I called in April 2021 to make a four-day reservation for us for July 2021 and spoke with a staff person who was able to let me know which rooms we had stayed in for the previous fourteen years, so she was aware we were long-time guests at their establishment. She did not mention that in less than a week her family would close on the sale of this hotel and its sister the Aztec. When we arrived we sensed immediately that the old owners were gone, along with all their old--fashioned touches that gave American Safari a feeling of pride and caring. The new desk person was most welcoming and pleasant but it wasn't the same and we felt betrayed that the previous owners had booked our reservations back in April, all the time knowing that by May they would no longer be there and not telling us a thing. ||||That was just the start of the changes. The previous owners were meticulous in their upkeep, the gentleman who cleaned the pool and property was almost OCD in a good way. Unaware that these standards were no longer in effect I took off my shoes and walked across our hotel room floor barefoot shortly after checking in. I could feel the grit and checked my feet they were completely black. The first night all was quiet but the next day a large group of adults and children checked in to three nearby rooms. They were loud, commandeered poolside furniture for themselves outside their rooms, and making no effort to try and modulate their or their children's voices, shouting as loudly as if they were at their own private resort. For example they made no attempt as they sat outside in the common area to comfort or quiet one toddler whose screaming fit lasted twenty minutes. We left for dinner but when we returned later, after 10:30 pm we discovered their children raising ruckus in the pool, which is supposed to be closed by 8 pm. We had a poolside room so it was quite disturbing. We walked over to the office and registered a complaint and the desk clerk was very cooperative and contacted them by phone. However one of the adults in this group, very visibly drunk by this time, approached us as we returned to our room and verbally attacked us for complaining, blaming us (both senior citizens) for keeping his children from enjoying their vacation. If we didn't like noise we should have booked a room on the second or third floor, he told us, even though the upper floors are accessible only by stairs. His snarling manner was most disturbing and we decided we were no longer comfortable having this group as neighbors. In the morning we packed up and requested and received a refund for the two nights we would no longer be staying there. We later realized they were perhaps so accommodating since current online prices on Expedia for the very room we had rented were now going for more than twice the rate we paid of $225. ||BTW there are no electric outlets in the bathroom, there is no top sheet on the bed, ie between the blanket and the bottom sheet, I never saw anyone clean the pool or adjust the chemicals (although they may have but there were candy wrappers etc. on the deck), the wifi signal is virtually nonexistent, the parking spaces are extremely narrow. I must say though that the desk staff were very very nice and we felt bad complaining to them. None of this was their fault. And there were many guests who were pleasant and had been coming for years. I have a feeling all that is going to change now that ruffians are being allowed to take over and chase out the...
Read moreWe have been visiting the Wildwooods for years and this motel is average at best.||Observations in no particular order-||Room was clean.||Room was small for 6 ppl, definitely on the smaller side compared to other motels.||Pool is very small but clean.||Had to unplug microwave to use the coffee maker/ toaster due to lack of outlets.||Table with 6 chairs in kitchen but no room to pull out the chairs.||AC unit in both front and back rooms.||4 Towels for a reservation of 6 ppl.||Wifi is completely non-existent. ||Room requested at time of reservation was stated to be unavailable yet was empty the entire stay. ||Paid peak preminum prices, yet the hotel was at 90% vacancy.||Inquired about extending the stay an additional day- during which time the employee at the front desk left me standing there as she processed 3 cancelations- Employee quoted me a higher price than my previous 5 nights after stating the room was available. When I asked for consideration regarding the price I was told, "We are getting more cancelations than reservations, that's the price so I can pass it on to the manager Adam but he will tell you the same thing", then she blew me off...||Never heard from Adam and we checked out after booking a room elsewhere for the additional day...||One of the poorest examples of customer service I have ever experienced.||Property was clean-||Employees need a lesson in customer service and the lack of response from management...
Read moreSo I decided to stay in the crest this year because my favorite place the condor was booked so we stayed at the American saferi I had a total of 6 people with me , 4 adults 2 children. the cons of this place were higher then the pros. to start off when we arrived we noticed that the bathroom was VERY VERY VERY small , could not even get dressed in there. there was no tub for my young son to enjoy a bath , we had ONLY 3 towels but we had a total of 6 PEOPLE with us. there was tvs in each bedroom ( we had two bedrooms) but they we're outdated and very small. the living room tv was very fuzzy. there was no broom to sweep up the floors everything was hard wood floors , with children you need a broom to sweep up the messes. no air conditioner in one of the bedrooms. the shower from when you return from the beach was ICE cold no way to change it to warm. The doors in the rooms kept getting jammed shut as to where my neice got stuck inside of the bathroom! Other guests were beyond rude. Claims that you can smoke there but there was NO ash trays anywhere ( we had 3 smokers with our party ) Pool was very small. the ONLY pros of this place where that the ONE bedroom was beautiful, the place did have a dishwasher, you where aloud to use the other sister hotels pools ( the gondolier was the only one with a decent sized pool ). Over all , I would not recommend this...
