I was really trying to convince myself not to leave a Google Review, but out of all the Best Westerns I've stayed in (rewards member since 2011), this probably is the worst experience we've had.
We arrived around 3:15 PM for our stay and were pleased to see the front desk staff had prepared in advance for our stay. We were going to Hale Centre Theater for a play at 4 PM so we were hurrying to drop off our suitcases before going there and grateful for the efficiency. That was the 2nd of the positive experience. We arrived at our room on the 2nd floor and opened the door to find a maintenance person inside with a cart full of tools blocking the door. He was nice and apologetic but we were confused as to why the front desk would allow us to check in with someone working in the room. After the maintenance tech left, we were doing a once over in the room and discovered sand paper in the bathroom from the work he was doing. We were in a hurry to get to the theater so we tossed it and headed to the theater.
Upon our return, our daughter opened up the pull out couch to get it ready for bed and decided she would rather sleep on the couch unmade because "it looks like it hadn't been opened in ages. The amount of dust was like someone had died and the family hadn't touched the room since." To wind down after a crazy week, we decided we'd venture down to the pool. We probably Footloose relaxed better in the dusty bed. The towels were only big enough for a child under 10 and the windows between the pool and the breakfast room/lobby/business center shortened our experience due to the feeling of being watched by others. Our sleeping experience (minus the pull out couch) wasn't terrible. The beds & pillows were sufficient for a one night stay, but staying longer would probablyleave us feeling 20 years older.
The next morning we were unable to shower due to the shower faucet not working. There are instructions, we read them, but we pulled the faucest out and nothing happened. When we went down for breakfast, we attempted to talk to the front desk staff and were treated like we were idiots and asked if we pulled the faucet to turn it on. We replied with a yes and he just shrugged like we were on our own and he made no attempt to help us further.
The breakfast experience left even less to be desired. As I mentioned, this isn't our first Best Western stay. If I could draw a picture in a review you'd feel as confined as we did by the space. The seating worked great if you were a party of 2, but the wall between it and the registration desk left a blind spot to the breakfast counter. If you were in line, nobody fixing a plate would know. There was no waffle maker (weird) and the eggs were out. They did have French toast, if you can call it that. I'm pretty sure my kids would rather eat the frozen kind from the grocery store. Since there wasn't an experience worth staying for, we decided to pack up and just head home.
Before leaving we tried the bathroom faucet one more time and come to find out you had to pull it to the point you felt like you were going to break it to get the water on.
Overall, we are grateful we used our rewards points to pay for the room because it wouldn't have been worth a dime from my account, however I am now 3 days past my stay and the incidentals holds has still not fallen off my account. I've used my debit card in the past and the incidental charge was gone by the next day for previous stays. To say we're disappointed that this was the experience we got from being best western rewards member would be an...
Read moreFirst off, I would like to start by saying that the rooms themselves were quite spacious and definitely a good fit for staying multiple days. Also, the bathtub is perfect for two and has a nice modern look, which is always a plus. Now, time for the portion that was not so great.
My fiance and I were in Utah and stayed at this location due to a member of her family having health issues, which warranted a visit. The room was booked well in advance and we were actually a couple of hours late to check in, but notified the hotel of this well in advance. The check in itself was fine and so far everything seemed like it would be the perfect place to stay. Once we made it to the room we noticed that the fridge had items from the last tenant, the counter top had a giant bottle of jergens lotion, and there was food present. I wasn't initially worried, since it seemed like house keeping might have forgotten to grab it on the way out. I went to inform the staff and sent my GF with the rental car to see her family. I figured no big deal, I would inform them and they would take care of it while I waiting at a sports bar next door (Utah is horrible with their liquor laws.. BYOB). The staff did not seem to care about the issue. They said they would send someone up (not housekeeping) to inspect the room and ensure nothing else was out of place. Well, half an hour later, I went to the room only to discover that the bathroom was full of used soaps, shampoos, hair, etc. It was definitely not cleaned at all, which threw me off, since they said that they inspected the room.. a second time. The hospitality staff did not seem to care and they sent a gentleman, I believe to be maintenance, with me to check it out. This guy was awesome. The best and most helpful person in the entire hotel in my opinion and I am actually upset that I did not remember his name. He took one look around and immediately petitioned to get us a new room, since he was honest about being extremely upset at what they tried to pass off as a "ready room". I eventually got a different room, which was perfect. I would honestly give 4 stars if it was not for that complete lack of...
Read moreAbsolutely not returning. I read the reviews before booking here and thought it would’ve been just fine. I’m not sure how this place received so many positive reviews. I booked a room 3-months in advance, received a confirmation, and for some reason they didn’t have it when we arrived. After a ton of hassle at 11pm, with crabby kids in the car, they ended up getting us into a room. Not a great impression to begin with but then there was some random guy hanging out in the lobby who looked like he lived there with his cart full of belongings. We were all so tired that we decided to stay the night anyway.
The cleanliness of the room was disgusting. The carpet smelled, the window sills were filthy, and we only had a 1/2 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom.
The amenities are seriously lacking for what we paid. No microwaves, the furniture in the rooms are falling apart (I was afraid to even set anything on the table because I thought the whole thing might fall over)..the chair was actually peeling and the ironing board was a joke. The furniture is very obviously low quality.
Breakfast was subpar, at best. Their pancake machine was down so we had, literally, bland french toast sticks, eggs, and sausage nearly every day. The juice machine was flooding and spilling all over the floor, the little fridge with yogurts was locked one day so we couldn’t even get to the yogurt or cold dairy items. The little toaster they have is pretty much worthless given the amount of people there all trying to get breakfast. It shouldn’t take my family nearly 20 minutes to even get all of their food.
Front desk staff appeared to hate the fact that they were even there. I never received a welcome walking into the hotel despite there being a different staff member every single day. They seem bothered we were there..even housekeeping. It was a very unwelcoming feeling.
If you’re looking for a low-quality hotel but still charges the same as the other, higher quality, hotels in the area, then this is for you!
Such a...
