I called to make a reservation as our 35 year vacation hotel had recently had a fire. I stressed to the person which it seems was part of Mgmt. that I had seen some very negative reviews regarding cleanliness. He assured me there would be no problems. I sent a follow up e-mail to him to review what we discussed and his assurance. I sent an e-mail the day prior to our check in again reiterating that he please inspect our room prior to our arrival. We arrived and checked in only to find MOLD in the tub, MOLD on the shower curtain, very thick dust on the ceiling fan, the air conditioner filter was filthy, there was a baby bottle on the side of a cushion on the couch, a sunscreen bottle under the bed, the refrigerator had not been cleaned as there was food remains on the door and inside, the light over the sink did not work as the cord was too short to reach any receptable, the rug looked like it had not been shampooed all year and was stained and filthy. We told the office person, and he went and recleaned some of these things. After we moved in, I found 3 of the 6 lights around the upstairs deck did not work, all 5 of the lights around the pool did not work, and at least 6 of the lights outside the rooms did not work, The pool is small and receives almost no attention We were there for 10 days and only found the pool cleaned with the vacuum once. I also only saw chemicals added once, The person cleaning when we arrived was very laxed and did not do much. The only positive point as after a few days another cleaning person came back from her vacation and there was a major improvement in the facility. She was very cordial and pleasant and cleaned from the time she came until she left. She wiped down all the chairs outside the rooms, watered the flower boxes, moped the deck and walking area"s outside rooms, cleaned the chairs and tables inside the pool area (there was a table that had a what looked like coffee spill from when we checked in and it stayed there until the cleaning person came back to work) This cleaning person would ask daily if we needed anything and was very attentive to our needs and stay. The other thing I found extremely disturbing was that Management had the office locked until 3:00PM so nobody could ask questions, check in, or speak to them. Except for this extremely conscientious and pleasant cleaning person there is nothing at the Seakist motel that would make me return! All of the issues were Management issues that could, with a little dedication to the customer be corrected easily. Lastly as all know the motel pictures have to be...
Read moreI had a harrowing experience within the first hour I was there. We were given our room, and there were four of us. We went in and got unpacked; the kids went to the beach, my daughter went for food, and I was finally able to sit and relax. So, I turned on the TV and sat. Within the next 30 minutes, my throat started to close up, and I started wheezing and had to get out of the room. I went to the office and explained to the front desk that if I did not get out of that room, I was going to have to go to the ER because I did not have any type of inhaler to help me breathe. He could see that I was not breathing correctly. He informed me they did not have another room to move me to, and he would contact Booking.com to let them refund me my money for one day. As I was trying to find another place to take my family, I had to remain outside the balcony, and the front desk manager came up to me and told me the owners did not want me there, as they did not want any liability. I was asked to leave. I could not stay anyway, so that was not a problem for me. I was just frantic bc I had my family to care for. I have a severe allergy to mold, and I have always experienced attacks whenever I am exposed to it. I went to find another place and had no issues once I was able to settle in. The hotel now refuses to give me my money back or even one day since they were able to offer the room for rent again. The man went into the room and came out saying he did not see any mold; however, I have been in construction for 25 years, and in an old building like that, it is in the walls, and that cannot be seen. I have even seen mold painted over. I contacted Booking.com and informed them of the issue. Then I had to contact the office, which, by the way, blocked my number from their phone, and I had to use another person's phone to get through, only to be told they inspected it and did not find any mold, so I was not even able to collect one day's pay. In my opinion, this hotel is not safe for anyone who suffers from mold allergies, and Booking.com is no better for support. In addition, I might add the rooms do not look anything like they present, and most certainly the bath in our room had not been updated as they...
Read moreBeware!!! Booked this motel through Booking.com for June 29-31. The site said that my credit card would not be charged and that I should pay at the property. My card was only to reserve the room. This was great because I wanted to pay in cash! When I arrived, a very unfriendly Russian man informed me that $140 had already been charged to my card prior to my arrival and that I should pay the balance of $200 immediately. After paying cash for the balance, I was informed that all the parking spots were full and that had to park down the street in a driveway that belonged to a house they were renovating?? I also noticed that the pool was the size of a bathtub, a family of 4 were in it and there was no room for anyone else! When I inspected the room I was given, there was mold on the cloth shower curtain that had not been changed or washed in quite some time. The microwave was splattered with red sauce and the pillow cases had hairs on them??? I went to the front desk and asked if the could have housekeeping come address these issues? They said that housekeeping had left for the day. I then requested some clean linens so that I could change the bed myself? Another Russian man surfaced from the rear and very rudely told me that he will refund my money and I could find somewhere else to stay!! I said fine! He gave me my $200 in cash but claimed that he was having trouble refunding the $140 back to my credit card. Once I called my credit card company in front of him, he then lied and claimed that the transaction went through. Two weeks later, I filed a dispute with my credit card company because they never refunded...
