This was our first family trip to Newport. We love the location of the hotel we stayed at, Inn at Nye Beach. It is nestled in the Nye Beach District where there is a variety of restaurants for your taste, an ice cream parlor with over 150 flavors to choose from, gift shops, and more.
The one thing that we immediately noticed in Newport is that the weather was mild, not as cold as the temperatures reflect. We packed mostly warm clothing for the five day-four nights stay and were pleased that we did not need to wear our sweaters/long johns. Nye Beach District is very crowded during the summer. We intentionally planned our family vacation in the fall season because of safety precautions for our children, and we enjoy the quiet relaxation away from busy crowds.
We had a wonderful time at Don Davis Beach Park. We stepped down 10 flights of stairs to get down to the beach before we learned about the beautifully paved walkway at Don Davis Beach Park. We got our exercise stepping back up those 10 flights of stairs. LoL The children flew a kite and played with beach toys that were offered to buy in a hotel beach package.
We happen to be enjoying the beach at the same time a young man named Josh was paragliding over the beach. I got the opportunity to speak to Josh about the cost of the gear, how to read the wind and knowing when is the right time to go paragliding. 😃 #GodisGood #Therapy 😊❤️ (I post long reviews. I'm a novice writer, working on my...
Read moreThis is a nice beach. I didn't see the bathrooms but there is a building. The walk down to the beach is a bit long but there is a nice ramp walkway. They do have a series of benches along the 2nd half of the path where you could sit, look at the ocean, and take a rest. I wouldn't call it wheelchair accessible because it's a bit steep and there is a very bumpy patch right at the end of the ramp.
We went during low tide and the water seemed far away. I bet there'd be quite a bit of dry sand even at high tide. It was definitely a sandy beach, exactly what we were looking for. There is a patch of rocks right at the water's edge though. Even when we were there, the waves splashed up at the edgeor the rocks.
I like this beach because of the history and art. Near the parking lot is a partially buried whale skeleton with some rocks engraved with information about whales and how the skeleton got there. Another monument describes who the park is dedicated to. This is engraved on a polished stone wall, on the other side of which is a poem. Very neat! Some more engraved stones further down the path describe who the path is dedicated to. There is also a neat spire along the path.
Very scenic and a neat look into some of Newport's history. A great place to build sand castles and...
Read moreIt was cold and windy and foggy and there was not much visibility but we noticed there was a wooden gazebo with an Open door where we could safely look out where we could safely look out and have shelter from the wind. As we drew closer we could hear beautiful music coming from the gazebo and when we went inside there was a lone violinist playing with an accompaniment tape absolutely stunning performance I mean seriously so gorgeous there were a couple of people there recording him and I managed to get a small snippet. For a few minutes we were transported to another world in a place with beautiful acoustics by the seaside in perfect peacefulness. What an amazingly beautiful surprise to stumble onto on the Oregon coast! 00 I will forever remember that moment and I am always so grateful for the many beautiful surprises I find along the way on this tremendously wonderful...
