Let me first begin by saying I did not stay here! I made a reservation to stay for a last minute family getaway. I arrive for check-in and immediately get an uncomfortable vibe from the female at the front desk (but we are living in Covid induced stressful times) so I proceed to TRY and check in. Was asked for the usual if and payment. Then I was asked how many guest? So I said 7 as I was unable to add my 8year old son to the number of guest when booking. This presents to be a problem in which the young lady turns to the actual management (I’m assuming) to get confirmation as to how to handle this. Sure. Fine. No problem, right? Wrong. First thing this woman says to me is “why didn’t you call before you booked because there obviously was a reason they weren’t allowing you to book more than 6people to a room?” My response was simply because not thinking my 8 year old would’ve been a problematic to shelter with the rest of the family. She then proceeds to ask me about some random man of color and why was he using the bathroom on her property? NOW I’m irritated and annoyed by this unnecessary process in which my money for the room has already been paid, and I am basically being told to get another room (for 1 extra body@an extra 816$ (not a large body at that) pushing me further into irritation with this idea that this man HAS TO have been with me since the ONLY thing him and I had in common was BEING BLACK! She was trying to convince me that my reservation wasn’t for the FAMILY suite that I booked and that I needed to get two “regular rooms” at the same price I was paying for the ONE Family suite!?? After a few more back and forth remarks she insist she just CAN NOT let us stay for the 2 nights and she would do me the favor of a refund minus a fee since she “could have had this room available for another guest” This was a whole process that caused even more confusion AFTER I so called got a refund ruined our family’s weekend get away. The kids were so disappointed and sad to know we drove over 2 hours and had to return home after not being able to even get the next room we found at a very nice establishment closer to the Pier and much nicer staff and so accommodating. The refund process held up funds that wasn’t available for our hopeful stay at another place. This whole thing was a true sad disappointing mess. I’m not one to go around assuming anything about ANYONE, I trust my gut though. I knew I was picking up on an uncomfortable space when I walked in, this was my personal experience never mind the things I observed while there going through all of this. I’m not a fan of having different business practices when you feel like you’re dealing with...
Read moreI've stayed at Wildwood 4 times prior to staying at the Ala Moana, and I can definitely say this is the nicest place yet. Here's a list of some pros and cons my wife and I thought of.
Pros: Beach Proximity: Its 1 block from the beach and a short walk to the start of the popular part of the Boardwalk. Very clean: The grounds and room were exceptionally clean. This is including the pool as well. Spacey: The suites have a great amount of space in terms of Wildwood. They say 6, and 6 could actually work. The room we stayed in had 2 queen beds and a sofa bed within the couch. The kitchen was stocked well with cooking ware and silverware (and dish soap), and the bathroom was as well. Good A/C: Enough said. Goes down to 65, and gets cold QUICK. Nice Pool: Large pool with water that is actually luke warm and not cold or too hot! As said earlier, it's also very clean. Good Parking: The parking seems to be quite good, at least during our stay. There is a little parking garage at each end of the motel. Free WiFi/basic TV: WiFi has fast enough speeds for 4k if you're streaming, and there's basic TV if you just need to chill. Quiet: No noise from other room, but that could of been from having good neighbors. However, there wasn't much noise from the entire place. Family Ran: The owners daughter at the counter was great. Extremely nice and accommodating. She mentioned the place was family ran, which in my books means it's more personal. Love it. Food: This place is close to many good food options, including right next to Little Italy (an amazing Italian resteraunt).
Cons: Motel: Because this is a motel it does not offer any food options, but that's fine because the suites have kitchen setups. We personally like making our own breakfast in the morning with coffee. However, we could this being a con. Elevator/Luggage Ramp: There's just 1 Elevator and it's on one side of the motel, so if your room is on a different floor at the other end it can be sort of tedious to drag your luggage all over. The same goes for the luggage ramp. It's only available in one of the parking garages.
Summary: This place will probably become our permanent Wildwood location. It meets our needs perfectly and it's affordable enough for us....
Read moreThere is no other place to stay in Wildwood than this motel. Family owned by probably one of the most kindest families in the Wildwood area. Nicholas "Nick" (son), Patricia (mom), the Father and sister (sorry didn't catch their names) and the whole team of housekeepers (especially Jackie) were very welcoming, extremely kind, very personable and turned our vacation into a great experience. Upon arrival Nick greeted me with a smile and made the check in process quick and easy. He gave me a tour of the property and answered any and all questions we had. One of the many things that we loved was that We were only 1 block over from the beach and the boardwalk and that everything was in a walking distance. My family and I love to meet people when we travel. Nick, his mom Patricia and his father were extremely friendly and took so much of their time throughout our entire stay to actually chat with us, share a few laughs and tell us about the history of their motel and about themselves. Even during the day when they were busy tending to the housekeeping and other guests they would stop to give a friendly "Hello, Have a beautiful day." We stayed in a corner room with 2 queen beds. This room gave us the feel of having a private room and private balcony since there wasn't anyone to the right of us. Definitely will be my "go to" room when we come back. The rooms were very clean, spacious and accommodating for my family of 5. The pool area was clean and relaxing. I love the Sundeck and that they have a lot of tables with umbrellas. The pool ranges from 1 1/2 feet- 7 1/2 feet which was great for the proficient and non proficient swimmers in the family. We decided to cookout 2 nights out of our 4 night stay. The grills were cleaned every night and the cookout area was extremely sanitary and clean. The whole premises was very clean and kept clean throughout the entire day. I loved every second on my stay and will be returning next year and all the...
