I’m no stranger to hibachi, but I’d never been to this restaurant before, so we gave it a shot. The good: 1.) The chefs are all very entertaining and do a great job interacting with patrons! The server who assisted was pleasant and helpful and even interacted with our youngest child a bit. 2.) The food was well prepared and very generous portions were provided. The bad: 1.) The restaurant had opened, but there was trash laying everywhere in the parking lot, including several matted down pieces of trash right at the front door. The trash can at the front entrance had no garbage bag and was to the top. Not a great first impression. 2.) The front entrance was interesting and was inside with a fish display, but felt dirty and immediately once inside, the floors felt greasy (degreaser cleaner anyone?). 3.) The restrooms were as expected - not well maintained, smelly, and just generally unkept. All of this made me wonder what the back kitchen looked like and what their health department reports look like. 4.) The food though plentiful, was overly salted and nearly unpalatable - and since we were sat with others outside of our party, it wasn’t possible to ask for this to be adjusted. Our bill was $250 for a family, which you’d think would have meant we had a lavish day out, but unfortunately our experience fell short.

We used to go to Wasabi quite a bit when it first opened. Over time we stopped going as much and this last weekend, we decided to go back. Boy has this place changed and not in a great way. When we walked in, neither of the three employees at the host stand greeted us, they were dressed really casually, not what you'd expect of the hostess. We sat at the bar where everything had a feeling of not being clean. The entire restaurant could use a refresh, it is looking very tired at this point. There was also a place at the bar where it appeared that someone had kicked in the wood paneling. The workers were clearly stressed as we could overhear their conversations about being understaffed. Two of the 4 sauce bowls that were out on the bar were dirty as were one of the napkins. The drinks were very good as was the Angry Dragon roll. The Snow roll was not, it was very fishy, too fishy. The hibachi was tasty, although the chicken and the steak was overcooked. We asked for medium temp and it was definitely well done. When we left, no one said goodnight, but that wasn't really a surprise. At this point, we are unlikely to return. But I hope they make one changes.

A nice break from the usual places to visit during lunch. There seemed to be parts of the floor missing upon entry, but it was not a dangerous situation. The rug camouflaged whatever was happening there. A bit of a dreary, unclean, vibe walking in. The excitement that once filled this restaurant was no longer present. Once seated, the tables and stove top were clean, and it didn't take too long to be met by the waiter. The waiter got the job done but nothing extra during the experience. Perhaps asking if anything was needed during the meal or offering a refill on our beverages would have made for a better experience. The food was fine. A couple of quests were not happy with their fried rice, but I was happy with mine. Everything was made well, but my vegetables sat a bit too long on the grill, and being served the "but scrappings" of the grill was a little off pudding. With a couple of missteps, the experience was not the worst. The group was in agreement to come again one day.

Book a party of ten this past Saturday 2/6/21 2:00 pm for my granddaughter 13 birthday thinking this was going to be a enjoying experience for her and it was a nightmare instead. The party started 45 minutes late because our server was all over the place It started out with the server she was not very greeting and confused of what we wanted we didn’t receive a menu but a plastic paper where you take a picture of and the menu appears, probably due to the pandemic you can barely see the menu on a phone especially when some of the letters are in light green-she did not explain the menu or if they had any specials of the day or was even interested that it was my granddaughter birthday like I’m your server what do you want! Non shalant! The server seen that there were one person over 10 one of the parents show up and that made our party 11 people the server told her she had to leave we couldn’t believe that so we asked for a manager an Chinese lady came out just didn’t want to hear what we were saying about the parent unexpectedly being there we also explain that a kid under 5 wasn’t eating she didn’t care no the manager stated that parent had to leave. So things went on, now time for our receipt I could not believe it! They charged us an additional $2.50 for fried rice I had items on my receipt that wasn’t mine there were one other person adult that she were riding for her kids here items were on my receipt I ask for a manager and this time a black African young lady came to our table already with an attitude I tried to explain to her my issue she didn’t want to hear it appears with that attitude I ask her why are we being charged $2.50 fir fried rice when noodle and rice comes with the meal she said no we’ve always charge that amount and it’s on the menu I said I didn’t see that on the menu she got a menu and shoved it in my face the menu touch my chin and my daughter-in-law stated why do you have that menu that close in my Mother in law face I had too push the menu out of my face twice she kept saying see see the server had to take the menu from her now all of the sudden everyone from the back the employees came out we felt threatened for our lives she took her mask off and started talking stuff we told her she was very unprofessional she called the police on us she told us we were band and could never come to eat there every again this person an staff started recording us on there phones this women the manager her name is Tasha she was very rude and unprofessional it was like the manager from HELL! the children were and felt threatened by this manager she needs to be fired! Period! Why would you let someone like that bring your business down! it wasn’t like we didn’t want to pay our bill! WOW! I seeking a lawyer to see what my rights are!...

We went to the Beachwood location on Sweetest day. The outside had no lights on, not even their sign. Honestly questioned if they were open or not. We walk in and there are 4 hostesses, 3 of which were on their phones, all wearing coats. If they weren't standing behind the hostess stand, you'd confuse them with guests. It was only a 30 minute wait to be seated - no issue there. Waited almost as long for the single bartender to recognize us and make our drinks as we wait. She obviously had little bar experience - there wasn't a lot of bar business and she wasn't multi-tasking. From the time we sat down to when the server actually took our order was over an hour. The tables weren't wiped down - I had a few sticky spots in front of me. The floor was greasy and slippery - very unsafe. The cook tops had no controls, the cook working on the next table had to use his apron to grip the lever to turn it off, and there was onion all over the floor where the cooks' work. Then as the cook was doing his "presentation", he flung water on my boyfriend. Not knowing at the time if it was oil or water though - seeing as he was lighting the cooking surface on fire. Boyfriend thought he was going to catch fire too. Then, he lit the actual counter on fire so he could use his bare hand to light the onion volcano on fire. When he did this, the fire was really close to another patrons plate - her eyes looked shocked and she questioned him about it just being in fire. Wasn't in a bowl or plate, just free flowing on the table top. Not safe at all! It went out after a few minutes. He did this again at the end of the dinner for another patron. Called it her "birthday candle". He actually walked away while it was still burning - caught some rice in fire too. I went to the bathroom mid dinner and the place was atrocious. Toilet paper everywhere, counter tops covered in water, and mirrors splashed with water. The hostess were once again on their phones - clearly not having enough to do. The server went missing for long periods of time. With business being slowed down at this point, (many empty tables) there was no reason for his lengthy disappearance. Not to mention that tables went unbused for well over 20 minutes. Bus boys were standing around talking - no reason for multiple dirty tables. Took us over 2 1/2 hours to complete our meal after being sat at a table. Definitely not going back to that location ever again. Wasabi corporate needs to get in there and retrain staff and clean up the place. We were expecting a "high class hibachi" experience and got nothing close to that. ...

The food was ok but that was all. Our chef basically came out, cooked out food with very little interaction with any of the 4 families or children at the table, and then left the table. Other chefs around us were making their tables laugh, doing knife tricks, other tricks, lots of interaction and jokes, tossing the food and sake at people, and that's why you go to a HIBACHI place, for the show. My mother in law had never been and neither had my kids and I was really looking forward to them experiencing a show. Instead, after our chef left us with a lack of a show, my kids and the other families kids at the table were left asking why did that chef do this, why didn't our chef do that? He literally did nothing. And what's worse, 4 families, none of us knew each other, we all had the same complaints and the managers answer was that each chef does what they want or not there is no set standard which is fine but at least have a minimum that they have to do something. If people just wanted their meal cooked and handed to them they wouldn't go to a HIBACHI place. The manager said there was no corporate or anyone above her that we could talk to and that the owner did not want to deal with any guest complaints either so basically she was telling us that this is the way they do things and there was nothing we could do or no one we could talk to. 2 kids at the table had birthdays and their parents were very upset. The customer service handling the issue was terrible and I understand each chef is different but the lack of consistency is terrible. Chefs all around giving a fabulous show with tons of laughter and cool tricks and then one chef doesn't do anything except come out, ask how you want your steak, cook your meal, and say thank you and leave. There should be a minimum at least do some knife tricks or throw a piece of broccoli in someone's mouth or SOMETHING ! you shouldn't have to wonder if you will get a good chef this time. It should be consistent every time. And the lack of resolving the problem was very disappointing as well. The food was good but that's all. With how long you wait for a table and how much it costs to take a family to eat there the customer service should have been much,...
