I booked this club-level room direct with a preconceived notion of the quality of Renaissance Hotels and the prestige that should come with a 4-star rating. This fell heavily short.
Lobby: This is the only area that shines. It’s very clean, modern, smells pleasant, worthy of its 4-star rating. But it appears that’s the only place they put their money into.
Restaurant: No exciting specialty drinks, only 4 taps, hardly any local beers, and a lackluster menu. A standard mixed drink was $13...nothing fancy, just a quick couple pours. A little strap for something basic, but it is a hotel. While the room certainly looks appealing, the food is not. I ordered a sampler platter of calamari, ribs, and wings. The calamari was the most bland and rubbery substance I’ve ever ingested. The wings had no flavor other than being doused in a hot sauce. The ribs were well cooked but again, a gallon of sauce on them.
Pool/Gym: the gym area meets standard expectations. Nothing to complain or boast about here. The pool and sauna tub have a fairly private feeling despite being surrounded by a parking lot. A nice place to relax overall. Not a resort, but a great ancillary and necessary addition.
The room: Maybe the biggest disappointment of them all. The furnishings are dated in style and don’t hold up to other 4 star offerings. The bed is easily on par with a Red Roof Inn...you can feel the springs and instantly touch the bottom when sitting on it. I’m truly amazed at how a 4-star hotel can get away with such a poor quality mattress. Carpet had a few stains as did the chaise. Linens were clean and from a glance at the housekeeping carts the duvet covers are cleaned regularly as well; a huge plus. The bathroom is large, but disappointing. Standard finishes. Very basic tile, dirty grout, dirty shower head, nothing stated luxury by any stretch of the imagination (unless you count Aveda toiletries...). Generic brand coffee and teas in room as well as a molded iron add to the dismay, not to mention a large gap under the door which transfers a lot of hallway sound.
Final thoughts: This may sound like a lot of complaining but I hold a 4-star hotel to higher standards. This hotel is not worthy of a Renaissance Marquee. I have stayed at cleaner Motel 6’s, more updates Courtyard’s, and Sheratons with far better restaurants. While the proximity to the airport is favorable, do yourself a favor and seek other accommodations. Even at the same price, you’ll probably have a better experience at a neighboring...
Read moreTonya was absolutely rude and disrespectful. We called the hotel earlier that day to let the front desk know that our plane was delayed. We lost an hour due to daylight savings time and time zone change. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by Tonya. We gave her our last name and she clicked around on the keyboard for a few moments. She said that she was unable to check us in because our reservation was cancelled. I checked through my email and did not see a cancellation email. She told us that the reservation was cancelled around 9 PM because the credit card in file was not accurate. I told her that I had the credit card that we wanted to use and she said that there was noting we should do. She proceeded to disrespectfully educate us on how to book a proper reservation especially if it were on the weekend. We listened to her speech and asked her if there we any rooms available. She said with a smile no, she had nothing available for us. I asked her why we were not at least called because we called to let them know we were going to be in late. She responded that it is not the hotels responsibility to call about cancelling reservations and that if we wanted to secure the reservation, we should book with a credit card that has money on it. My husband asked if she knew of any hotels in the area that had availability and she responded that everything was booked up and there was nothing she could do because it was spring break. I looked at my husband and told him to come on we can try to figure something out and Tonya said well wait let me see if there is something I might be able to do. She told us to have a seat while 2 gentleman went to see if any 5 of the open rooms she had “all of a sudden” had available were cleaned. A short while went by and she called me back to counter. She said that there was a room available but she needed a valid credit card. As I reached into my purse for my ID and card, she gave me the same speech about booking reservations on the weekend with cards that don’t have an available balance. I told her thank you because I was extremely irritated and did not want to not be able to check in. She then asked if we would like a breakfast voucher. I replied yes. She gave us the keys and said “ I am so happy I was able to help you guys.” I am utterly disgusted by the way we treated and talked to. The first thing Tonya should have done was to check to see if the room was available before attempting to educate and be...
Read moreUnfortunately, I’m lost for words these rooms look like something out of Motel six. Before you can get to the front lobby, you get a strange smell once you get to the front lobby the smell goes away. Once you get on the elevators and get to your floor, you start to realize this hotel is extremely outdated. I have taken a screenshot and posted another person‘s review, because I have the evidence to back their words up. Upon arrival when we got in our room, it had this awful stench. I assume that it came from the place being so outdated in furniture hold smells overtime. It wasn’t until I took a shower and realized there is black mold behind each dispenser for their shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, upon further investigation, I found more growing in other places as well. Walls are filthy, dirty. You can see the floors need to be deck scrub. They’re probably just slashing a mop across it and calling it a day refrigerator is not properly wiped out you can see crumbs. This indicates how thorough they’re cleaning is doesn’t make me feel too safety even get in the bed sheets probably might be dirty as well Sofas are definitely stained for this hotel to be so close to the airport and with us at 2:54 in the morning calling other hotels and everybody saying they are booked and sold out tells me this hotel gets way too much business and way too much money not to have this place properly renovated and properly cleaned after each hotel visit The front desk did try to accommodate us and switches to a second room, and I will attach the pictures for that room as well. When we arrived into this room made everything worse was used body lotion. The attention to detail at this hotel is terrible. I hope corporate sees thisand wakes up and comes into this hotel and do a thorough inspection on every room and realize a change is necessary
So real quick update after going downstairs and having the front desk, give us a third room which they was very friendly about doing. I noticed the water fountain in the front maybe the calls of the mail they need to turn this off and do a deep cleaning, and then turn it back on. It cannot be healthy to breathe all this mode, and just look at...
