We absolutely loved the room. It was our first time staying at an Extended Stay America so we weren't sure what to expect other than the usual amenities, and we were right. However, the layout was great. Now, here's what we loved: First, I forgot my pillow at home, and I have to have a special thickness to my pillow for my neck (most hotels have overstuffed, tight pillows and I can't use those) so I was worried, but they had 3 pillows of varying degrees of stuffing, so one was perfect for my neck! Second, so few places offer decaf for morning coffee, but some coffee drinkers are dedicated decaf drinkers for health reasons. While they didn't offer liquid decaf, neither did they have a pot of decaf sitting getting burnt. They offered instant, which was fine for my first quick cup of the morning, and I truly appreciate it, as will other decaf drinkers. Third, the entire staff, cleaning staff included, was extremely helpful and pleasant. Finally, they have a pool, and we had no idea lol! We didn't utilize it but it was nice to know it was there if we wanted to. Here's the things that we would change or improve on: first, there were no disposable plastic cups with which to get a cup of water. We realize this is an extended stay place, but I don't know of too many people that travel with their own cups. Second, there was a dead bug in the tub. Third, while looking at our temporary kitchen, we found that the cabinets and stove drawer had not been cleaned. There was spilled sugar and food food particles in them. We notified the clerk as we left. Fourth, the Wi-Fi is horribly unreliable so plan on using data or a mobile hot spot. Finally, the cable channels are lacking unless you like the news. We don't watch the news, and there are a few (4 or 5 channels) that weren't news but then there's the kids channels in there too. We stream television at home so going back to just a few cable channels was challenging. Overall, the highlights far outweighed the bad points. We will book here again for our next stay...
Read moreYou get what you pay for. Paying less than $100 for basically what you could call a mini-suite was the only great part. Lost 3 stars because everything, besides the room itself, was much less than desirable. I will stay at a different hotel if I ever return to the Charleston area.
To start off, I had to wait 25 minutes for the front desk attendant to show up when I arrived to check in at about 6:00 PM. I never saw an attendant at the front desk again until I sat and waited 10 minutes when I wanted to check out. Every time I went past the ront desk, there was someone waiting there. The sign they put on the front counter says to dial 0000 on the courtesy phone, but there was no courtesy phone in the lobby.
I stopped for gas about 20 minutes up the road and made my reservation on my phone through a popular online hotel search website. Because of my reservation, I was obligated to pay for at least my first night. That was lucky for them beause I and the other person who came in right after me would have left and stayed somewhere else that at least appeared to want our business.
I never could get the WiFi to work. On check in, the sweaty front desk lady stuggled to get my info right, even though it all should have been there to copy and paste from my reservation. Fortunately I could survive without it.
It is a "non-smoking" hotel, but people smoke right outside the front door and all around the parking lot. I got plenty of second hand smoking in during my stay. Pretty sure the people in a nearby room were smoking in their room(s), because I could smell it. The smoke detector for my room was disconected and missing, probably because someone who stayed in my room previously was smoking and disconnected it.
If you are a smoker and don't ever mind waiting for the front desk attendant to be available, this is a great place to stay. If you can't tolerate some cigarette smell or if you have no patience to need to wait for a front desk person to be available, then you should find somewhere...
Read moreDuring my stay hotel lost power for about 3hrs. While sitting in the dark in my room someone also had a key card and opened my door good thing I had the extra sliding lock on or else they would have been able to enter my room. Asked the front desk if it was them they said no and could not provide a explanation and security never left the laundry room. So When I had to go out and get food I took all of my belongings with me just to make sure they did not go missing while I was out of the room. After returning which was around 35 minutes later the lights were back on so I brought my items back inside with me but I still did not feel at ease after the door incident and was not able to get comfortable in the hotel. I am sure that I will not get a refund which I am not looking for the entire amount back but deserve at least half of it back. If there was security there I could not tell the side door was always left ajar si I would close it when I went out since my room was right by the exit I would not recommend this place for anyone to stay and pay any hard earned cash the doors to the room have at least a four to five inch gap from the Floor walls and doors are paper thin so I was also disturbed by the occupants across the hall with there TV and loud conversation that was echoing into my room. I know that some people might find this place as cost savings but I found out that all extended Stay America are not all the same which I stayed at another one years ago in Mount Pleasant and it was hell of alit better than the place I stayed at in North Charleston. I can say that the room was clean and they can only get points there and the lady that checked me was pleasant and provided good customer service to make you feel that you were staying some place nice until you walk around the corner and realize that cutting cost might not always be the best way to go. Take care readers and be...
