We arrived at 9:30 PM and all was quiet. It's a great hotel just a few hundred feet from the interstate without the highway noise. The hotel public areas were clean and presentable, no overflowing garbage cans out front. The desk clerk was friendly and welcoming. Room 105 was perfect.
Believe or not at around 10:30 I took note of a mechanical grinding, scraping or was it digging sound emanating from where I could not discern. I thought maybe the elevator, but the was too far away, the gym, no that's too far off as well from the room. What could it be?
It's now 0130 in the morning I sitting in bed reading, still the sound persists every few minutes right on time. One can't help but focus on the sound emanating from God knows where, the rest of the hotel is quiet accept for this sound, what could it be I ask myself. I'll get down to the bottom of this in the morning I say to myself I shut the lights off and finally fell asleep.
Well it's morning and I inquired at the front desk asking about this mechanical sound, scraping, possibly digging, God knows what . The three ladies at the desk are looking at me suspiciously, in disbelief even. They reply almost in unison we've never had a complaint of noise , are you sure there wasn't a large truck out back. Then there is an awkward silence, like you are standing in an elevator with strangers and trying not to pass gas. Okay I say and slowly walk away.
After breakfast I decided I'm going to go to the back of the hotel where my room faces. I'm thinking maybe I'll find it air conditioning unit or something that could be causing this noise. Lo and behold I discover there is a cemetery right behind the hotel so close you can smell the flowers. Could it be that these noises were coming from the great beyond or is it an air conditioning unit, or some other mechanical item from the upper floor that needs maintenance. That's for you to decide if you dare stay...
Read moreWorst Holiday Inn Hotel we have ever stayed at. First problem: When we arrived the parking lot was full with the exception of the ev vehicle spots. We didn’t want to take those spots as someone may need them. Asked the front desk and they replied with park wherever, they were “too tired to fight with the trucks parked wrong and if an ev vehicle showed up they should have come earlier”. Second: walked into our hotel room (314) and it reeked of cigarette smoke. Upon further entrance it looked a little run down. Outdated we can do however the curtains were dirty, the air filter in the ac unit was coated in dust and dirt grime and the bathroom smelled of mildew and poop and the wall had mold and water damage. Outdated sure you can stay in that mold and dirty ac filters are NOT safe. Third: went down to the front desk to inquire about a room change. Same front desk staff who was too tired to deal with parking told us they had no other rooms available, their manager wouldn’t be in until the morning and if we wanted a resolution tonight and didn’t want to stay in the room we could just leave. Fourth: just leaving means we are out our points and money (this was a reward night with cash and points as a platinum member) and we would have to pay to stay somewhere else. Solution: WE had to call IHG directly and talk to customer relations to get them to refund us so we could go across the parking lot to the Fairfield inn because by now it was late, we were tired and didn’t want to go farther than necessary to sleep. We absolutely do not recommend this hotel and would not...
