Extremely Disappointed with My First Visit to Ascend Spa
As a first-time customer at Ascend Spa, I had high hopes for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I specifically researched this place especially bc I just moved here from CA. However, my visit turned out to be a series of disappointments, and I left feeling unsatisfied and frustrated.
Appointment Timing: My appointment was scheduled for 10 am, but it took three hours to complete my requested services - eyebrow shaping, Shellac manicure, and regular pedicure. This was incredibly inconvenient for me and made me feel like my time was not valued as they only assigned me to one person.
Eyebrow Tint: I asked for an eyebrow tint, but the application was sloppy, going beyond my eyebrow lines. This resulted in stains that lasted for a day. It was evident that attention to detail was lacking.
Nail Design: I requested flower designs on my nails, and the nail technician initially said she would "try it first" to see if I liked it. Unfortunately, I didn't like the design, but she dried my nails under the light before asking me if I liked them or not. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, she couldn't understand me, so she called for front staff to assist with translation. They refused to remove it, claiming it had already dried and would require drilling to remove. This inflexibility in addressing my concerns was frustrating.
French Tip on Toes: During my pedicure, there was no natural or light pink color coat applied before the French tip. It was just clear. This is a basic step that was overlooked, and it left me feeling like the quality of service was subpar.
Customer Service: To make matters worse, I was charged for the designs on my nails even though both the technician and the front staff were aware of my dissatisfaction. Their response was dismissive, attributing it to a miscommunication and offering no resolution.
In conclusion, my first experience at Ascend Spa was far from enjoyable. The extended appointment time, poor execution of services, and lack of responsiveness to my concerns left me deeply disappointed. I did not feel like a valued customer, and I will not be returning to Ascend Spa in the future. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the spa to improve its services and customer...
Read moreI received a pedicure yesterday. The overall shape was beautifully done. However, I specifically went in because my big toe was showing signs of nail discomfort. I asked the technician to check it for me. I get my toes done monthly, to prevent ingrown toenails. It was obvious she was not skilled assessing the situation. She ended up cutting the inside nail bed and my toe really hurts today. I'm hoping that this doesn't cause a doctors visit in the future.
Secondly - they do not take American Express, which for locals isn't a big deal but I'm traveling and I have allocated my finances for my trip. NO WHERE is it listed,...(not on the website, not on the door, not at the front desk) that they don't take AMEX, which is illegal. I asked the clerk what happens if someone only has AMEX and she said they force people to go get cash. It's extremely unprofessional to shock people at the checkout desk. What's saddens me is that it's obvious I'm not the only one who's been crutched by this. While I was talking to the desk clerk another guest getting her nails done said, "oh you don't take amex?" She was also shocked. So this means this happens frequently - and they just allow it to happen.
If it's a pricing thing fine - but they are also charging an additional 5% for CC use. Most people know that CC transactions to the business owner are between 2.9% - 4% + .30 for each transaction. The 5% covers the transaction costs . I believe that they don't disclose not taking amex so they don't detract business - however,... they should know shocking people at checkout is not going to keep business.
I frequent Seattle often. I will never be back to this...
Read moreCame here late last year and had a pretty good experience. Came yesterday, paid for the Ascend signature spa pedi ($80) with shellac($15 add-on). The overall result was fine, my feet were smooth and the color looks good. However, my experience with the the manicurist, Rose, was pretty bad. 2min after sitting down while she was using the yellow hard scrubbing sponge, she grazed my ankle multiple times and scratched me enough to bleed a little. It happened because she wasn’t looking at my feet during the process. Even after I said “ouch, you scratched me, please be careful” she did not acknowledge me and kept going. The rest of the treatments (wax, stone, and lotion) were fine, but again, Rose was not attentive at all, so I consistently I had to say “ouch, it’s too hot, can you wait a little”. She was also on her phone while she put a hot wax bag over my feet.
I’m not a picky person and not expecting fancy spa level service. While I was there, I was really nice about everything, didn’t complain, and even ended up tipping Rose. But after I left, I felt like I should have said something while I was there and gave more feedback about my experience + showed them my scar. The whole experience ended being more stressful than relaxing.
Anyways, lesson learned. Speak up ASAP when you have a bad experience, at least maybe the manager can change...
