My husband, 9 year old son and I rented a room for four nights the last week of July. The reason we stayed at The Windward is because all of our friends had already booked their rooms there in a row next to each other, so we wanted to stay where they were. Our friends were upstairs and had the whole entire balcony to themselves because they had all the rooms up there, so that was really great. The balcony was the nighttime hangout place for all of us. Our family had never been to Wildwood before. We arrived at around 11 pm on Friday and left on Tuesday morning and that felt like a day more than it needed to be in wildwood. The hotel is close to the boardwalk- you cross the street and walk a few minutes and youâre there. Same with the beach. The owners are super friendly and helpful. The parking is a hassle, the spots near the hotel on the hotel property wrap around the pool and they are really close and squeezed in. There are not enough parking spaces for all guests so there is a lot across the street to use as well as curbside parking nearby. the owners are very hospitable and will give you passes to park for free in the lot or curbside, whichever you choose. When you arrive you need to pull up to the motel and just park in the road with hazards on and quickly unload and then go park. There are no luggage carts, no bellhops, and there is no elevator. The owners will help carry the luggage to your door for you though. There seems to be no rules to follow other than use common sense- the group we were in was pretty loud late at night up on the balcony where our rooms were and nobody complained which is pretty surprising. Our room had no phone or toiletries other than hand soap. There was no coffee maker or full length mirror. The shower was just okay- not great pressure and my husband didnât have hot water but I did. The sink in the kitchen area had dish soap but no dish towel or scrubby to use. Clean Linens and towels were provided daily and when we requested for extra, we received them promptly and without question. The room was a bit small, two double beds, a small bathroom and a little kitchenette with a little table. Good sized fridge and microwave. Each morning the owners set up a little table holding various packaged donuts and a full coffee pot with powdered creamer, sugar, and styrofoam cups. The pool isnât huge, but the kids all had a lot of fun in it and it was never crowded. There is a very small fenced in area in the pool about one foot deep that a toddler could safely sit in. There is very little shade available at the pool area: only two umbrellas at two round tables: if theyâre taken youâre stuck in the sun everywhere else. The more is in short walking distance to several good family friendly restaurants, a beer/liquor store and even a small mini golf place for kids. I have only been to wildwood this one time, so I can not compare this motel to anything else in the area. If I had to return, I would stay in Cape May and visit wildwood. If I had to stay here again I would bring my own coffee maker and ask for a corner room upstairs because I think they are bigger and having the balcony might be nice. If you want to go to wildwood with friends, this was good for us when we were all right next to each other and took up the whole entire top floor. The owners seem to be very willing to make guests happy and...
Read moreMy family has been going to the Windward motel for about 6 years now and we absolutely love it! Will and Pat are wonderful hosts and keep the place very clean and inviting. Will takes great pride every day in keeping the pool absolutely meticulous. Pat is very attentive to your needs and very accommodating, for example when we came down late on a Friday to make sure we did not have a problem getting into our room.||not sure what that for review was about in July of 2019 when they said you cannot cook there. On the contrary, they have two poolside grills available to use, as well as several rooms that have a kitchenette.||The motel is only one block away from the ocean and on the quiet end of the boardwalk right where Wildwood Crest begins.there are some shops, food places, and arcades right across the street and you don't have to go down to the main part of the boardwalk to have some fun.||There are fireworks on Friday nights throughout the summer and generally on Saturday evening, we take a ride to Sunset Beach in cape May to watch the sunset.||They have very reasonable prices and I would highly recommend a...
Read moreWe have been going to the Windward for over 30 years. Our first time was the summer before they were pregnant with Allie. A group of us would go down two or three times over the summer. At first we took our children, than some of their friends families would want to come also. Now we are taking our grandchildren. We have recommended the Windward to many of our friends, that now go there also. Pat and Will are the best, the biggest reason we keep going back. They are always busy with the up keep and improvement of their property. The rooms and pool are always clean, their helpers are always pleasant and helpful, and weâve made friends with many of the other quests that are very nice also. Somehow Will always gets the weather to be at its best while weâre there. Now as senior citizens, if Will would please start moving the ocean closer for us. Until than, the exercise is wonderful for us and we have used a sand taxi a couple...
