Overall, I had somewhere safe to sleep during my scheduled training. Staff wasn't mean, but not helpful either. Would not go there again. My room was clean when I was finally able to check in, though it was after check in time they asked me to wait for an hour for my room, which ended up being about 30 minutes.
When I got to my room, I thought I heard a noise, but I had called ahead to make plans to leave since I was just waiting in the lobby so I didn't really identify it as an issue until I got back. So, everytime the elevator went up and down you could hear it. I went to the front desk and they didn't have any other rooms, so I asked them to please look into it the following day. It was set up through my job, so I couldn't just leave without paying out of pocket and more red tape. The lady was very unmoved and said that I can ask the staff on duty in the morning when rooms become available.
The following day, after work I told them the room was noisy and it was hard to go to sleep and stay asleep. She told me that she never had any complaints about 220 before. I said the least you can do from this point forward is let people know that it has that issue. She claimed there was nothing suitable to put me in comparison to the room I had and would talk to someone the next day. That didn't happen. This day going to my room, I noticed not only is the elevator at the headboard side of the room, there is also a mechanical room next to it, which shared a wall with the bathroom that opens up to the bed area. With the tight schedule I had, I just gave up on it, and chalked it up as a lesson learned.
On the morning of day four, getting ready for work, I noticed something white on my phone and the clock. I was trying to remember if I threw lotion or something over there. I went on about my day and just wiped it off. When I got off, the clock was blinking as if the power had went out. I was going over an assignment and kept hearing a noise (separate from the others)but didn't feel like pinpointing it, just wanted to finish. I looked at the clock again and there was no time. My phone that was charging next to it, the Debbie cake I was snaking on, and the clock were covered with white stuff and water. I looked up and the ceiling was leaking. A lady came with a man that had a shop vac. She said she new that there was a water issue above me, but didn't realize that it got threw. But this was overnight!!! Why wouldn't you at least check!? They cleaned up and offered to change my sheets, but still no other room.
I said don't worry, I'll just switch sides. I'm checking out tomorrow so just discount the room or something. She said she would get back with me, she didn't.
Before checking out, I went down to have breakfast and they were out of milk, when I approached this same lady she thought I was coming to her about the leak and discount, so she said management said they made an adjustment to your rate. I said thanks but do you have some milk? She spoke with one of the other staff members and they came back with milk, but a lot of breakfast items were out at about 9:15 and I think breakfast was until 10. They called my room to see if I was checking out a little after 11. I thought it was because of the rate change, but no - they just wanted me to get out. When I looked at the receipt no changes had been made.
Then, when I was ready to shuttle back to the airport. They said the driver only comes every hour, and wouldn't be back until 12:30. I think that should be put in display somewhere. So I ended up catching an UBER to the airport. So, don't get 220 if you like peace and quiet, also don't be under the impression that just because the airport is ten minutes away that shuttle transportation is readily available and nor is it...
Read moreThe location of this hotel is great. You can walk to restaurants and it's a calm and peaceful area. Now for the worst part . After arriving at the airport, I called the hotel requesting to be picked up by the complimentary hotel shuttle. I asked for the pickup location and was given B4. We rushed to the location because the desk lady Eliza said that she was calling the driver. Just to let everyone know, Orlando is hot, so we are sitting outside because inside the terminal, you can not see the pickup area. After 1 hour of sitting in the heat I called back to the hotel again to speak with the same person again who I asked was the shuttle coming because I called nearly 1 hour ago and the same lady gets rude saying it's only been 40 minutes since you called before. Again, after keeping tabs on when I called, I asked if the shuttle is coming. Again, I get I'm calling him with a very long hold of the phone, so I'm thinking the driver is close and she is telling him where we are When she finally comes back on the phone, I told her B4 is the location, and I again asked what color van and what does it say. She again says Wingate or Wyndham or something like that. There are vans arriving, so im asking all drivers, "Are you from Wingate and all i get is no. This one van pulls up with Ramada on the van, so I asked the guy, "Are you picking up Wingate he looks at me and says, " No Wingate." Then, as he gets back in his van, he says Wingate and drives off. Again we waited for 1 more hour in the heat and this time my wife calls to get same person and tells her we have been waiting for nearly three hours, when is the shuttle coming or is it coming. She asks my wife where your location is, and again, we are at B4 and have been standing here for three hours. She again is checking time, but it has not been exactly three hours since your last call. She says the driver has picked up 20 people from there since you called and you must have moved when the driver came and my wife said no we have been standing here since we called you the first time. My wife asks what does the van says, and she tells her Wingate by Wyndham or Ramada or just Wingate or something. So this other family of 5 people and different race arrives and I hear them say we need a shuttle to Wyndham and in 10 minutes the shuttle arrives but has Ramada on the van with the same driver who told me no early walks up and announces Wingate. I asked him why did you tell me no earlier and he would not answer me. I just gave a grin. This is unacceptable and if they didn't want to pick us up then you don't want me to stay at your hotel. We are all people and deserve to be treated equally. If it had not been for the rude desk person and the driver acting like it's a joke we would give a...
Read moreUpon arrival, first impressions were good. Staff were friendly and helpful, lobby was large, clean and bright, and the exterior was also clean. Unfortunately, that changed once we got to our room and things went down hill from there.
The queen sized bed we booked ended up being smaller than a traditional queen, the noise pollution from the hallway and other rooms was extremely bad (you could hear everything and anything in the hallway), and the bathroom shower needed updating badly.
The nail in the coffin for this hotel was the shuttle in the morning. Not the shuttle itself or the driver, but the service itself by the hotel. Apparently when checking in when we arrived at the hotel and pre-booking the shuttle to the airport at the same time for the next morning, the desk staff wrote down 1 person for the shuttle when there was actually 2 of us. The person writing it down VERBALLY confirmed “2” as they wrote it down and I verbally confirmed back “correct 2”. Well, when we showed up in the lobby at 4:25am for our booked shuttle, the emotionless desk staff (different person than before) told us only “1” was written down and it was a packed shuttle. Because of this we had to get the next shuttle(45 minutes later), which made it really tight for us at the airport. We specifically booked the earliest shuttle so we could be early at the airport in case any delays occurred. The lady at the front desk was emotionless, rude and completely unhelpful. Zero percent of her cared that her other staff member made a mistake and she took zero action to help us. In fact, she never even apologized. One of the worst interactions and experiences of service in the 36 years I’ve been on this planet. She didn’t offer to get us a Taxi ASAP or anything.
Ironically, while we were waiting for the next shuttle to the airport, other people came down to check in for their shuttle and wait for the shuttle and their numbers were incorrectly written down too and undercounted. Luckily there was room for them.
Mainly due to the shuttle mixup and the rude desk staff in the morning, I would highly recommend avoiding this hotel if your main stay at it is due to its location near the airport. Hotels in this area thrive due to airport adjacent flyers, and if they can’t provide consistent and trustworthy airport shuttle service, then what’s the point of staying at this hotel? Choose another to ensure you don’t miss your flight.
The next time I fly into Orlando (which is about twice a year), I will be choosing a different...
