This is the actual office area where Bill and Melinda Gates work for their foundation, and they have a separate building called Discovery Center which they have opened to the public.
The center has displays of the various projects that the Gates Foundation has supported and how it impacted the target population it had intended to help.
It also has a display on how they evaluate projects that are applying for funding, as well as the problem to solutions process - a very good template to apply even in our personal life.
After visiting this place, I have been inspired to give back because it made me realize that no matter how poor I am, I am still more fortunate than most of the people in our planet.

Because I have visited the center, I became more interested in the Gates Foundation, I have recently found out that they are managing at least $50 billion of funding, and they make sure that they get good returns in the projects. They are not just doling out money to the groups they have agreed to fund, but they also make sure that the end benefit improves the lives of the target population they are...
Read moreI visited the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation in seattle. I was kindly greeted by the people behind the desk upon entrance. The room seemed to be broken into 5 main sections. The first section is called voices. This section mostly showed statistics and information on various things, such as how the foundation has impacted the world, the foundation's goals, portraits, ect. Most things in this room were interactive in some way, which I found very neat. The second room talks about the history of the Gates family and why they started this foundation. The next room called partnerships talks about partners of the gates foundation and how they help the gates foundation,The fourth room, the theater played movies clips and documentaries based on various programs the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation are doing throughout the world. These clips range from 5 to 20 minutes long and pack a lot of information. The last room is called innovation and inspiration this room shows ideas and projects centered around helping others. One example of an interesting innovation is a toilet that requires the user to squat to use it and recycles water used to flush. Overall this museum is very Informative...
Read moreTL;DR - very interactive and interesting visitors center. Can't go wrong for free admission!
The visitors center is located right across from the EMP parking lot. Definitely try and get street parking, it's much cheaper.
The visitors center is small but informative. It takes about 20 minutes to get through. It is split into sections focusing on the foundation, their history, their areas of work and grants they have given. They have short films showing as well. There are daily tours at 2pm. The staff is friendly and very knowledgable about the center.
Great spot to learn about their work. They also have a few activities for kids, but the bulk is just reading and exploring. I would recommend it for teenagers and older.
They have a list of places to intern around the area as well located...
