Southern Spirits Tifton — Local services in Tifton

Traveling through town and was recommended by a friend. Of course, this is my very first time visiting this store. My first impression of this place, not so good. This place has a good overall selection of bourbon. Their prices seem fair, some just a slight higher markup. As I was looking at their bourbon selection, an associate is having a long drawn out conversation about different bourbons and was making recommendations to someone on the same aisle, which is cool and all. But this associate without saying excuse me or pardon me, just comes up and stands in front of me to point out some bourbons to the other individual. I’m like “Are you kidding me, right now.” You talk about completely rude, so I said “excuse me” and moved down the aisle, did the associate say anything?? Absolutely not. I also asked to speak with the manager as I was seriously about to making a purchase from their glass case. I spoke to the manager but he said to give him a minute as he was helping another customer. I waited and waited…. He walked by me after he was done, helped another customer and just completely blew off. The service here was completely horrible! This was a terrible first impression. I travel through the area a few times a year, guess what… it won’t be this place. Best advice I can give anyone thinking of doing business here, stop and go to your local mom and pop liquor store. I traveling a bit for work, and the travels always bring me to Tifton about 3-4 times per year.

I guess up until recently, I assume the area was dry as there were never any liquor stores in town.

Anyway, this place opened recently and is right nearby the hotel where I stay (convenient).

As a Bourbon fanatic, I am always on the look out for those illusive Sazerac products (Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Colonel EH Taylor, Weller, etc). I seriously hate the allocation thing they have going on. You're even limited to one bottle at the distillery.

I'd give up on them and stick with other brands, if they weren't some of my favorite ones.

But I digress, this location is clean, well stocked, friendly, and even had 2...yes 2 of my favorites on hand.

Grabbed an Eagle and a Weller on this visit...also stopped at the nearby Adcock Pecans to get some goodies to go with the Bourbons.

I look forward to my return...

Overall great store. Prices are pretty good on most things. Some of the Bourbon/Rye "allocated' items seemed priced high but some of that is the distributor's fault. Oddly, they have Whistlepig Piggy Back 6 year rye listed for $84.99 Which is closer to the price of the 10 year whistlepig (I can actually buy the 10 year for 79 in albany). Other places carry it for 44.99 so maybe someone messed up typing in the price.

But they had a wide selection of stuff that can be hard to find without ordering online. Best store in Tifton so far and better than most stores in Valdosta, Moultrie, Fitzgerald, and Cordele. They now have all of Smoke Wagon’s bourbons, Frey Ranch bourbon and Rye and many others.

The whiskey isles need to be organized again because I didn't really see any logic to it, no separation of Bourbon, Rye, American Malts and Japanese whiskey or grouping...
