My husband is part of the booming new business owners who are paying attention to office space at the Gateway. It was so exciting the first time we toured the area to find a grocer with fantastic lunch options and a hot/cold bar. This was the fall, jump ahead to winter and the many times we have gone into the store we both say the same thing almost instantaniously- "It's so COLD!" This isn't like once or twice it's every single time we have gone into the store since Thanksgiving and the temps started to drop. We came once to have some of the gourmet cookies and eat lunch in the little eat-in area with our daughters and had to leave since it was so cold. Today (2/3/20) We were in the store and the poor girl at the front register had her puffer coat zipped up around her legs. She had on a happy face and smiled at us and said nothing as I noticed her coat and got a funny look realizing she was so cold. I made a comment about the fact that the store has a vestibule (this is the double door system that most retailers build to keep a rush of cold or hot air from rushing into the main part of the building, you enter thru two sets of doors before entering the main store) I told her that management should increase the price of their soda refills if they are struggling to heat the place. She laughed timidly and checked us out. I looked and looked and searched for a way to contact management to tell them how sadly disappointed I have been in how cold their store is but I could find no CONTACT info anywhere. Looks like the company is family owned and the only mention of the owners is in a Trib article siting Scotty Niederhauser as owner or operator. This is a red flag Mr. Niederhauser - it's an epidemic. While we were there three other patrons all agreed they hate how cold it is, makes shopping rushed and quick. I have to think that might result in them spending less $ however I may be wrong and the dollars spent on keeping the place a balmy 59 degrees might be the savings keeping you in business. We love your store, so don't go under if the heat is the issue. But I think the thermostat could be...
Read moreTaste of the food on the Hot bar has really improved a lot since they opened. Got it tonight and the ribs were finally cooked long enough to be fall off the bone tender. When they first opened they just weren't cooking them low and slow for long enough. Now they are tender and very flavorful. Same with the brisket. Even the sides seem much better as well. Before they were pretty bland but now they seem to have gotten the seasoning just right. So if you tried the hot bar before and were disappointed in the taste like me, give them another try now and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how much better it has gotten. Thanks for keeping the fat free milk at only $1.65 a gallon too. Best price in town! Think you'd do a much bigger lunch business if you improved the layout of the store to make the available seating more comfortable like a restaurant. Run two rows of booths along the windows where produce is now. Remove the clings on those windows to allow diners to look out and passers by to see people enjoying lunch in there. Current seating is awkward and uncomfortable because it's crammed in next to the shopping carts with no dividing low wall and all the customers have to navigate their carts around you as you try to eat. So when customers walk in the front door on the right they pass a isle on the right of booths for seating. With the right sides booths along the windows and the left side of booths against a new half wall. Then carts on the back side of that half wall. Then Produce...
Read moreI am coming here for EVERYTHING! First, I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, so I usually go to Costco due to their low cost and great quality. However, when I came here I was amazed to see that they had a great produce selection, BETTER quality than Costco, and I didn't analyze everything, but per unit, they were actually cheaper than Costco! THEN, there was a particular item I was looking for so I asked a guy if they sold it. He said usually at the salad bar, but he will sell me a container for a specific price. Also cheaper than Costco. I was stoked! I then asked how they were prepared because I am allergic to a particular ingredient. Just to be sure he had a cook whip up a batch that was sure to be free of that ingredient. I thanked him and told him I eat them every day, but finding them prepared that way has been tricky. He said he will make sure they always have it in stock, then introduced me to another worker, and told him my situation, so if he wasn't there I could ask him. LOVE THIS PLACE! Not only are they the kings of customer service, they have a really great selection and really great prices. I was very shocked to see others complain about the prices. Where else are these people...
