I booked this location for 2 weeks. Initially I thought it was a pretty decent hotel. Check-in was fast and stress free and the clerk was polite. We got to our room and didnt take notice things until the next day. It all seemed ok at first. The room was tidy and organized. It's not a massive room but was enough for a short fun filled vacation. The complementary breakfast was ok but lacking. It was basically pastries and bread with fairly unripened apples, yoghurt and cereal available. Their tea selection included tea bags, coffee and swiss miss. They also had minutemaid orange and apple juice. We were both very hungry long before lunch time.
When we woke up and really looked around we could see that the carpeting was discoloured in places. The front of the air conditioning unit was falling off and then we checked out the bathroom. There was mould in the crevices of around the fixtures and the showerhead was unsightly with all the build up around it. I had intended to call and request another room but my companion didn't want to fuss since we didn't plan on staying in room all day everyday. On top of that we realized that not all the sockets in the room were working and the freezer part of the mini fridge didn't work well either so the ice cream we bought for late night snacking had the consistency of yoghurt after just one night.
Initially maid service was promptly at 11am with the usual tiny soap, tissue, towels and making the bed. After a few days we noticed that they kept coming later and later until one day we got back after 4pm and still hadn't had our room serviced. Then the towels we got had stains on them or had holes (fortunately we were close by for the times that occurred so we got new towels immediately).Within a week it was clear that during clean up, the bed sheets were not changed we had to ask for them to be changed. The maid staff was polite though, but it was very hard communicating as none of them seem to speak or understand English. There was only one maid who we were sure of did a decent job of cleaning the room and tried really hard to understand what we needed. We had an episode where it took 3 calls to front desk and an hour for them to bring is an extra towel as the ones we had on the room were too small. On top of that the gut at front desk had the nerve to call back saying that we already got towels when maid service came by earlier that day. As if that's an excuse when a guest requests something as simple as an extra towel!
Overall we were not satisfied with this hotel and wont go back. It's only redeeming quality was being so wonderfully, centrally located. I can't think of there location being anymore perfect; Ihop to the right, Denny's to the left and Red Lobster in front. The outlet mall and other shopping areas were in walking distance, so was Universal. This hotel could be great if they didn't treat guests as if they...
Read moreBudget hotel. Value for money, convenience but not so for comfort.
Stayed over the Memorial Day weekend. Paid $50/night for a 2 queen bedded room which allows up to four guests. There's just two of us but imagine if there's four of you, that works out to about $13 /pax/night!
In addition, they have free wifi, free breakfast and shuttle service to Disney, Seaworld and Universal Studio.
Free wifi - weak, works better nearer to the lobby.
Free breakfast 630am - 930am - basic items: bread, muffins, cinnamon rolls, pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruits, fruit juice and coffee. Decent offering to fill you up to get you started on your day. It's a very tiny room and can get really crowded, best to go earlier.
Shuttle service - very limited shuttle. 2 timings for Super8 to Disney (Epcot) which you will need to transfer to monorail/ferry/bus to get to the other Disney theme parks. 1 timing for Super8 to Universal/Seaworld and a couple pick up from Universal/Seaworld to Super8. Check with counter for timings. The shuttle is shared by a couple of hotels so it spins around to pick up other guests before heading for the final destination, which means you should buffer more time to get to the respective parks.
Universal studios city walk is approx 5-8mins away. Figured taking uber/lyft was faster vs the shuttle. Average cost $4-5 one way.
Disney Downtown is approx 20 mins away. Cost us $14 one way via lyft/uber.
Room - we got a unit on the first floor. Room looks welcoming when we entered, perhaps due to the colorful bright linens. Floor was sticky, thankfully I brought my slippers so I only walk around the room with my slippers on. The safe in our room was locked, tried asking to have it fixed which the reception was going to call a technician to assist. Decided we felt safer storing our valuables in the theme park lockers so we told them to leave the room safe as it is.
Shower works well for both hot and cold water.
When we returned at night, we saw a couple cockroaches scurrying away and hid in/along the door hinges.
Tried my best to ignore them. For two nights, we saw cockroaches pacing along our beds! Cockroaches were also seen in the day crawling along the walls!!!! Didn't sleep well and felt itchy all over.
Walls were also rather thin, you can hear housekeeping rolling their tools from one end to the other, people talking, cars, etc. Not that bad at night but it can get really loud in the mornings.
Overall, I think the price, food and most importantly convenience is awesome. The room, safety and cleanliness sucks though.
Though it's value for money and convenient. We will probably not stay here the next time we visit Orlando, due to cleanliness,...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE. This was probably the nastiest hotel I've ever been too.. me and my family came for 2 days to go to universal studios. We had rented 2 rooms. When we got to the first room the first thing we noticed was that the doors do not close properly leaving a at least one inch gap. The tv was not working properly . The shower was dirty and had hair everywhere and soap stains. The toilet was so old it had turned black in places . The towels were stained with makeup . On our beds we found a total of 7 bugs that were still alive. The sheets were so used up you could see through them at places . Also more hair in the beds. The pillows were also so old they were ripped up from the inside.
The other room we had rented had the same problems with bugs and hair and dirty bathroom. It was just as bad. Also the mattresses had no protective sheets. And a very blurry tv. The towels ripped the second they got used.
The first room was so bad we asked to change rooms. So the second room they gave us was horrible. Stains in the carpet and walls. The door still didn't close well making us feel unsafe considering anybody could walk to the side of the hotel and just open the doors if they wanted . Their was used soap in the shower with hair everywhere and toilet paper that was almost empty. We had a total of 2 towels for 4 people. The sheets were again so old and used up. Their was a hair elastic that was on the floor full of hair and food crums. The counters were still full of dust . The ac in all our rooms were so loud you couldn't even hear each other talk . And because their was a gap in the doors all the cold air wouldn't stay in the room their for making not even half the room cool. And let's not forget the horrible mood smell their was . The cafeteria was so small it can't fit more than 10 people and even then that's very tight a total of 4 tables all stuck closely to each other fitting max 3 people per table . Expect to have to eat outside in the sun with no umbrellas , or bringing your food up to your room. The food was horrible and was always empty. The lady would only bring out 5 muffins about every 10-20 minutes . Must of usdidnt even get to eat anything . By 9am the lady had already cleaned most the stuff leaving barley any food even though breakfast ended at 9:30.
Also before leaving we saw a cleaning lady go into a room and it literally took her a total of 5-10.to clean the room. She did not pass a vacume and we didn't see her go near the bathrooms .
All that to say I do not recommend going here at all!! This place is a major health hassard!! You are better off spending the couple extra $$ and going across the street to the Sheraton or the...
