MARU by DW — Hotel in San Juan

Wanted to love this place. The rooms are beautiful and it’s located close to beach and restaurants. The problem is the layout of properties. There is essentially a party-house on the second floor and they claim that the building is solid concrete which helps reduce noise. Quite the opposite. You will hear EVERYTHING. Earplugs will not cut it and that will be the only solution offered. This facility is well aware of the excessive noise and unwilling to help solve the problem.

There is no way to reach management while you stay here. Better not have any issues. You can message but no one gets back to you and Managers refuse to pick up the phone to call you.

Two full days of planned adventures were ruined due to lack of sleep and time spent trying to get to a resolution. I DO NOT recommend staying here or staying at any property by DW, in fact. Especially if you intend to spend more than one night.

Maru response below leads on that this was a single incident when it was in fact 3 separate incidents involving 3 separate sets of guests. Most don’t stay more than 1 night. We had our own ear plugs just in case though we are used to city noise. No other guest complained because everyone was partying in the unit above us. This is not a large hotel. It’s an apartment building with only a few units. I’d be happy to share video footage with decibel measurement of the noise at 3am as well as the messages that went entirely unanswered from management on the 3rd night. Quite frankly, the guest shouldn’t be reprimanded when the apartment is set up for that exact type of activity.

Also, we weren’t seeking compensation. We did however expect that we would not be charged for the remaining days on the reservation since we left mid week and had to find alternate accommodation. However, Maru felt they were still entitled to that money thought they quickly posted the apartment as available on Airbnb.

I recommended you stay in your units for a few nights to experience the noise for yourself. Cement construction doesn’t muffle...

The apartment is amazing, you can’t beat the location, the kitchen is fully stock it and very clean the roof area is really nice and relaxing I will definitely come back and do not hesitate to book it.

The only downturn of the place was the service, and as first timer staying in a self check in property my nightmare about staying in a place like this came true, the email that they sent us had the wrong code in it, we arrive to the property at midnight, we called the emergency number and no one answer the phone, I tried several times and no luck. the owners of the building also have a hotel in the area so I called the reception, the night attendant (Miguel) picked up the phone and came to the building to assist us, he tried to call the building manager and he didn’t picked up the phone either, he left to find a solution for us and around 3 am he was able to get us another place to stay until the office opened and they were able to gave us the right code. At 7am they sent us the right code and we were able to go the place.

I work with vacation homes in the central Florida area and it that had happened in one of the properties that I work with hell will had broke loose over it specially on this price range.

Beware of it, but do not hesitate to book it, just make sure the management give you the right code

My fiancé and I had an absolutely incredible stay at AYA in MARU by Dreamers Welcome. Our trip was to start planning our destination wedding. We had a jam packed schedule but staying at MARU helped us tremendously!!! When we arrived late night after our first day of site visits, the room was already chilled for us, Brita pitcher filled and ice cubes for days - these little details stood out to us to immediately make us feel relaxed and know we'd made it. We were so happy to see the inclusion of beach chairs and the proximity a super market and to Playa Ashford. We were able to be on the beach within 30 hours of our arrival due the centralize location. I used the indoor shower once as I took full advantage of the outdoor soaking tub and shower. Our stay was so amazing that we did all our research to recommend ALL the Dreamers Welcome locations to our guests, as if you look at them from a map, most are a few blocks away from each other and Play Ashford. I cannot thank DW enough for saving us, as our original booking with a different Airbnb was canceled just days before our trip! But with DW I had about 7 options to choose from just the day before we left. We will definitely be choosing to stay at a DW location again while we plan our...
