My fiancé and I have eaten here a few times, but no more It pains me to leave only two stars, because people at the front are courteous/professional and so has the wait staff, the ~ 8x we've been to lazy dog. If not for them, I'd have left a one star. Our last visit, a man in his early 20's (later we learned was an off-duty employee of lazy dog) clearly intoxicated, drinking at the bar, and back and forth outside to bar, saw people dining he knew, seated just behind us. He went to their table, loudly exclaiming his high level of intoxication, bragging to the table of males, women he'd had sexual relations with, and wildly stood up to animate some drunken point by wildly swinging his arms, elbowing my fience in the back of the head. Our waitress saw from across the restaurant, immediately brought a towel w/ice and gave us his name, informing us he's an off duty employee. I went to speak with the man, he'd gone outside (drinking on the porch from what looked to be a personal cup) he and I made eye contact and I made my way outside to find that in the 30 seconds it took for me to reach the outside patio, he had abruptly left (confirmed to me by the people he'd been hanging around with) and didn't return at least for as long as we remained at the restaurant. My fiance has had medical issues as a direct result of this incident and we contacted their HR department, received very cold and brief correspondence, (then silence) and we were treated as tho we, did something wrong. We were given attitude and not at all given the help or respect I'd have expected from a place boasting a family-style environment and establishment. And considering this man was drinking at lazy dogs bar, and hadn't been cut off, I'd think such an incident would be taken more seriously and handled w/a professional degree of care and respect. Incredibly disappointing, and I will not in any way support a business who handles something as real and serious as harm caused to their patrons, especially by their own staff on or off the clock, especially when alcohol is involved. That level of irresponsibility and disrespect is nothing I will reward with my patronage or support in any way...
Read moreI want to talk about the service at your San Diego restaurant (Address: 1202 Camino Del Rio N, San Diego, CA 92108 USA). This is my first time to dine at your restaurant. I feel super angry and deceived. The experience of your restaurant is the worst! Your employee are very dishonest and rude! I think I will never dine in this restaurant again until I receive any apology and compensation, and I will tell all my family and friends this is a very dishonest restaurant! Your employee cheated customers! You should strengthen employee training and select employees carefully! My friend and I went to the restaurant for dinner at about 2 o'clock in the afternoon on July 2. We sat in the low seating area and a "male waiter" served us. We ordered a large BBQ ribs , fried shrimp and juice, before leaving, we also ordered an extra large BBQ ribs for takeout. The meal we ate in that day actually gave us the wrong flavor. The waiter did not confirm the order content with us at the order time. Moreover, after the food was served, they did not proactively provide us with plates to share. Then we finished the meal, we left a 15% tip in cash on the table. My friend and I were still sitting in our seats chatting, and the waiter came directly to taking away the money on the table was very rude! What surprised me the most was that after chatting with my friend for a while, we got up and walked down the aisle to leave the restaurant. The waiter stopped us in the middle. He took out a piece of paper and explained to us the service of this restaurant. The tips must be more than 20%, and he insisted that we must pay him more. We originally thought it was the restaurant's rule and overpaid, at this moment I felt super shock, Because it does't make sense. My other friends of mine have been to your restaurant in the pass, they said that this waiter deceived me in order to get more tips, which is very bad and crazy, that this kind of service attitude is not worthy of giving more than 20%. I feel worse about my dining experience at your restaurant. This is the first and last time ,I will not want to dine in your...
Read moreOur first visit to Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar left us feeling underwhelmed, though there were some highlights worth mentioning. If you're a beer enthusiast, their extensive selection is sure to impress. For those who don't drink alcohol, they offer non-alcoholic options, which is a nice touch. I tried one of their Sparkling Refreshers, the Tropical, made with housemade agave sweet and sour, orange juice, pomegranate, coconut-pineapple cream, and mint. It was refreshing and enjoyable, a definite bright spot in the experience.
For our starter, we ordered the new Pie Tin Nachos, which include Nellie Mexican-Style Lager cheese sauce, guacamole, tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, Tapatío crema, queso blanco, and cilantro. We added chicken, but when they arrived, the chicken was missing, so we had to send them back. Unfortunately, the nachos came out with our main meals instead of as a proper appetizer. Flavor-wise, they were disappointing--bland and lacking depth. As a new menu item, I'm not sure they'll stand the test of time.
For my entrée, I chose the Blackened Chicken Burrito Bowl from their Roadtrip Bowls. It featured rice, blackened chicken breast, cabbage, guacamole, black beans, hatch chiles, jack and cheddar cheese, salsa, corn, cilantro, and Tapatío crema. Oddly, it also included peas, which felt entirely out of place in a burrito bowl. The dish lacked flavor and was overall bland, with the peas being a strange and unnecessary addition.
We also tried the Pot Roast Beef Dip Sandwich, which included slow-cooked pot roast, mozzarella, caramelized onions, horseradish cream sauce on a toasted roll, served with au jus and onion rings. This was decent, with the pot roast being tender, but it didn't stand out enough to make us want to return.
Overall, while Lazy Dog had a welcoming atmosphere and good service, the food didn't live up to our expectations. It was busy during our visit, so it clearly has a following, but based on this experience, it's not a place we would revisit. With so many other options out there, it's hard to justify coming back for food that...
