The Spiral Staircase at the Loretto Chapel is absolutely worth a visit—the chapel is stunningly beautiful, peaceful, and rich with history. The craftsmanship of the staircase truly lives up to the legend, and the overall setting adds to the awe. It’s a short visit, but incredibly memorable, especially for those who appreciate architecture, faith history, or just want a quiet moment during a busy travel day. We also appreciated that youth pricing applies up to age 17, which was a pleasant surprise for our family with teens. The staff was kind, the space was spotless, and the exhibit signage inside helped make the experience even more meaningful. This is one of those spots that captures a little magic—don’t skip it if you’re in Santa Fe!

What a beautiful miracle to see! Would definitely recommend coming and seeing this in person. Photos don't cut it! Such an unreal sight to see a staircase standing up without nails, glue or a center support. The staircase has two 360 degree turns and no visible means of support. How incredible is that!! The only thing that sucked about this was the price you paid to get in... I don't think it was really fair to be honest... Otherwise I loved the rest of the experience.

Tourist trap but at $5 a head you can't really complain... if you think of it as spread across a visit with the actual cathedral next door, it doesn't feel quite as silly. It is a cool staircase, but other than a voiceover recording about the chapel, there's not a lot of educational info about the staircase itself. You'll be in here for less than 10 minutes which includes the gift shop.

If you come within a hundred miles of this place, you must make the detour to see this at least once in your life. I have been here twice and both times I was mesmerized. For a believer, this incredible structure and the story behind it increases your faith and makes you realize that miracles do happen and are right there for all to see. For the nonbeliever, the skill and craftsmanship that went into this nearly 150 years ago is stunning. This extraordinary piece of architecture can be appreciated by all. To those complaining about the admission price, this is no longer an active church, the congregation moved on decades ago. At one point in time this remarkable location looked like it might face demolition, thankfully a private entity stepped up and is preserving it for posterity. I have no issue paying a small fee to preserve this...
