I advise not to book this hotel if you can help it. My parents and I were in SL for a conference and the Marriot was already full when I tried to reserve. This hotel had vacancy and was conveniently close to the Salt Palace, here the conference was being held.||But staying at this hotel is the greatest regret of all the traveling I've done in my life, which has been considerable. Room is not bad, if a little dark and outdated. Sofa beds are usually uncomfortable, but this one was the worst I've ever slept on, which is one of the reasons why we checked out one day earlier. I was surprised and grateful when they said they would only charge me for the two nights we stayed... if only I knew.||So we checked out around lunch time and drove about an hour to stay with family. However, we made the grave mistake of forgetting valuables in the room safe, and only remembered later in the evening. I called the hotel as soon as we realized it, and they told me that indeed housekeeping had put in a notice that the safe was locked, but that housekeeping could not access the safe, and maintenance would only open it the following morning. I then asked them not to open it until I arrived next morning, and the receptionist assured me they would leave a note to wait for me to return the next morning to collect my things.||When I arrived at 10:00, the safe had been opened by maintenance and they said it was empty. I saw the note the receptionist who talked to me wrote, and it only said I had forgotten things, but no note not to open it.||We called the police, but they could not do anything. The hotel said they had to protect their employees, the police said they could look at the security cameras (which were nonexistent in the guest room's corridors, to protect the guests privacy) not question the housekeepers who had cleaned the room, and simply had to believe that we left a locked EMPTY safe behind. I realize it was careless of us to forget valuables, and I wish I had driven back to the hotel that very evening. After all, in the end it was our word against theirs, and the police could not do anything. If maintenance hadn't opened it and waited for us to arrive instead, we'd have known if our code was still working, or if someone had opened and closed it back up. But we will never know.||And that's why I would not risk staying at this hotel, if you can help it. And I will never stay in a Best Western, WorldHotel, or SureStay ever again, anywhere...

Originally I wasn't going to leave a review. However after what I heard today I decided travelers need to be aware of the shape of the hotel and the clerk.

I had been in Salt Lake on a business trip. Since I wanted to take advantage of the Family History library after my meetings, I chose this hotel. I had a later flight today so I needed to kill some time. I checked out of my room and sat in the lobby. The hotel clerk was talking to some guy (sounded like he knew him well, so maybe another employee?) Each guest who requested an early check in was told there were no rooms available. Having checked out of my room and being at the end of the hallway I had seen the cleaning staff had finished all the rooms up to mine on my floor, and were ready to start mine when I left.

The reason for this review is the clerk told this other person he wasn't going to let anyone check in before check in time at 3pm. He said 'not my circus, not my monkeys'. He said 'they can wait until 3pm'. I assume that was after his shift since he didn't want to do the work. I heard that three times in the hour I waited in the lobby.

That wasn't the worst part. There were two older ladies sitting between me and this clerk. He proceeded to tell this guy about his 'native' girl he had relations with (his word) and how insane it was. He clarified 'Native American'. No Guest wants to hear about your sex life or you talking about this girl. This girl should run now!

Maybe he should spend his time actually working and taking care of customers.

In addition to sex fiend clerk, the hotel is in need of a remodel. The bathroom shower grout is cracked and moldy all over. When you turn on the shower, the pipes rattle and make a bunch of noise. Other than that the room was in decent shape and clean. The cleaning staff does a good job.

After that clerk, I won't be staying there again. There are other nicer hotels that actually take care of the guests and we don't have to listen to their...

Pretty decent hotel with nice views of downtown on the "city view" side, though I don't think Temple Square itself cannot be seen from any of the room windows on that side due to the orientation of the hotel. You can see a bit of it from a window at the end of the hallway, however. Location cannot be beat, although The Temple and Temple Square are largely closed and under construction at the moment and not worth visiting. Front desk of the hotel was very friendly and efficient. Multi-story parking garage is attached (access via driving under the hotel's front awning) and free to use if you book direct with the hotel at the moment. There appears to be no elevator in the parking garage so park on the ground floor or else you will have to use stairs. Appears the only entry into the hotel is through the main lobby in the front. As with many hotels across the country, the hotel's normal extra amenities are largely closed right now due to covid. The hotel building exterior appears to be old (1960s?) but it is pleasant inside and has a diligent security guard at the door, so feels very safe. Room was clean and comfortable. From the outside of the hotel you may think that the rooms have balconies - however, the balcony doors are bolted shut. Had a good experience staying here and it's right across the street from a Trax train stop. If this information was useful to you, I'd appreciate a quick like. Thank you!

I didn't like the hotel, there is no free parking, no breakfast, I had to slam the door so it could close every time. The shower was clogged up, the pillows were old because they didn't keep the shape, the light fixture in the bathroom was rusted, the valance on the curtain was falling, furniture was old, bedding was stain. They claimed the pool was heated which was not true. Also they don't have housekeeping. If you are used to someone making your bed, getting you clean towels and taking out your trash, this is not the place. You have to put your trash outside of your door and ask for everything else you might need but they didn't tell us that when we checked in. To top it all off they don't have late check out. We paid a lot of money and it was not worth the price in my opinion. I paid nearly $1,800 for 2 rooms for 5 nights and they couldn't accommodate for me to check out 1 hour later in one of the rooms. It was just 1 hour. Some staff were friendly. The only good thing about this hotel is LOCATION !!! There is a few hotels around the same area with more amenities so next time I visit I will look somewhere else to stay. I feel robbed for the price I paid.
