This was a really disappointing Courtyard experience, to be sure. Stayed one night here before leaving for a cruise. Background: Marriott Gold, traveling with my family of four, have stayed in a number of Courtyards around the country.
First of all - the shuttle service at the Orlando airport is abysmal. There is no signposting at terminal B, and no way to know where to go. It would have been nice if the Courtyard had included this information on their website or in their welcome email - e.g. “When arriving at MCO, proceed to ground transportation and pick up the shuttle at space B-4.” The shuttle itself took over 45 minutes to arrive, which seemed like a rather long time. Recommendation: Ubers/Lyfts pick up right outside of baggage claim and cost ~ $8 to get to the hotel.
Upon arrival, the staff was welcoming and gracious (yay!) and upgraded us to a King Suite - wonderful! However, the room was less than welcoming. There were no linens for the pullout sofa, and no pillows at all for the pullout or the rollaway - and when we requested linens, there were still no pillows. Only two large towels were provided for our family of four. Both the pullout sofa and rollaway were very uncomfortable.
The room was modern, with enough bedside outlets to charge devices. Microwave, fridge, and bar area were nice.
The pool was delightful, but no pool towels were available (see the issue above - if you aren’t going to provide towels at the pool, there need to be more towels available in the room.)
Overall, a decidedly unimpressive experience, and NOT what we’ve come to expect from Courtyards or Marriott in general. Would definitely NOT recommend for anyone looking for an Orlando...
Read moreThis would have gotten a 4 star review if it wasn’t for the way things went down at the end of my stay. The staff was all very friendly, nice, and accommodating let me say that. As for there manager Antonio and there general manager they are extremely rude and might need a lesson in customer service. Upon checking out they advised that they wouldn’t be returning our !$200! deposit because according to them we smoked in the room (we did not). Antonio kindly advised there was a “marijuana” smell. We simply let him know we did not smoke in the room or hotel property. We got in our car and went across the way where it was ok to smoke. Fast forward to today after many phone calls to the hotel, speaking with the GM, and corporate as well I am still not getting my deposit back because Antonio their wonderful manager claims that my guest said we smoked in the bathroom which is a straight out lie. We never said any such thing. After explaining the situation that we did have stuff on us blah blah and that we didn’t smoke in the room they still decided not to return my deposit. I have been told their evidence is the fact that my guess said we smoked in the bathroom. A straight out lie. I explained to the manager that this is turning into a he said/she said situation. I kept explaining again and again that we did not smoke in the room. I have stayed in Marriott hotels all around the US and this is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. The managers were not helpful and willing to come to some sort of middle ground instead they were rude and nasty. Oh and let’s note that when I kept making my stance about certain matters I just got radio silence. Great customer service...
Read moreIts nicely refurbished with a nice, older “new style” interior but, I typically stay with Hampton or marriott directly but all in all even for a cheaper hotel, this experience was unfortunately negative The tv wouldn’t connect to my cell phone when that kind of service is literally advertised. There’s no free breakfast, just a bistro downstairs where they yet get more money out of you. I went to dinner and went back to realize the fridge was broken and leaking, had a maintenance guy come up twice, kept telling us to give him more time and then the last time he came he asked us to give him 20 minutes. An hour went by and i went down to the front desk, had to wait 10 minutes for the girl to come out of the back just to tell me to give him yet another “20 minutes” another hour went by, its coming up on 12:00 am now. He never came. We went to sleep, were forced to throw out left overs from a 300$ dinner. At checkout i told this story and was basically told sorry, nothing we can do. I asked to speak with a manager and all pf a sudden there was more of a language barrier between me and the front desk lady. I have spent well over 30,000 the last year staying at marriott alone and this was incredibly disappointing, with no resolution or compensation whatsoever. Just “sorry” i travel around the world for work and just off of this one experience. I will NEVER stay at the marriott ever again. Every other branch i do business with has been overly accommodating. I get it, its a cheaper hotel.. but spending even 300 a night at any other branch they would have...
