Date: 1.19.24 Time: 1800 Came in with my family to eat in the store. There were two women behind the service counter. The lady behind the register did not acknowledge me, make eye contact or say anything whatsoever. I stood there for a couple of seconds looking at the server. Still nothing. I then turned to my family and said "Guess we aren't eating here tonight." I turned to the ladies and said "Customer Service is No.1. Not for you two. But that is a fact." At that point in time both of the ladies behind the service counter seemingly had a change of heart; they both made eye contact, started to engage me socially, very much cheered up and replied "OK, thank you!" after each of my comments. I then went to a Reno staple of JJs Pie Company and was given some of the best service that I can remember... I know EXACTLY what is going on here, but I am choosing to stick with the facts. Ownership/Management: If you want to choose to hire rookies or have an agenda based server experience for your customers then make your case clear to the customer walking in to your establishment so when they receive the appropriately terrible experience they at least are forewarned. I will NEVER accept this kind of behavior from such simple minded people and will only fight to remind future customers of what they could be experiencing. I sincerely hope this kind of behavior is corrected, as it is absolutely...
Read moreI used to love bab before tonight. I had eaten my bowl of food and got down to the bottom of my cup of miso soup and there was a hair. I got up and bought it up to the cashiers and the girl with black hair said oh... I asked if there was a manager on staff that I could talk to. Keep in mind this was 7pm on a Saturday night 10/6/18. She spoke to me like I was crazy for wanting to speak to a manager and then she said I can give you a free bab. I think there’s a miscommunication in today’s society when someone asks to speak to a manager it is assumed they want free stuff. The reality for many of us likely you included if your reading reviews on a place is that you want the issue fixed. The same is true of this review because in reality I’m hoping that bab will fix the issue rather than brush it off. This was on my list of places I used to recommend to friends looking for a cute date night or a good place to eat before going to the movies. It embarrasses me that it is possible that friends I have sent there could have experienced this after I sent them there. The kitchen staff needs to be required to wear hair nets rather than just a ball cap. It is clear that the ball cap...
Read moreMy first visit to Bab Café was a pleasant and flavorful experience. I ordered the Top-Bab with Bulgogi Beef (as pictured), which comes with a side of delicious miso soup.
Food: The dish itself was a satisfying combination of well-cooked rice, perfectly steamed veggies, and flavorful bulgogi beef. The beef was nicely marinated, though I found it to be slightly on the tougher side. A bit more tenderness would have made the dish perfect. That said, the portion size was decent, especially since I ordered the large size, which felt just right. The miso soup was flavorful and paired well with the meal. For those who enjoy customizing their flavors, there’s a self-serve station with an assortment of sauces—perfect for adding an extra kick to your meal!
Service & Atmosphere: Service was friendly and efficient. Credit cards are accepted, and the seating options were plentiful. You can choose to dine inside or enjoy the fresh air at one of the few outdoor tables.
Overall, it was a pleasant first experience, and I would definitely return to explore more items on the menu next time I'm in town. Bab Café is a great spot for a quick, tasty bite with plenty of options to satisfy...
