I travel a LOT for business and stay in tons of hotels all over the world, but this stay in the Tifton Spring Hill Suites while visiting family was something special! As soon as we walked in, we felt welcomed by hotel staff. Our room was immediately ready, even though we arrived. Earlier than official check in time. We headed up to our room and were so delighted at the modern and thoughtful design of this immaculately clean Room! When we returned to the hotel after a great Thanksgiving day with our family, my daughter, husband, and I relaxed in the family area and watched some football together before retiring to the bedroom area. I loved feeling like we had two rooms in one!! When it was time for sleeping, we were able To climb into cozy comfy beds and linens. We slept like babies!! In the morning, the breakfast was FANTASTIC! Seriously! None of this 3 pieces of toast and old fruit stuff you usually see. There were delicious and fresh eggs, (scrambled and hard boiled), oatmeal, grits, juices, coffee, cheeses, pastries, a waffle station... you name it, it was there... AND FRESH AND CLEAN AND PLENTIFUL!! The staff were great (the breakfast lady even brought my daughter her own bowl of grits... how sweet!!) and the entire place is thoughtfully laid out. Oh! And the next time we come, we’ll bring marshmallows to roast over the outdoor fire pit! (It was November, so we didn’t make use of the pool... but when we come back in the summer, we’ll definitely make use of that, too!!!). Really a great stay. I wish all hotels...
Read moreBrand new location. Quieter than expected given its proximity to the interstate. Still a lot of construction in the area so in site parking was a challenge. It took about 29 minutes to find a place to park, we then went inside to ask where to park and were instructed to park in the neighboring lot. I would imagine this is a temporary situation but a big inconvenience nonetheless as it was a long walk in the rain to get back to the hotel. We arrived late at night so waited about 15 minutes for someone to get to the front desk to check us in. By the time an employee arrived, there was a line of 4 parties, all of which had been waiting almost as long as we had been. Again, this may be temporary if they are just staffing up but coverage is something the operator might consider if not already. The room was clean, roomy and comfortable. It could have easily slept 4....a couple in the main bed and two on the couch, which is actually a trundle. Breakfast was included and still served, even in covid times, which surprised us a bit. However, the staff had a good system to keep folks moving and fed. They had signage with what the options were, a counter set up to place the order and then they did the plating for you and passed it off, thereby reducing exposure and still getting you just what you like. We’ve had to travel more than most during covid due to our jobs and this hotel’s staff did the breakfast service...
Read moreLet me start this off by saying I am Retired Military and Lifetime Platinum Elite and have stayed hundreds of nights in Marriott properties at the government rate.
The hotel itself was fine. However, they did not honor the government rate that I had confirmed through the Bonvoy App. We were travelling so we were booking at the front desk. I asked for a Military rate and she quoted me $140ish price. I told her I could get the rate for $123 on the App, so she told me to go ahead and book that. When I check my bill a couple days later, they charged me a rate of $193. I call to dispute the charges and they tell me I wasn't authorized the government rate since I was not on official travel. The problem is, nobody told me that when we checked in. They never asked if I was on official travel or told me I wasn't eligible for that rate - they just billed me the higher rate. If they had, I would have stayed at a different hotel. I have stayed at Marriott properties and never been denied the military rate when it is available. That said, I am not necessarily upset that I didn't get the rate, I am upset that the never told me they weren't going to honor it then charged me the higher rate. The General Manager states I was told I did not qualify for the rate - that is simply not true. As I mentioned above, the clerk told me to book the cheaper government...
