If I could give 0 stars, I would. Avoid the Geek Squad like your time and money depend on it, because they do. I booked a 2 pm Sunday appointment in September through Apple for an iPhone battery replacement. It took the (entirely incompetent) employee at the desk 45 minutes just to check me in, while I waited in a crowded store, worried about the people moving and waiting around me (one of whom took off her mask to talk on the phone). He was unable to use any of the systems on the computers he was using, and kept asking someone else for help. Finally, I was told it would take a couple of hours to install. I got no e-mail, so headed back at 5:30, and later found out I got an e-mail at 5:45 saying it was ready, when the store closes at 6:00.
Three weeks later the battery had swollen and pushed out the screen. I went back and was told I would have to wait to speak to someone about the botched repair as I didn't have an appointment, and "I'm the only one at the desk". Half an hour later I got someone's attention and was asked to wait again while more paperwork was done requiring a signature; I decided to leave as I had already signed paperwork in September. Later that day, my phone was sent to Apple, without asking my permission. Luckily I had a backup. The one thing they did right was to take out the SIM card, which I then went back to pick up.
Fast forward to a few days ago; I was without my phone for 16 days. During that time, the "agent" at Best Buy who sent my phone to Apple didn't answer two e-mails sent to him, with copies to his co-workers/managers, asking for information. The phone was eventually received by Best Buy, and the only way I knew this was to call Apple and ask them to track it. These people think customer relations means yelling at people waiting in line and telling them that they can't be helped without an appointment. On my last (and I mean last) visit there, the same guy was yelling at an old lady, telling her that although she had an appointment at 1:20, it was now 1:45, he was the only one there and really busy, and he couldn't help her. During that 16 days I caved in and bought I new phone, which cost me dearly, but the thing I regret the most is the time spent waiting for nothing in Best Buy, and the hours I spent on the phone with Apple trying to sort out the mess Best Buy had caused by sending my phone in for a battery repair, when the problem was the 'accidental damage' caused by their botched repair. If you value your time and money, go somewhere else. Best Buy still has $50 of my money, which I deeply regret paying them; Apple...
Read moreGeez, where's the option to give 0 zero stars? Let's start from the beginning. I woke up on a Friday and noticed a strange white line across my Samsung phone. Never dropped my phone or cracked the screen. So I went to this Best Buy and stood in line only to be approached by this guy from Geek Squad who told me that I would have to wait an hour since there were other walk-ins. (Maybe not everyone knows or cares to make an appointment these days). I was willing to do that since he said he was the only one working that morning. He then asked what was the problem and I told him what was going on but this guy completely shut me down by telling me that "We don't fix Samsung phones here, only Apple". He seemed as though he didn't care enough to help me, I guess because there were other people ahead of me? Well upon further research, I went through Samsung online and was given a list of different places locally who are affiliated with Samsung and have genuine Samsung parts in order to fix my phone. Sure enough, this location came up as one that CAN fix my phone. Luckily, I found someone else who IS willing to help me since my phone is still under warranty. Due to this situation, you just lost a potential customer and I wouldn't recommend doing business with...
Read moreThis happened some time ago, however, after reading the current reviews, I feel compelled to share my experience with the Geek Squad and Best Buy. The cashier at the customer service was refunding money paid for Geek Squad work. She asked if I wanted to pay for my merchandise there as opposed to go through the store checkout line. I used my debit card and the items were paid for. The receipt did not print out due to a lack of paper. The clerk said to proceed outside and she would vouch for the the fact I had paid. Keep in mind I had 1. My best buy reward points that proved I had paid plus my debit card transaction. I approached the security dude and showed him my items and mentioned that customer service will tell him I had paid in full. Without warning, the security dud snatch my bag of items and walked away. This is actually "robbery by sudden snatching." as the items now belong to me. I had to wait until they reviewed the security tape before I was able to get my purchase back. I did make sure I protested loud and long. Full disclosure...this was some time ago but remains in my mind as I was a great customer until...
