The McElroy Octagon House is a fun little place with great colonial-era treasures! Then house is currently owned by the National Society of the Colonial Danes. They collect and preserve many colonial era homes all over the US. The house is open on very few hours throughout the month. It is not marketed well as well. There were 3 or 4 docents that were available at the place & showed great hospitality. There were cookies, cider & Christmas decor.

Read moreI finally was able to visit the Octagon House - run by volunteers. I got an educational tour by volunteer docents. The docents are friendly; explanations can be detailed as you want; docents love telling the history of each piece of furniture, pictures and mementos; transcripts are original; and many documents were on loan to other museums. Read moreThis is a lot of fun if you're in the Union St. area. This is an 8 sided house that is over 150 years old. Cool historical value. Also a great little park and gardens. Just one of those kinda wacky things that we San Francisco folks love . Very interesting, about the Dames who saved this place....
