What an outdated place! I felt like I spent three days in a 30+ year old motel! Pictures you see are not what reality presents. The beach is in a long walking distance, which we didn't mind. Although we had a good sunset view from the balcony, there is a new building construction going on next door. Lots of noise coming from the site from early morning and lasting all day. If you think of doing a work conference call while sitting outside, forget about it! The noise is really bad. Our bedrooms were not facing the water, unfortunately. In fact, they were directly facing this depressing construction site with the noise. There is no desk or work area so combining work with leisure was a challenge. Bedding is horrible. Master bedroom mattress was scquiqing with every move and was so soft that I had feeling that I am floating on a water bed, waking up evey few minutes catching the waive! We couldn't sleep well at all! There are stains on the draperies in the master bedroom and massive filthy yellow stains on the pillows that I discovered while setting up the sofa bed. Furniture is pretty old and depressing. Ceilings are 7 feet high in most of the unit. Being an average height we could easily reach the ceiling. For me it was simply depressing. Bathrooms are as outdated as the rest of the place with plastic shower units and old rusted shelves. Towels are so old that I was thankful we brought our own. Kitchen has a bare minimum. Prepare to bring everything as you will only get a couple of small packs of sugar, couple packs of coffee, and a couple of dishwashing tables. There were no room service. If you are thinking of using kitchen to cook, just know that AC will be blowing directly to your back and neck. As a result, I barely can move now due to back pain. We locked ourselves out by accident and waited 45 minutes before manager came to let us back in. Not a big deal, but was somewhat annoying. I just wish I knew what we are walking into so we would entertain an alternative option. Would never come back...
Read moreWe stayed in an older unit on the 3rd floor. It wasn't updated or new but very, very clean. The whole play was old but very clean. There is a bit of noise between floors and from the front hall but we heard nothing thru the sliding glass door where the pool and beach are located. The wifi was very strong and dependable. The front staff was helpful we really liked dealing with Jennifer and we also dealt with the Assistant Manager who were helpful. A could missed opportunities for us was e didn't push to get info on the "for chaos and umbrellas" because when my husband asked about the chairs and umbrellas at the beach we were only told to read the sign on the bulletin board. The manager was on duty at the time and insured of sling about the free ones we just assumed they meant some the pool and were misled. I would have expected to be told that they had free ones behind the door though. The other, we made our reservation through a third party and when we went to extend by one day we were quoted by the third party a price well over $300 for the one night. We should have called direct or asked about it when we checked in and the second cleaning fee would have been removed to make it more feasible. The view, the cleanliness (cleanest old place I've ever stayed) of the rooms and the entire property was impressive, the pool was warm and sparkling. Our bed was super comfiest and the furniture in the front room cozy. There is a full kitchen and our room had a mishmash of kitchenware but it did the trick. The only other issue that we ran into was the distance to the beach and how far it would be to use a restroom. The condo does have one for outdoor use with a code so other's can't use it but it's far if you're older or have an issue walking... we stayed by the pool. The location is perfect for restaurants and John's Pass. The bus picks up across the street on one side and less than a block either way on the same side of the road. We'd love to stay...
Read moreThis could have easily been a 5-🌟 review except for their housekeeping policy, or lack thereof. Thus it is about 3.5 🌟
When I'm on vacation the last thing I want to do is housework. Yes, they have a full-sized washer and dryer. Points for that. No, I was not about to do the laundering of their towels, as I was told when I asked about housekeeping. Subtract points for that. Especially when they provided a small sample-sized box of detergent. I like it when hotels and condo hotels use the big industrial machinery or linens go out to a professional laundry service. The housekeeper said she only cleans the rooms after guests check-out. How funny. Excuse me? 😡 Thus daily we had to wait or chase down the housekeeping cart to get towels, kitchen towels, trash bags, paper towels, tissues, etc.
In all my years of travel, business and personal I'd never seen nor heard of such a thing. Overnight stays, understandable; but over 2 nights they need to service the room or at least ask if you would like service. The front desk knows how long you are staying. And you have to take out your trash and you have to do trash and recyclables. Just like being at home, again I'm on vacation. They have a white trash can and a green trash can under the sink, if I use those cans accordingly, why can't trash pickup be a part of servicing the room? Yes I'm still lobbying for the room to be serviced. Yes, I had to run the dishwasher, which should be optional, not because I had to.
They get off cheap by refilling the hand soap, shampoo, conditioner dispensers, you have no idea what products they are using. Bring your own. I always do.
For the most part it is relatively quiet
South Beach Condos, they do "ok", but they could step it up, particularly with the rates they charge per night. Their rates are far from being free and...
