I set out for an end of summer trip and found myself in the midst of a late summer storm. I pulled off the highway and discovered the Allred hotel. Walking in wet and cold from the storm I was greeted by the friendly staff and made to feel welcome to sit and stay. I proceeded to the lobby Bites & Bar where I warmed myself by a burning fire. The place has a relaxing welcoming atmosphere for any group size, an individual looking for some peace and quiet, or a large group out for a good time. I took a table near the fire and ordered a specialty cocktail. It was a concoction of fresh flavors done in a unique style, it was quite refreshing. An hour later I figured the storm was not going to pass so I asked about a room for the night, the price was agreeable so I got a room. Not ready to turn in yet I went back to have some food and another drink or two. They have a nice selection of small plates, they all sounded so good it was hard to choose, but I got the comforting Blackened Chicken Mac & Cheese, it hit the spot. The selection of local craft beers was a nice offering to accompany the dishes on the menu. After getting my fill I went to my room and found a nice room with everything I would need, a soft robe, balcony with a table and chairs, and a very comfortable bed, for a hotel, I slept like a baby. When I woke the storm had passed and the view from my room revealed an undisturbed ocean front, just fabulous. I had a nice shower with everything I needed provided for me, then went down to the lobby Bites & Bar to see what they had for breakfast. The coffee was great, good deep flavor with a smooth taste texture, the breakfast food selection is a bit slim, but I got a breakfast sandwich and ate it out on the patio in front of the firepits they have burning to make enjoying that undisturbed ocean view all the more cozy. I took a nice morning walk around the city of Newport, and it delivered with great reward. I found it to be a great town for walking with a lot of things to do and places to see, shop, and eat. I think I will stay another night. I highly recommend the Allred hotel and Newport, Oregon to...
Read moreWe stayed at The Allred Hotel in Newport, Oregon, on Friday, August 22, 2025, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Overall, our experience was very good: the facilities are modern, the rooms comfortable with spectacular views, and the location is excellent to enjoy the beach and nearby attractions. We especially appreciated the thoughtful detail of finding champagne in our room, which made our celebration even more special. 🥂
That said, we feel it’s important to highlight an area for improvement regarding the front desk service. Upon arrival, our room was not ready and we were offered the choice to switch or wait 20–30 minutes. We chose to wait in the lobby bar, but after more than an hour, when we returned, James at reception was not very courteous. His comment that the room was “very dirty” felt unnecessary and left us with a negative impression, particularly since we had an important commitment and were already short on time.
Fortunately, a young lady at the desk was extremely kind and proactive—she immediately informed us that the room was ready and made every effort to improve the situation.
In summary, The Allred Hotel offers wonderful hospitality, thoughtful touches, and a perfect location, though we believe that additional customer service training would make the experience even better. Still, it is a place we recommend and one we would gladly return to for more...
Read moreTo ownership,
I am writing to share feedback regarding our recent experience at your restaurant and bar. My wife and I visited last weekend for breakfast, dinner, and drinks, and we were very impressed with both the food and service. This positive experience led us to book a room and return this weekend.
However, our recent visit to the restaurant was disappointing. The quality of both the food and service was noticeably different from our previous experience, to the point where it felt like different chefs were in the kitchen.
The main reason for this review, however, is an incident that occurred at the bar. My wife and I came down for a drink and seated ourselves as no one seemed to greet us. We waited at the bar for approximately ten minutes. During this time, a person named Devon, who appeared to be a manager, was making a drink and conversing with a fellow bartender directly in front of us, but did not make eye contact or acknowledge us. Additionally, four servers were standing around the bar, and not one of them addressed us or made eye contact.
As owners of a food business ourselves, we understand the importance of guest service, and we would not tolerate a manager treating guests in this manner.
Thank you for your time and attention to...
