I'm not picky when it comes to hotels. All that I'm really looking for is a clean place to lay my head at night. We are a military family in the middle of moving our family across the country to our new assignment. We chose this place because it was the cheapest and because it had a pool for the kids to swim in. The first room we checked in to, a non-smoking room, smelled of smoke so we asked if there was another room available and the nice girl at the front desk was kind enough to move us across the hall to a new room (and even took $5 off our bill). Good service so far. The room was kind of dirty smelling, outdated and there was a big stain on the carpet as soon you walk in. I figured, "you get what you pay for." This hotel was more of a motel, but you really can't beat the price (so I thought). The pool was what you would expect for the price, so no complaints there. We were told to use our room towels for the pool and they would do a one-for-one swap. Well, there are four of us and there were only two towels in the room so we used two towels for our two children to swim. The next morning when we went to get fresh towels they told us they were out of towels. Okay, no big deal we just re-used the damp towels from the night before when we took our showers. All four of us. Kind of a pain, but again, you get what you pay for I guess. The breakfast was what you would expect for a motel breakfast. They ran out of just about everything by 0830. Again, whatever, it's only an $80 hotel. We packed up our things, got on the road and got breakfast at a gas station. About 5 days later we noticed an additional $250 charge on our credit card, separate from the room charge. I called the Baymont and the girl working the front desk checked her notes and said that we were charged for a stain that was on the carpet. I can assure you, we did not leave a stain. We did notice a large stain by the front door, but why would I feel the need to bring that to the attention of the staff? It's a stain and judging by the look and smell of the hotel, it was par for the course. The young lady said she couldn't do anything about the charge but would leave a note for the owner to call me. Well it's been about another 5 days and no calls or voicemail. I called the hotel back today and they confirmed that the charge was going to stay but again, there is no one there that I could talk to about it. They didn't call me or anything. They just charged my card $250. I'm contesting the charge with my credit card company but it's very frustrating that a business can charge you for whatever they want just because they have your credit card number. If you stay at this place you might want to bring your own towels and pay with cash, as long as you can stand the smell and aren't expecting much of a breakfast. But don't give them your credit card number.

Read moreThe staff were really friendly, so I gave them 5-stars on service. The rest of it was a 3-star experience for me. I booked 2 nights. My room was mostly clean. The blankets and sheets had stains on them. Since I was here for a combat sports tournament, and since I drove 5+ hours to get here, I was too excited/exhausted to care. The air conditioning was ice cold, so that was awesome. There was a mini-fridge and most of the standard amenities; however, one amenity was missing, it's one I'll plan for in the future - a coffee brewer in the room. There was free breakfast, but I didn't use it because there are food places like Cracker Barrel next door and Waffel House around the corner. The location is really good. The hotel is off a side street next to the highway. There's a large gas station at the end of the street that has everything you need for convenience. Wal-Mart and other major retail stores are within 1-3 miles. The massive convention center is within 2 miles. The hotel has ice machines, but none of them worked. The cable television didn't work (or I couldn't figure out how to get it to work). The key cards were blank. These are all minor inconveniences that didn't make a difference to me. Just mentioning them. I showed up a couple hours before check-in. They let me check-in early which I appreciated, but it did come with a $25 early check-in fee. There were cameras throughout the halls and a few cameras outside. Still, I would lock my doors (as the hotel says you should) because the area surrounding the hotel feels a bit run down. Overall, my experience wasn't bad. The friendly staff really helped, and it was good enough to enjoy the rest...
Read moreStayed here for a week. I personally don't eat hotel brekfast because there are no healthy options however my husband and son loved the options they had here. There was waffles you can make yourself, scrambled eggs and sausage patty, yogurt, coffee, toast, blueberry muffins and some oatmeal(the sugary type). Other times they changed the sausage and eggs to biscuits and gravy and cold hard boiled eggs. The pool was well kept, but the gym needs improvement. There were 4 machines, the treadmill was not working and the tvs on the machines don't work. It served its purpose while we were there though. Also, please fix the primo water fountain. The staff was friendly and offered room service everyday. The room however was so humid, we kept AC at 73 or 70 and it was too humid I'm not sure why. The beds were comfortable and the showers were clean. Parking was always available and a nice treat that my family appreciated was the afternoon strawberry lemonade refreshment in the lobby. I did use the washer and dryer and they work good, it's $2 for each load and you can purchase the detergent for $1. The washer cycle is 30 min and the dryer is 45 min.
We also liked the location, across the street is the hurricane harbor water park and next to it was the mini golf park.
I wish hotels had healthier options. Just personal choice. Staying there for a week was a good choice, and the hotel was quiet I could barely hear the people upstairs or next door.
Front staff was always friendly and if we asked for extra sheets or new towels they always provided with a...
