by microwaved.
** Lucky we are locals so we didn’t care about staring at the ocean, but they had reserved signs on all of the tables with the...
Read moreDefinitely the strangest dining experience we have ever had….. or perhaps the lack of? We were so excited to try this place as the food looked so good and the reviews were great. So my husband made a reservation for my birthday. We arrived and when my husband told the gal in the lobby we had a reservation she stated, “just have a seat anywhere and someone will be right over”. It was a gorgeous day so we opted to sit outside. There were two other couples and the one open table in the sun was dirty so we stood near the table and waited….. and waited. While waiting, both couples had two different servers being then drinks- two servers who both absolutely ignored our existence. We then thought just maybe we would have better luck indoors and found a table near others (hoping it would bring service). Service never came. We waited nearly THIRTY MINUTES before we concluded the food couldn’t possibly be worth the wait. I took a look at the dishes as we were leaving and everything looked dry and boring. We never did have anyone acknowledge us as we left….. talk about TERRIBLE, nonexistent...
Read moreThis is the true gem of the remodel, re-branding from The Whaler to the Allred. The addition of a restaurant and bar is such a great addition and the fact that its drinks and menu are tasty makes it the star. The service from the staff was fantastic. We liked it so much that we ate there twice in our 3 night visit. I like that all of the dishes are “sharing” size as we couldn’t decide. The first night we shared some of the appetizers and the “handhelds” and the 2nd night 3 of the “fork and knife” entrees and both times it was the perfect amount for 2 adults . Great special cocktail menu and excellent bar choices. The ambience is also what makes the Allred Bites a great addition to the Nye Beach area. Stunning 2 story windows for views of the sunset, outdoor area with gas fire pits and an 2nd floor rotunda with large family tables all done in really upscale fabrics and materials. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, make your way over to this new and exciting addition to the Nye Beach scene. Oh, and being open until 10pm is a huge...
