If you are looking for the worst service in Seattle and mediocre food at an outrageous cost, this is your place. I have tried this place on multiple occasions and each encounter is worst than the last. With fruit flies in the pastry case and coffee that is barely drinkable, and an exploded tea bag which was not replaced even though you could see the pieces floating, it is no longer worth my time or money.
My main complaint is with the staff. On one occasion I was shoved and pushed into multiple times by the short blue haired employee, without an excuse me or apology. It felt incredibly directed and was unnecessary with the space in the area. This interaction was also received with dirty looks and no smile at the counter when she eventually took my order. I’ve had other issues with the taller male staff member. He was incredibly rude to my mother and inferred that we were not smart enough to understand our order or the product. Along with this, we waited forever as he proceeded to serve us with dirty looks and an attitude. As someone who has worked as a barista and the service industry, this would have never happened. The only saving grace for the service is the very lovely woman making the food in the back and a very kind young woman with dark long brown hair working the kiosk.
I hope this place can get it together as it does have potential. I am hesitant to return after all of these...
Read moreThis Scandinavia inspired coffee roastery and bakery cafe in Queen Anne has an excellent atmosphere, it looks both modern and cozy. The wooden-look walls and sleek black granite counters are accompanied by lush green house plants and warm overhead lights. The cafe looks exuberant on a sunny day and reassuring when it rains outside.
Cafe Hagen roasted beans and makes a good latte, but I'm here mostly for their croissants. These croissants are lookers. Their layer edges are dense and crispy, in three main folds that create the diamond shape, one that is not too slender or smooth. A croissant with such a gorgeous look is guaranteed flaky. It smells and tastes good too, I like everything about it except that the texture is a little thicker than what I think is optimal.
I've also tried their other pastries like the Director's Snail (Hagen's version of chocolate croissant) and the chocolate rum ball. Both are so heavenly for chocolate lovers like me. Their breakfast sandwich isn't a big one but tastes super fresh and I appreciate that it's made to order rather than pre-packaged like many other places.
Always enjoyed my mornings at the pleasantly decorated cafe, and my only wish is for them to have some / more seats. I see that a small outdoor...

I've gone to a lot of coffee shops from TX to CA to OR to WA. Usually you can get good third wave espresso at the very third-wave-y places that kind of all end up looking and feeling the same. This place has personality; it has character. It feels familiar; it feels like home. It has Scandinavian pastries, passionate staff, and delicious food items (HUGE plus!! Most cafes only have pastries).
I tried two of their Single-Origin espressos and a brie-prosciutto toast. The first espresso (Nicaraguan) I had was balanced and well-pulled but I wasn't in love. The fact that they had so many options, though, was too enticing to not try, so of course I had to get another :) I loved the second one, which I believe was called Pink Bourbon. It seems they get regular changeups in their beans and I might've just grabbed the last bag of this! The toast was phenomenal. All the ingredients were in perfect harmony and in well-balanced ratios. The sweetness of the honey pairing with the nuttiness of the brie, on a weirdly thick but seriously addictive seedy bread, topped with a very generous helping of prosciutto and dressed arugula.
Aight I'm done drooling and you're done reading go...
