Tried to book a last minute get-a-way at the Gondolier. They were booked, but was offered to stay at Buttercup Suites. There are (4) sister properties. Gondolier, American Safari, Aztec and Buttercup Suites. ||Hospitality is great! Morning coffee and cookies in the morning.||The Buttercup is located behind the Aztec. You have a small porch to sit on and to leave all your beach junk on. No need to put it back in the car or in the room. There is a sitting area behind the house with tables, grill, loungers and a shower. Assigned parking, so no trouble getting a parking space.||You can use any of the pools, but we used the Aztec pool as it is the closest. Water was so warm. :) It is not a large pool, but there was never a lot of people there. No trouble with getting a chair. So no playing the towel game like I saw at other hotels. (I did see other hotels where people were putting their towels on the chairs at 7:00 am)||The room consists of a living/dining/kitchen area which was of decent size. The table seats 6. Sofa bed which my son said was not that comfortable. Two bedrooms with a queen in each room. The beds were very hard, but after a long day at the beach, I slept like a log.||Now the disappointing part. The bathroom. It is very small! The shower was approx 2 1/2 ft X 2 1/2 ft. I became a professional contortionist while staying here. I dropped the soap on the shower floor and just stared at it, because I was not sure how to bend over to pick it up. There should be a warning, because if you are overweight, chances are your shower is going to take place in the ocean as there is no way you are going to fit.||Housekeeping did a great job and the room was always clean. ||Floors are all laminate, which kinda stinks as you really have to make sure your feet are clean or you will have sand all over the place.||Other than the bathroom, we really did enjoy our stay here and would not hesitate to come back. Would have given 5 stars if the...
Read morePros: Great location, clean and comfortable rooms, use of Aztec/American Safari facilities, reasonable rates.||Cons: Tiny shower, front rooms would benefit from air conditioning.||||If you need more than a motel room or efficiency unit, the Buttercup Suites has you covered. Because it's owned by the same folks as the Aztec and American Safari on the next block, you get the same friendly and reliable service as well as use of their two pools.||||Our unit had two bedrooms (each with a queen bed) as well as a living room with a fold-out bed- perfect for our group. There was also a kitchenette with a full-sized fridge- a welcome touch. The bathroom had been recently remodeled, but that didn't remedy the small shower. It's probably worth noting there isn't a tub, as is the case in most Wildwood motel rooms. It's also worth noting the building only has four units, so it's very quiet.||||The beds were comfortable, parking was easy (each unit has two assigned spaces), and the location close to the beach and boardwalk couldn't be any better. Despite the spacious accommodations, rates were very reasonable (something common to its sister properties, which is one of the reasons why we love them).||||Complaints are minor, like window blinds that don't do a great job of blocking the morning sun, and a living room (third bedroom) that would benefit from another air conditioning unit (the two bedrooms had small window units that don't do much for the one room without A/C).||||It's far from the most luxurious place on the island, but Buttercup works well if you need space...
Read moreI had an extremely positive experience during my stay here. Though the kitchenette was small, it had most the necessities, except a corkscrew to get my bottle of wine open....||||It was close enough to the boardwalk to walk/bike and it's a very short walk to the beach.||||The place was very clean and we were supplied with an abundance of clean towels. We enjoyed using the grill and were impressed with the cleanliness of the grilling area and the grill itself. ||||My only suggestion would be to add an extra shelf in the bathroom for guests to store their beauty supplies.||||I would absolutely stay here again. I had a very...
