Drift Cafe — Restaurant in San Diego

Just had a very demeaning experience at Drift Coffee. After Bird Rock roasters closing down in the area, I was looking for a regular spot in Pacific Beach to go to. I figured I'd try Drift Coffee since they had high reviews. I walk in and sat down with my laptop. Walk up to the counter and ask what the password to the Wi-Fi is. Which they gave me and then asked if I was ready to order. I said let me get settled in and I just drank some water so give me a chance to work up to the coffee. His reply is well you need to order something if you want to use their Wi-Fi. I politely replied just give me time cuz I'm not ready yet. I sat down in about 10 minutes into it I noticed that there were connecrion issues with the Wi-Fi as did a customer next to me. Apparently he was bumped off his business zoom call. After a couple minutes the Wi-Fi seemed to come back. Interesting enough once he left the coffee shop the Wi-Fi mysteriously went out again. After waiting 10 minutes, I walk up to the counter to ask if their Wi-Fi is sort of sporadic there. The staff member told me it is for people that don't order. So I asked you turned it off because I wasn't ready to order? To which she replied yeah you're not a customer. So I guess at this place the conditionally treat you like a customer if you order up front. And apparently it seems that this comes from the owner/manager. Unfortunately for them they lost a regular customer that also has regular business meetings at coffee shops with clients. My recommendation find some place where you can go and they will treat you well and they actually want your presence there not just your money. Awful...

Thank you thank you thank you!! For delicious decaf that doesn’t taste sour or burnt or makes my stomach turn. Out of 4 days we stayed in town every day we looked for a coffee shop that would: either serve Oatly brand barista milk or accept my milk to make my latte. have a good tasting decaf. This coffee shop did all of that in the last day of our stay! Their shots don’t disappoint either! Their 16 oz comes with 3 shots, love it! I wish I found them sooner! You guys are awesome! This place has a lovely atmosphere & super cute decor. You guys made my day!💗💗💗

FYI don’t waste your time on these places:

Buzzed coffee- has Pacific brand oat milk...eh, does not accept your milk at all. It’s their policy no exceptions. Kick rocks. Bird Rock coffee- yes they have different types of oat milks, califa, oatly & almond milk., however their decaf has an odd not very pleasant flavor. Barefoot coffee- decaf is sour, only offers 1 size 12 oz. califa oat milk. Lofty coffee- they serve Minor Figures organic oat milk, not thick enough for lattes. I wanted to love this place since everyone was raving about it, honestly has the worst decaf, it is sooo sour! Prepare for stomach ache & everything that comes with it. (If you know what I mean) it wasn’t just me but my husband also had the same reaction, his stomach can handle a lot!

Moral of this rant: save yourself some time & come to Drift Coffee!! You’re welcome 😇 Our new go to...

My wife and I recently had a destination wedding in San Diego, CA. We were looking for a reception area and we came across Drift Cafe on a website called peerspace. The pictures were beautiful and the vibe was everything we were looking for. Obviously, being so far away and not from the area we had to fully rely and trust the pictures, the reviews and the comments. I’m so glad we did. It was everything if not more than what we expected. Marlee is AMAZING! I’m sure at some point (multiple points lol) I was being a bridezilla and asking so many questions and Marlee was extremely professional, responsive, flexible and honestly really helped put my mind at ease. Her cafe is gorgeous. Her communication and responsiveness is calming. And her food! OMG!!!! Her food is delicious! I felt so welcomed, everything was perfect. The cafe was already perfectly set up and decorated. All we did was add centerpieces that my mother in law made and the rest was just the beauty of the cafe. I appreciate Marlee and her staff so much. I would definitely give this place more than 5 stars if I could. I absolutely...
