The hotel was beautiful and well designed. The lobby is stunning and the rooms are sleek. Although, design unfortunately doesn’t make a hotel great. During our stay, we experienced a lot of nice things that would have been perfect had they not been dulled by bad service or things not working.
Valet: At check in, valet went smoothly and quickly and was offered immediate assistance. At check out, we texted the number provided to us for the car to be brought around. The text responded saying our car was out front and to be down in three minutes. We went outside and there was no car and no one at the valet stand. We waited about ten minutes and the valet attendant came outside and asked if we were waiting for an Uber. We explained that we were waiting for our car to be pulled around since we got a text saying it was ready. He was very confused and asked our car type and went and pulled it around. He was friendly but it was a very bumpy experience, considering we payed a steep $36 for valet alone.
Check In: The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and nice! He was dressed professionally and greeted us immediately. I wish he would have told us more information about the hotel and where to find things.
The Rooms: The room was pretty and the shower was nice and hot. The bed was a little firm for our liking and the pillows are similar to the ones you would find in a cheaper Fairfield Inn. There weren’t any options in the room for different firmness of pillows. In the bathroom, there were also only two bath towels. We use two towels each after one shower, so it didn’t seem like enough. We were granted a high floor, as requested, which was nice.
Pool: We were excited to use the rooftop pool and texted the hotel ahead of time to ensure it would be open. We were told it was open and well heated. When we arrived at the pool, we got in and found it to be less than warm. We were freezing so we did not last much longer than ten minutes. The view from the pool was stunning! I wish we could have enjoyed it more.
Rooftop Bar: The atmosphere was great. Very lively and upbeat. The drinks were enjoyable but highly overpriced. The service was friendly but extremely slow. We waited around 15 minutes for our first drink, enjoyed it and hung out for about an hour, and then our waitress greeted us again after that hour to see if we would like another. We got one more and after half an hour, she brought our check. $15+ for bottom shelf whiskey is extremely proud. We left feeling like there was more to be desired for the money we spent.
Breakfast: We had breakfast at the restaurant downstairs near the lobby. The service was very awkward and slow. It felt like there were a lot of people working, but they were mostly standing around. Our waitress was friendly but it felt like it was her first day. Our food came out at separate times, and it tasted just okay. It was all hot, but wasn’t anything special for the price. The beignets were closer to biscuit consistency, or maybe they were stale. Not sure. It was a pretty restaurant, and the orange juice was good.
Overall, the hotel is exquisitely beautiful, but they need to focus more on their service and the quality of their goods. I feel that the main service issue is the attitude of most team members. It seemed like they were there to work and go home, instead of enjoying their job and wanting to be there. The quality of goods and service can be easily fixed but will take some effort on behalf of the hotel. Or they just need to lower the price. At the heart of the hotel are many issues with a facade of a...
Read moreFolks, I have not written a review that was negative EVER, and I have stayed comfortably in hotels all over the country and the world, many of which were in the Marriott family. BUT, I have never stayed in such a stylish hotel so poorly designed for a stay of more than one night. Suite, 5th floor corner #21. A disappointment such that we left 3 days early. It looked BEAUTIFUL but was not designed for actual people.
There were no drawers for personal items in either the bathroom or bedroom. The 3 drawers for possible use were in the kitchen next to the sink and under the food prep area, with 4 very small drawers under the coffee maker. Why would I put my clothing in the kitchen/living room food prep area when the bedroom was so large?
In the kitchen, the very small refrigerator was impossible to open, until to raise it up, we put a thickness of fabrics under it because the fridge door exactly fit up to the lip on the lower frame of the cabinet. And to open this closet to get to the fridge, if you didn’t get your fingers right into the frame in the correct spot, your finger gets pinched. To fit a juice bottle into this fridge, the shelf needed removal, And NOTHING in the kitchen, even if I wanted to use the microwave, no plates, flatware, only 2 water glasses in the bathroom and no glassware, paper towels or any possible anything was available that could be used to support even a snack. The round table in the dining area was so wobbly, my husband and I could not both set up our computers there at the same time, as whoever touched their side, bumped up and down the other side. We called the desk requesting wine glasses, but none were ever sent up. Who is in charge here????
In the bedroom a lovely long table under a large, wonderful window had a small, and I mean small, chair which I believe was designed for the bum the size of a 10-year-old child. Did any Hotel staff ever try to sit in this chair?? I am a small size 8 and my bum did not fit in this attractive, but very uncomfortable chair. As we both had business to attend to, I couldn’t even use this space for my computer and had to use the coffee table and sit on the sofa- not great for my back.
At some point on day 2, I wanted to press something, but the iron in the closet was a good 4 inches higher than my 5’4” arms could reach, so I had to wait till my husband returned from a business meeting to get the iron down. I doubt that anyone shorter than 5’7" could reach the iron.
The design of the suite was attractive, but I doubt none of the hotel staff actually experienced how difficult it was to actually “live” in this space. I suggest if you are a Marriott user, sign into a sister hotel if you want to stay for more than one night with this brand in...
Read moreThis place is great if you want somewhere that is new and looks modern and cool but also if you want rude, zero personality, and condescending staff. I stayed here 4x the last mth hoping it would get better but it didn’t. First time I had a 2pm checkout and housekeeping started knocking on door at 8:30 to clean, and then it continued 5 more times while I attempted to nap. My son is in the hospital here and I was exhausted and needed a break but alas no luck. The mgr apologized and said it was bad communication with cleaners and front desk. Because there was a big convention in town it was $1200 a night. I decided to book again. Didn’t have issues this time and they gave me the 4pm check out from Amex. Then we booked a 3rd time and the Amex 4pm checkout was given again. Then finally we booked a 4th time and there was an issue because originally it was booked for one night and I wanted to extend to two nights. Also if you book two nights you get the Amex benefits which I need for the late checkout. After Over an hour on hold Amex couldn’t get the on site manager on the phone for approval. The girl at the front desk said my options were to cancel (and pay the one night penalty) and rebook completely. That didn’t make sense because I wasn’t trying to cancel I was trying to extend. She told Amex that she needed her mgr but didn’t know where he was. That took over an hour of wasted time from myself and Amex. When I arrived I said “listen I don’t care if I get the $100 Amex spending credit at hotel I just need the 4pm checkout”. She said no problem. Now keep in mind the two mornings I was at hotel I went to the restaurant to order a cup of milk and some berries and bananas and both times there was one server who literally looked at me and turned around and went back into kitchen with it getting my order. I don’t know her name but she was of African American decent and wears glasses. She was so rude to me both times. So…today I have the 4pm checkout. I’m trying to nap and of course they knock on door and walk right in. Then at 3:47 the girl that checked me in calls demanding I leave the room. I still have 13 min left. I was not thrilled. I was trying tk finish the room service that had shown up late. She said “you have done this to us 4 times!!!” I said goodbye and hung up. Then I realized what she actually said. She made me feel like a total squatter. I called her back and said “let’s be clear. I had late checkouts approved on every single stay. I didn’t over stay my time. You are making it sound like I’m breaking the rules when in fact you honored the Amex late checkout”. I was beyond upset. They are very condescending and have zero personality. Will never...
