"Where genuine care is always there" says that on every room key! That should be changed to "If you are not our nationality or share the same beliefs, we don't care about you" Upon being asked, i did write a quick nice review. But it needed revised. So let's start off by saying they have a cockroach problem, it's really bad and should be addressed but they would have to care in order to do that. We have stayed in plenty of hotels that make sure bugs are not a thing in their hotel. This sadly isn't one of those. The biggest review changer here is Praveen and Mohini they have the worst customer service. We are here with a crew from a nationwide company and it's Boss Man's birthday today! Boss man happens to be my little brother so yesterday I asked the manager and assistant manager if it was ok to decorate in the conversation when they asked me to write a review. They gave the ok so the kiddos and I decorated my brother's door added note that said "please join us in wishing Tommy a happy birthday" with a small box of crayons and some markers taped to it so other guests could sign and enjoy the day with us. How exciting right? Especially since we are so far from home (Michigan) and he works 3rd shift. So he came back this morning and saw it, absolutely loved it. I swear he teared up but he'll tell you otherwise. Anyway, he went to sleep and woke up less than 5 hours later to it gone. Everything gone. Only to find it ripped up into pieces and crumpled up in the trash room. We took it down stairs and asked front desk about it. Who happened to be the manager. Without hesitation, almost proudly he said he took it down. "Its against policy." He said he called but he knew Tommy was sleeping so he took it down because it is against policy. I asked what policy and that I wanted to see it. He avoided the question then when i asked who his boss was he directed my brother to email the district manager. All he kept saying was its against policy. The manager told me he is not talking to me he is talking to him, (addressing my brother) belittled me and took my voice away. He treated me like I am less of a human than he is and showed absolutely no remorse for ripping up my brothers gift. None what so ever. Simply told him if he has a problem he can email the district manager. It was the absolute worst customer service we've EVER recieved from a manager of all people. I called the district manager who's number i did not get until after the manager had the chance to tell his side of the story. She had slightly better customer service was kind offered her sincerest appolgys and said that she will swing by this week to hand deliver my brother a gift for his birthday. Which she did not. She did say it is policy as well though, and that if we want to decorate we can inside the room. Just not outside of the room. So i had mentioned how it's just odd to me that it's a policy as we have been able to do this at many other hotels and i asked where is this written policy. She then let me know that there are so many policies they can't all be written. so what I learned in that conversation is that this is a made up policy one that isn't even in writing ANYWHERE.. My brother's birthday gift, his property was maliciously damaged, destroyed, defaced and threw away like it was nothing. First time in 12 years that we've been able to do something like this for such a wonderful, hard working, blue collared, man, brother, uncle, friend, son.... and they deliberately with absolutely no remorse destroyed it! What kind of decent human being does this?! I can't believe this is being allowed. We plan to let everyone who we recommended this place to know of this experience. It was heartbreaking. On the upside, the assistant manager had much better customer service as well as the housekeeping lady. She's a wonderful woman, always has a smile on her face and brightens the day of anyone who passes her. The maintenance man is so sweet, caring and kind as well. The room is nice sized, kitchen, cupboards, full sized refrigerator. Beautiful pool, but...
Read moreI never write reviews, and I never ever complain about anything--but I truly feel I should for this hotel from hell! Go stay at the other hotels in the area, they are brand new and beautiful! Nice staff, and very clean unlike Extended Stay Union City.
My experience was the worst hotel experience I have ever had at any hotel, and we travel very often all over the world. The rooms are absolutely disgusting, old, and insanely dirty. Not livable at all, and certainly not for what you pay. We would have left sooner but decided to give the place a chance, especially since we already moved in our children and luggage so leaving would have been a hassle (but we still left anyway). The beds are tiny, we barely got sleep from how uncomfortable these beds are. They are the size of a twin, definitely not a double. The sheets, pillows, and blankets are all old and stained up. The mattress has urine stains on it. Trash from the previous guest was found under the beds, there are spiders in the room, the rugs have never been shampooed so don't even think about walking barefoot! In fact, you can literally see a thick layer of dust sitting on top of the carpet! Gross. We had to go out to buy bleach and clean the entire room ourselves, even the bathroom--that's how disgusting this place is! You walk in and no one ever greets you or even looks at you, it's as if they don't want anyone staying there at all! The clerks are never at the front during the night, if you need a key past 11pm go wait an hour like we did. When they issue a key they don't ask for ID, anyone can get access to your room. The entire hotel reeks of smoke, and all the luggage carts are always broken. The majority of the guests who stay here are drug addicts who linger outside the hotel. And their wifi is so awful, you won't use it at all! They might as well have NO wifi at all!
I could list all my ordeals at this hotel, but I will just say, STAY AWAY. They don't care about customer relations at all, they talk and treat you like garbage. Actually, worse than garbage. They make it seem as if they are PAYING YOU to stay with them, not the other way around! They truly have no clue on how to run a hotel. NEWS FLASH: If you treat customers like garbage, they will spread the word and eventually no one will want to stay with you! That's why this hotel is always empty, while the Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, and even crowne plaza around the corner are always booked up. Never bite the hand that feeds you!! Customer is always first, please retrain your staff on how to interact with guests. Teach them how to always accommodate the guest and solve THEIR needs, not your own. Hire KIND people. Telling me you don't "have time to do it, call in the morning, ok?" Isn't ok. Especially when I am paying $200 a night. The 3rd night the housekeeper knocked on our door at 8:45am to ask if we need towels. What hotel does that? It's completely senseless, and they woke up my husband and kids. The GM could...
Read moreI stayed at the Union City extended stay America last night and had a terrible experience. I booked a room for my partner and myself so we could have a quiet, restful evening on his 40th birthday. I understand that the extended stay is not geared towards celebratory getaways but I at least expected to be able to get a good nights sleep and also a certain level of professionalism. When we arrived there were people working on several rooms on our floor, pulling out the heating/air conditioning units. This only continued for a short while after we arrived but I also discovered a notice in the room stating that a pest control company would be doing inspections in the morning and I should be prepared to have my room open for them. I was not informed when I checked in that there would be any sort of renovations going on during my stay or that I would be expected to allow access to my room in the morning for pest control inspection. I was more disheartened when I checked the other floors and found out the heating units were only being serviced on my floor. Furthmore there was loud stomping or banging around of some sort from the room above us from around midnight to 6 am, this and a dripping shower faucet made us unable to rest during the hours there was not renevations going on, but the heater unit repairs started right back up in the morning, once again only on the 3rd floor. When I checked out I asked to tell the manger about this and was told he was busy. My partner explained our situation to the assistant manager who seemed fairly dismissive of the issues and pointed out that there was a note in the rooms about the pest control inspections, ignoring the fact that the heater unit renovations were not mentioned anywhere or at any time. My partner became extremely frustrated with the situation and had to go out to the car and I stood there expecting an apology or attempt to make it right but was ignored by the assistant manager and other employee behind the desk as they went to assist the next customer. In my opinion we should have been informed at the time of check in that there would be renovations happening and I expected a more professional and empathetic response from...
