For the past 3 years I have stayed at The Gondolier while attending our annual Church conference at the Convention Center. Each of the 3 times I stayed there, Adam (the owner) and his staff were extremely accommodating and helpful from booking to checkout. The facility is very well maintained with an abundance of pride taken in the cleanliness of the grounds and rooms. They seemed to have upgraded many things, including new flat screen televisions and air conditioners. The rooms are always sufficiently stocked with towels, blankets etc. The Gondolier is located within walking distance of the Boardwalk and just a few yards from a pier that spans almost the entire width of the beach. This pier is beautiful and ideal for walking, meditation and exercising. One unique quality of The Gondolier is their Security Guard, Joe. He is mainly there in the evening and overnight, reminds me a bit of Peter Faulk (Columbo). He is super friendly and goes out of his way to help anyone who is in need or in search of local attractions. He loves his hometown and it shows in how he knows everything and every place that is worth your time to visit. I absolutely love The Gondolier and will continue to patronize this business every time I visit Wildwood. The only complaint (and it's really not even a complaint... more like a preference & suggestion) I have is to have an alarm clock in each room. The first year I had one and the last 2 years it was not part of the room. Otherwise, staying here is a delight. Family oriented and extremely professional making you feel like a member of the family. Thanks Adam as well as your staff for a wonferful stay. See you...
Read moreFrom the minute we checked in we felt uncomfortable. First they said the room was a 3 room suite well the third room was the kitchen. The room had a private room with a door that we could not close because there was only one air conditioner in the room so the private bedroom was not private. Then they accused us of smoking on the property and not one person smokes cigarettes and that’s what we were accused of. The toilet leaked and flooded the floor and 3 times they came to fix it. There were multiple people smoking on the property but nothing was said to them only to us. The ceiling fans made loud noises and we had to tap on them to make the noise go away. We were told the room was pool side nobody said that this room was right next to the guests washer and dryer which was all rusted also it was next to the maintenance room and across from the cleaning ladies stock rooms and the trash cans. This room was a definite after thought and was put here just to make money. The outlets wouldn’t hold anything and were very old. When we checked into the room my daughter in law just happened to find an Advil right under the bed and my 11 month old grandson could have found it and taken it on accident. We have been coming to wildwood for 20 years and this is the worst motel we have ever stayed in and would not ever...
Read moreUPDATE 7/25: We stayed again this time in 314 which was much more modern/updated than last time. Room was clean, had a larger fridge and 3 lamps. AC and shower were great. Bed was comfortable. I'm going to bump my review up one star. The cleaning crew is really hardworking and on top of things.
THIS IS MY PREVIOUS REVIEW FROM 2024:
Motel is very close to the beach and had adequate parking. Common areas are well kept. There are grills in the pool area for guest use.
But, my issue is with our room (#321). The GFI outlet in the bathroom was cracked/broken and not working. I think this is a safety issue and my wife wasn't happy about not using her hair dryer. I texted the front desk about the GFI but got no response. The shelf next to the sink is loose/coming off the wall. There is only ONE lamp in the room and it is not controlled by the wall switch. We had to walk into a dark room. The freezer compartment in the small fridge had a large block of ice and I had to defrost it before we could use it. While the room was clean, taken together, these things indicate a lack of maintenance. Other rooms we stayed in past had similar but minor issues. Fortunately, we spend most of our time at the beach and not...
