I would give zero stars if I could. Last weekend my extended family and I were in town for a family reunion, we booked about 8 rooms. We chose La Quintana because of their good reviews and being pet friendly. I do have to agree that the hotel was clean and pet friendly, and the majority of the staff was helpful and friendly, that being said management is not friendly, helpful or reasonable. The first night of our stay, a bathroom sink in my 78 year old Dad's room accidentally got broken. A bottle fell in it. My Dad immediately informed the staff and he was moved to another room, he was then informed he would be responsible for monetary damages to the sink. My brother who works in the HVAC and plumbing trades, said he has never seen a sink break like that from a bottle falling in it. The rest of our family agreed. Our conclusion is it must have been poor quality materials or a manufacturer defect. We felt the hotel should assume responsibility, after all isn't that what their insurance for? My Dad being the responsible man he is, felt he should assume some of the cost and went to talk to management, with the offer to pay a percentage. The property owner rejected his offer and threatened to call the police on a 78 year old man with a heart condition! My brother tried to talk to them on my father's behalf to no avail. So he then contacted La Quinta corporate and was able to talk to Barry Sullivan the regional director, who agreed these charges were punitive and unfair. Barry tried to contact the franchise on our behalf, again to no avail, the owner/manager would not budge. I feel that is very unfortunate and not a good or fair way to conduct a business. This occurred because of a bottle accidentally being dropped, we are a family; my Dad an elderly gentleman, the majority of us middle age adults there with our children to celebrate at a family reunion, and none of us were young party people out to damage a room. We come to town yearly and we rent many rooms, I will not be staying here again, I will be taking my business elsewhere next year! I would advise others to avoid this hotel as well, you never know when an accident might occur and this could happen to you too. In my opinion it is not right to take advantage of or punish the elderly unfairly. This could have been handled much better and ethically. For this reason I am giving this hotel a zero rating and a...
Read moreI did not get any staff names, but the morning desk person was very friendly and courteous. He happily helped accommodate needs we had. The evening person was not rude but just seemed uncaring. We stayed 2 nights and the second night both of our keys were deactivated. When I went down to resolve the situation, he quickly reset cards for us, but there was no apology for the inconvenience this caused us.
The room was mostly clean and did offer a microwave and desk set up. There was a very small refrigerator, but it did not have a freezer section. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom offered great space and all of the hair care and soap in pumps which works fine for us.
The breakfast area was clean, and they kept the supply fairly well stocked. There was biscuits and gravy, link sausage plus waffles for the hot foods. They also offered yogurt, dry cereal, instant oatmeal, donuts and bread. The seating area was clean but many of the tables seemed either too short or too tall for the chairs offered. There was plenty of space for those who chose to have breakfast.
The elevator is spacious and operates quickly which was a big plus.
The negatives were the hallway floor on the 3rd floor looked like it could use a good cleaning. Our room was dirty in the corners, but not awful. The desk chair in our room would not roll forward. And the knob on the shower was loose so it was difficult to adjust the water temperature. (We did mention both of these to the desk at check out so hopefully they will be repaired.)
We used the pool and hot tub. The overall area seemed clean and was a nice space. The pool had a small ring at the water line but was not bad. However, the spa could use a good cleaning and some maintenance around it. The gym area was a nice space and seemed very clean.
We typically stay at low end hotels. We stayed here due to a promotion. Overall, I did not see any added value to this hotel compared to the ones we typically can afford therefore I rated it...
Read moreIt's hard to write this hotel because it's really between a 4 and a 3 The first of all of the gentleman who helped us at the desk was very nice it's always a pleasure to be able to deal with front desk people who are helpful and friendly after a long day so that definitely was a 4 to 5 star
The other big huge bonus is it's pet friendly and I mean pet pet friendly no extra charge for your pets who would have thought that's a five-star
The rooms were very well kept and clean Well compared to the last hotels we stay too and not as updated and not for me as comfortable but the bonus was it was clean their housekeeping staff looks like they do a very good job
The bed was exceptionally comfortable the shower worked well so those are all good things
Some negative was the extra amenities you know tiny tiny microwave which is so outdated. Refrigerator tiny when I compare it to the last hotel we had a studio and boy that was nice
When I talk about things being updated yeah the carpets old probably needs to be replaced and you know what it's just not well it's still a little outdated so if you see hallways that need to be vacuumed or the stairwell was dirty it's just an older hotel but still kept fairly decent
The other real negative is wow thin thin walls My sister was on the third floor and apparently the people upstairs or so loud she says it sounds like construction she couldn't believe how loud they were banging banging banging banging and I had to laugh because I heard the neighbors next door too I heard every step every cough every dog bark
now if you're a light sleeper this probably isn't the hotel for you or you better get your plugs
The one good thing is it seems like everybody went to bed at a decent time So praise the Lord for that
All in all I would definitely say it's a stay it's safe it's clean and even though I think they're on the high end of charging which doesn't match the anemones I will say not paying for...
