Caution!!! The hotel knows a certain side of the hotel has issues with hot water. I think it is poor customer service for the hotel to put customers in rooms that have known issues. Yet they act like they know nothing about the issue. That's super poor customer service. When booking a room ask for the side of the hotel without hot water issue. So our room was #400. There is an exit door to the stairs right by our room that is great because I love taking the stairs, but here's the thing it goes outside and then back in anyone could climb up there and enter the hotel and the doors aren't locked to the stairs. Also, in the lobby, there is a Starbucks. The doors by Starbucks dont get locked either at night. Anyone can walk in and use the elevator and go to any floor without a keycard. Unsafe if you ask me. So, as for our room, it faced a nightclub. As you can imagine, the noise level was really unbearable it finally got quite about 2am when everyone started going home . The line to get into the club was long, and so the people waiting were getting louder and louder. So very noise hotel inside and outside hallway noise was really bad too. not much soundproofing. The room looked clean other than the stringy black hair on my towel when I dried off. đ I don't have black hair, so it wasn't mine. Also, on my profile, I requested the room to have no feather because dust mites love to harbor in feather pillows. Guess what all feather pillows in the room đso putting that aside. My husband and I started sneezing and coughing when we entered the room, and we got better when we left the room. Hmm, I didn't know what to think about that because it looked clean. Warning about the hot water as well if you like a hot shower in the morning get up early like 6am or you will have a ice cold shower between 7:30am and 9am cold water. The hotel can't keep up with the hot water demand during that time frame. There is plenty of hot water in the evening. The front desk could care less if you had an ice shower. That night, the sneezing and coughing continued next morning. My husband's entire body is covered in hives and welts, not super noticeable, but he was uncomfortable. That evening, it got worse now. I was thinking it's something in the room, maybe the pillows or the detergent they use to wash the sheets. I go to the lobby to buy some water and ask about where I can get Benadryl they directed me to a Walgreens that was closed. All the waters were gone from the lobby cooler, and the vending machine wouldn't take my money. The front desk said they would send 3 water bottles up to my room. I waited in my room for at least an hour, and no one showed up. So my husband and I leave to go find water and Benadryl at a grocery store about a mile away. The next day, he's even worse because he had continued to be exposed to the room, and something in our room was causing these hives and welts. His nose and cheeks were so swollen. By now, it's time to leave and get to the airport. It took about 4 days after getting home for his skin to clear back up. He was miserable. I think it's the cleaning detergent that was so toxic. I'll post the pictures I took to show that it's clean, but the chemicals might be a little strong. I also took a picture of the line...
Read moreThe only other 4 star hotel I've stayed at was a Marriott in Park City. It was amazing, 5/5. So I decided to choose the City Creek Marriott over the Little America for a three day 2nd honeymoon with my wife. It was a disaster. We literally went home early because we have more amenities are our home!
Their rooms lack microwaves, like even 1 star motels I've been to have microwaves. It caused us to need to go to a common area to warm up leftover Indian food we had and then bring it back to our room with people staring at us.
We decided that we wanted to relax a little and watch our favorite show on Amazon Prime, they had "Internet TV" that allows you to access streaming apps, but the only app they allow you to access is Netflix. So I grabbed my laptop and figured we could just watch in on there instead, NOPE want to access the internet that will be $18 a day. Even McDonald's has free Wi-Fi, but not the City Creek Marriot. Even though "free Wi-Fi" is listed on their website.
Frustrated we could not even watch our show to relax except on our phones, my wife turned to me and winked at me signaling we did not go on a 2nd honeymoon to watch TV, and right then the people in the next room started talking. The walls were so thin we literally heard them enunciating their words. My wife shook her head and said "nope!" They talked till nearly 11 PM too!
At this point my wife and I decided we would go relax by swimming in the pool, using their sauna, or the hot tub. Having read previous reviews about the hot tub, sauna and pool on the 2nd floor we went and looked, I could not find it. The Hotel Guide on the TV listed " Gym and pool" information, but when you clicked on it, it had only gym information. So I asked the staff and they told me it was removed during recent renovations.
We checked out their "State-of-the-art" Gym, their advertised "bikes" were the cheap peddle machines with no option to use either Delta or SPD cleats like an actual "State-of-the-art" exercise bike has.
After realizing we did not have enough privacy, nor the ability to watch our shows, or even to relax in a pool/hot tub we simply went to bed that night and checked out early the next day and went home.

Read moreWe stay in SLC every year near Christmas to see the lights at Temple Square and enjoy a mini vacation. This is the second time staying here for those purposes. Last year was pretty bad having trouble with the rooms heat not working and other issues, but I thought we'd give it another try this year. I like Marriott and have always considered it to be a leader in hotels. This visit ruined it for me. I'll probably look at the Little America next time. Our reservations were screwed up and in order to get the rooms we reserved, we'd be on two different floors...not great when you have a family you need to keep together. The check in problems were rough and though the staff tried hard, the best they could do was put us by the elevators near the pool(very noisy) and in two double queen rooms which were not what we reserved, but at least they were close to each other. We decided to have dinner at the Elevations restaurant and, though we were the only ones there, waited for 15 minutes before anyone even claimed to be our server. Once that was cleared up, the food was good and the service was better. The rooms were clean but very dated. The bathrooms are tiny and the ceiling in one room had water damage stains and just looked run down. I ordered room service one night and it was great. Fast service and great food. No complaints there at all. We soon discovered that the rooms were very warm, hot even. When we turned down the thermostat even to the low 60's, it still blew warm air. Engineering tried to fix it, but it was still so warm that we had to open a window to sleep comfortably and then we got the street noise because we were on the 2nd floor. The parking garage wasn't great. There was a drainage grate where I had to park that had a broken cover that was very sharp and could probably damage a tire. Parking was tight and someone broke out one of my taillights. The lobby was beautiful and the location of the hotel is great. That's one reason we stayed there. With all the other issues we had, I don't think I'll be back. I was pretty excited to get out of there and go home. Sorry Marriott, but I expected a lot...
