I had planned this vacation for a while something for my husband and I to enjoy our first year anniversary I looked for ever to find a place that had a suite and room service. I was going to book it online but was unsure if it was the room I actually wanted. So I called but when you call you don’t get the direct hotel it takes you to a service that I guess deals with all of them I wanted the suite that had two separate rooms one for the bed and one with a sitting area because I didn’t want to sit in bed to watch tv, there was one that also had a jetted tub. This is the room I wanted. I called and talked to a guy who spoke English but had an accent so it was hard to understand him a little. I explained what I wanted multiple times and thought we had it right. I booked it and later had to call to change it so it wasn’t one person but two people staying in that room this time talked to a lady who spoke better English but not clearly too and I asked again if it was the room I wanted and according to her yes it was. I was so excited when we got to the hotel to check in loaded our hands and headed upstairs opened the room and it was NOT what I wanted at all. It had the king sized bed it had a fireplace but there was no second room no jetted tub. We went back down stairs and talked with the front desk manager we believe and told him what was going on he explained they only have 2 rooms like that and both were occupied. I was so upset I honestly didn’t want to stay there. But I wanted some time to be away from the house so we stayed. We ate at the restaurant down stairs. We ordered nachos and a salad and it took over 20 mins to get food and we were the only ones there. Other than chicken on both plates there was nothing else that needed to be cooked. The chicken in the nachos was cold and the chicken on the salad was hot to the point it was wilting the greens. We then ordered desert which was good and the manager at the front desk so kindly bought it for us. I am guessing because we didn’t get what we wanted to start with. The next morning we wanted room service for breakfast since I had never had room service before. when I was ordering the lady said the breakfast coupons that we got with the room did not apply to room service and would have to come down stairs. We had it room serviced any way. The breakfast was good but there was no where to eat it. the bed was hard to eat on we had a small chair or like a desk but both of us couldn’t sit at. So room service was not a good experience. The fireplace I know was only for looks but when you turn it on all you get it the blue glow not the orange and red. What’s the point then? When in the hot tub the Trax was really loud we could hear it from our room several times too. This morning we packed our things placed them in the car and had breakfast in the restaurant. Again the only people around it took 2-5 mins for some one to even notice we were there and then when we wanted to order she wasn’t ready and wrote it down on her hand. It took about 20 mins for food which was ok since everything needed to be cooked and it was good. We left a couple things like a water bottle in the room when we went back upstairs to get them the room service ladies were in there!! We had the shh sign on the door and check out times wasn’t until 12 why in the world at 10:30 on someone’s check out day would you go in there with the sign on the door!! So not cool so we ended up leaving. I was not happy with this stay what so ever and would...
Read moreWe had some concerns with the outside environments with all the electrical poles. The amenities and building of the hotel are fine with a certain acceptance. I believe it is a good hotel.
However, I have several encounters with this hotel’s staffs. It minus a lot of points.
I had a phone call with the night shift staff two days ago before our stay. The gentleman was very professional and fixed all the questions, ie, reserved a room, tried to combine my two reservations into one. So, we don’t have to move in between reservations.
When we checked in, unfortunately, the staff seemed has no idea that we are going to stay for 3 nights, and asked if we will check out the next day. I wondered why I made clear to the reservation staff and the gentleman stated that we will be staying for 3 nights? Is it the communication problem or the computer system problem?
I called the hotel on 7/30, requesting the possibility of changing the room on the next day since the electrical poles bothered my wife a lot. The staff’s answer was she cannot do anything. Even I told her the gentleman helped me with the room planning the other, so maybe she can do the same to see the possibility. Ehh, she simply asked me to talk to the morning staff for the matter and said she cannot do anything.
The hotel staff told my wife that we have points that we can choose to put them back to my account or exchange for the breakfast. I went to the front desk. Even it was about 4:00, it was the night shift lady. She was drinking water or something when she saw me came in the hotel and directly to the front desk. She kept drinking and I waited there for more than 10 seconds to watch her drink. It’s no big deal if she has to have the water taking medication or anything. But the following conversation was not on the point at all.
I asked about the points. She didn't reply at all and went to the computer. After 1 minute or so, she said, so what was the question?
I repeated again and finally got everything sort out. Unfortunately, I didn’t see a bit of smile or gentleness or careless for the whole conversation.
On 8/1, I wanted to confirm about my statue on checking out for the next day. It was about 3:00 or so on 8/1, and it was the lady again. After my question, no answer, no “a moment, please”, she went directly to the computer and another waiting time later, the answer was I can have a late check out.
Among many other requests with the front desk, the responses from the morning shift, like 9:00, 10:00, even 1:30, the smile, the answer, the conversation were all perfect. Seven the system blocked us out due to the late check, the 1:20 staff was friendly and solved the problem for us. I think Holiday Inn should think about why the night-shift lady’s behavior will have the customer type all these paragraphs to make you aware of it.
I love Holiday inn. I have many years of experiences and membership with IHG. Sometimes, pros or cons can stay with me. But this time, I’ve been thinking about seeding back the feedback the moment I had that call with the night shift lady on 7/30. The other encounters just made me feel I need to send...
Read moreAs a long time member of IHG, I am writing this to get your attention on some issues that happened in my recent stay in Holiday Inn, South Jordan, UT.
In my recent inter-states trip, I checked into Holiday Inn in South Jordan on 7/16 and checked out 7/18. In general, my experience in this hotel was pleasant and peaceful, though there were some service issues, such as washer and dryer malfunction after repeated payments. However I have to address an incident that happened just after I checked out but not fully exit yet to you.
It was around 5:30am on 7/18. After loading luggages to my car parked just in front of the hotel, I did surrender my room keys and check out at the front desk. When I started my car's engine and was ready to drive away, suddenly I realized my prescribed glasses were not on me. Immediately I went back to the hotel while I left the car idling. Now trouble started: I didn't have the room keys anymore, which were required to open the front door of the hotel. I waved and knocked in front of the door asking for help. Through the glass door, it's very clear: NOBODY in the front desk and lobby. C'mon, it's less than 2 minutes just after I stepped out. I used a phone beside the door but nobody answered it. I used my own phone calling the hotel, still nobody, ... 10 minutes later, I didn't have any other ways to get anybody's attention there except pounding the door heavily hoping somebody in the hotel could hear me. Don't get me wrong, I did not want to behave without courtesy like this, but I was in a helpless situation under my scheduled departure. Almost 20 minutes later, the staff, who did my check- out, showed up and opened the door from the front desk. She did not even say a word, but from her impression underneath a mask, I could tell she was not happy at all. My interpretation about the way her body language was why you left so early? I explained to her I forgot my prescribed glasses in the room. After I was in front of my room on the 4th floor, I realized I did not have the room key. What another mistake! So I went back to the front desk, got the key and went back to the room, located my glasses on the bed and exited the hotel again. Before I stepped out, I asked for the staff's name, Stacy. When I drove away from the hotel's parking lot, it was about 6:30am, almost 50 minutes past my scheduled departure. Due to this incident, not only I missed my travel schedule, but my emotion in the trip was ruined.
This is the first time I have had an experience like this. From my understanding, no matter what happens, as a hotel's essential requirement, it should have never happened NOBODY is in the front desk, no matter if it is from professionalism or security concern. Under a pandemic situation, this requirement should be emphasized more, instead of an excuse for less. At least answering phone calls is a can-do.
I request your hotel's management to pay attention to this incident, including reviewing the monitor's record, and feed me back with...
