I was looking forward to experiencing the speakeasy ambience and cocktail experience that Furtivo Speakeasy promises to provide. However, these expectations were quickly met with profound dissatisfaction and disappointment when, barely commencing the experience, my partner and I were kept waiting standing up by the entrance, while people rudely looked at us, for roughly 15-20 minutes. There were no chairs to sit and wait, nor were we offered to sit by the bar while we waited. I had previously made a reservation before arriving, a few days with anticipation. My partner and I were puntual on our timing, one can only expect that the business respects this punctuality, and act accordingly, which Furtivo Speakeasy did not. Furthermore, as if that weren’t enough, once seated at our table, as I mentioned before, after 15-20 minutes standing up having previous reservation, we were not greeted, no water was offered, no drink order was taken, nothing happened for 30 minutes. By that point, and after multiple attempts to get the waiter’s attention, I called a nearby speakeasy, which there are plenty of in the area, made reservations on the spot, stood up with my partner, and left. More than a reasonable amount of time passed before I left the place. I gave Furtivo Speakeasy multiple opportunities to be serviced, for as long as 30 minutes. Nonetheless, my partner and I were left unattended. On those 30 minutes, I was able to get an understanding of the place: it is very loud, the tables are way too close from one another, the ambiance and atmosphere is nice, the colors created a wonderful speakeasy ambience, but the service, regretfully, was nonexistent. The experience was so uncomfortable that my partner and I couldn’t even take pictures. A full place, while good for business, cannot be an excuse for bad service. A better organization is key. The speakeasy business is a competitive one in this area, and other places nearby can provide with the same experience including the bare minimum, that is, service. I emphasize that two individuals are two stories and two lives that took time, planning, and resources to get to a place that promises an experience that it just did not comply with. I highly value my time and responsibility, and take it very seriously when they are disregarded the way that Furtivo did. As of now, and in good conscience, I cannot...

What started as a great night celebrating a birthday quickly turned into one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve had in Puerto Rico. As the night went on, the server (who later revealed he was actually the owner) repeatedly pressured our guests to order more drinks, creating an uncomfortable environment. It genuinely felt like he was trying to take advantage of our group rather than provide good service.

When it came time to pay, he informed us that a mandatory 20% tip would be added for groups over ten, something that is completely illegal in Puerto Rico. Once we reviewed the bill, things got even worse: he had added four items we never ordered (obviously we did not pay for this), charged 20 dollars for each mezcalita despite no cocktail on the menu being priced anywhere near that, and slipped in a 20-dollar “cake service” fee simply for giving us plates and utensils to cut a birthday cake, a fee he never disclosed.

When we questioned the charges, his attitude became arrogant, condescending, and completely unprofessional. At no point did he attempt to clarify, apologize, or resolve the issue, instead, he doubled down, making the situation even more uncomfortable for everyone.

If the interaction had been handled respectfully, I probably wouldn’t even be writing this review or filing a complaint with DACO. But the combination of unauthorized charges, illegal practices, and disrespectful behavior left us with no choice.

I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, not even as a last option. There are far better places in Puerto Rico that value honesty, hospitality, and...

Furtivo is a hidden gem among speakeasies, weaving an enchanting tapestry of culinary excellence. The tapas are nothing short of extraordinary – the alcapurrias boast a perfect blend of flavors, and the tomato tartare is a symphony for the palate without mentioning the bao’s WOOOOW. The truffle-infused drinks elevate the entire experience, adding a touch of sophistication and unparalleled richness. This establishment is a haven for those seeking a gastronomic adventure and expertly crafted cocktails in a clandestine ambiance. It's an absolute triumph for both the epicurean and the cocktail connoisseur. Christian, the server at Furtivo, embodies excellence with attentive service that enhances the overall dining experience. Tiffany, the manager, ensures a seamless operation, creating an atmosphere of warmth and professionalism. Together, their dedication contributes significantly to making Furtivo not just a place for remarkable cuisine but a destination where...

the moment you walk in, the atmosphere transports you to a chic, 1920s-inspired vibe that’s both intimate and exciting. The craft cocktails are nothing short of spectacular—carefully curated and bursting with flavor. The mixologists clearly know their craft and are happy to recommend the perfect drink based on your preferences. The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect. The tapas were equally impressive—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, complementing the drinks perfectly. Whether you’re looking for a fun night out or a cozy spot to enjoy great conversation, Furtivo delivers on all fronts. It’s a must-visit for anyone in San Juan! I can’t wait to come back and bring friends. Highly recommend!👌
